If they want to open during the holidays, they should be prepared. Went in at 6 on a Saturday night - packed lot as it had been for the past week due to new bar in Plymouth!~ 4 bartenders, busy bar - all walking around like there was no one there. At least 5 couples like us standing at bar with money in hand trying to get attention. One was walking around looking at the floor(?) hard to tell - one was pouring a drink - one at a time - for a crew that he clearly new while discussing the ball game. The other two...hard to tell. Didn't see them doing anything but laughing with each other. 12 minutes later - we had our drinks - mine was wrong even though SHE repeated it back to me. \r Food - we stayed due to the cold weather - it was ""eh"". Jarred pasta sauce with Cajun seasoning added and an overdone burger. The only thing they have going for them right now is the marked improvement in the facilities. THAT will not carry them alone in Plymouth. Many places have failed there due to service. This is not New Hope with the old neighborhood crowd anymore. \r OH, and what's with the extra charges for things like a baked potato? From 1.50 to 2.50 - WAY too many extra charges. Drive 2 miles and go to Jakes for NO extra charges for subs and lower menu prices on most things and WAY better service. \r PLEASE fix it before it 's too late. It's nice having a new place centrally located there but based on discussion at our next door gym... most would rather go across the lot to Chilis. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/7/2012

Went there last night with one other person. We were seated right away and I was very impressed as it appeared to be pretty busy in the lobby. When we got to the table I realized there many open tables, so it must have just been a large party in the lobby.\r \r We sat down and the hostess told us our server would be with us shortly. After about 15 minutes she came up and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered 2 beers and off she went. She returned 20 mintues later with the beers and asked if we needed more time. We told her we were ready to order and placed our orders.\r \r 15 minutes later the food came out, she asked if we needed anything else, we said no and she left. I had the chicken alfredo and it was horrible. Runny sauce, no flavor, chicken undercooked, just bad. I stopped eating and waited for her to return, however there was no sight of her, so I just ate the noodles and pushed all the chicken to the side and figured I'd explain when she came back. When she did come back we were finished with our meal. She asked if we were done, set the bill down, took the plates and left. Not a word about how our food was, she never even came once while we were eating to check on us. We left cash, as we figured it would take a LONG time to get the credit card back.\r \r Upon leaving there was another server who was trying to get past, she completely cut me off and the rolled her eyes at me. The hostess didn't even say ""have a good night"" or ""thanks for stopping in"" when we left. Not a word.\r \r Needless to say, bad service, bad food, won't be back, and won't be recommending this place to anyone. more

Service has changed 11/6/2011

It's really too bad, they use to have a great lunch but new managers or owners have changes the lunch hour. You can onl!y eat in the bistro which is loud and overcrowded. Have had numerous business lunches in the past....no more. Need to re-open the dining room or use that for lunch instead of the bistro. Lunch managers are rude to customers especially loyal customers. Good Buy Factoroy! more

I love this place! 5/11/2010

I've never liked soup. Somebody talked me into trying the cream of chicken/wild rice soup at the Sunshine Factory and it is amazing - huge chunks of white chicken in thick creamy sauce - mmmmm. It's hearty! We used to go there for happy hour when I worked nearby and they've added an outdoor patio since. Good atmosphere and good food! Pros: Decent bar, Best Soup, Pan-fried Walleye Cons: too far from home more

Everything was warm when it arrived - I guess one of us had microwaved food!""\r \r I used to work at the sunshine factory and I have no doubt that this reviewer is accurate. If some entree comes up and the others aren't done yet, then it will sit under the heat lamp for upwards of 15 minutes until the other entrees are complete. If you ask to get your meal warmed up because it was served too cold they will microwave it rather than cook it thoroughly. Pros: bar Cons: high prices, poor service, bad management more

the worst managment staff I have ever encountered 8/14/2009

Brian the manager is unprofessional and rude beyond belief. Its really too bad the food is excellent. Pros: good food bad service more

Great happy hour 3/9/2009

If strong drinks and cheap food turns you on, then happy hour at the Sunshine Factory is for you. With appetizers ranging in price from $3.95 to $6.95, you can afford to try everything! The Sunshine has a great and spacious outdoor deck that people flock to from noon to midnight. And if you find yourself unable to leave, happy hour starts up again at 9:00 with a cheeseburger special for $3.95! Enjoy! more

Brand new breakfasts 3/9/2009

Happy to share that the new breakfasts are HUGE and that it is great to have drinks for only $1.00!\r Brunch buffet is missed but will be served on holidays.\r The complimentary caramel pecan rolls are delicious.\r The staff is impressive too! more

Good food and surprisingly good service! 2/22/2008

After reading a couple other reviews we were concerned about the service but decided to try it anyway based on the food recommendations. We were pleasantly surprised with attentive service from staff, and the food was a good as we had hoped for. Wait staff was polite, quick, and responsive, including when sending a steak back for a bit more atttention. Wild rice soup was creamy and thick. Walleye with cracker crumb crust, shrimp, sirloin steaks were all well-prepared, lightly seasoned. Broccoli was served as a large, bright green bouquet with a side of creamy chicken sauce. Another school district staffer leaving the place said the salmon special was excellent. Pros: prompt, friendly service, good food Cons: skimpy salad more

Great Food!! Great Drinks!! 1/3/2007

Food was great! Service was pretty good. We sat in the bar area which has a differant menu from the nicer side. I like the bar menu better. Great cocktails also. Even the kids loved the food.\r Give this place a try. \r Pros: Wild rice soup, food, drinks Cons: service is not always the best but ok more

It's a shame someone who knows the restaurant biz doesn't buy this place... 10/31/2006

I love SF's Chicken Wild Rice Soup but the only way to do food from here is to call ahead and pick it up. The food is over-priced which would be worth it if the staff had any interest in serving customers. The service is terrible. There have been several times we have had to walk out due to no service. It's a shame since it could be such a great bar but unfortunately they just don't care to wait on anyone. Very disappointing. Pros: Chicken Wild Rice Soup Cons: Service more

Sunshine Factory 9/18/2006

Sunshine factory 5/29/2003

I don't know if it's still as good as it was when we first went there 15 years ago. Memories tend to improve with age. However they still have the best prime rib I've even found... bar none. The wildrice chicken soup is fantasic, an also the clam chowder is the best I've found in Minnesota. To top it I had to go to Honalulu. The food is always of great quality, and large portions. My only issue is that over the years the waitstaff may not be quite as friendly and accomodating as they once were. Pros: Clam Chowder, Prime Rib, Chicken wildrice soup more

Loud 8/29/2002

We were sitting in the sports bar area and kept hearing loud yelling from the kitchen. Most unpleasent atmostphere. The turnaround for the food was slow and the waitress informed us that one of the 4 entrees was done but she was still waiting on the others - it took another 15 minutes. Everything was warm when it arrived - I guess one of us had microwaved food! Pros: good parking Cons: crowded, unpleasant atmosphere more

unhappy 8/25/2002

It was my Birthday and my mom wanted to take me out to dinner, after an hour wait with no line, somebody came over to us, the main waitress had thought we had already eaten, we got up and left! more

Excellent 8/21/2002

The Sunshine Factory always has the best food, the daily specials are always ""extra special"" and tasty. My husband and I always have a good time when we go there, the staff is courteous, friendly and very efficient. Pros: Good Food, Takes Reservations more
