Best

We are back in Michigan now but still reliving our visit to the Sunset Ranch! Safe reliable horses, incredible views, and a wonderful guide (Curtis) made this a most enjoyable an...

Worst

i'd like to say it's not the worst I've seen, but it might be. The staff needs to be paid more. The horses should be cared for a bit better. They need more staff. It was great...

Birthday Party at the Ranch 9/27/2011

We were invited to a birthday party for my daughter's friend that was being held at Sunset Ranch Hollywood. It was easy to find (at the top of Beachwood Canyon) and parking wasn't bad, just below the ranch. After a short 2 minute walk up the hill we were there. They had a nice party area for us and gave the kids a lesson and rides. They LOVED IT! The ranch is rustic and authentic. The staff was nice and attentive. I guess if you can't bring the pony to your party, bring the party to the ponies!! Definitely a day the kids won't forget. more

Hollywood Attraction 9/25/2011

I didn't know this place existed! Loved the experience. I felt like I was on a movie set, except that everything was authenic, real, not cheesy like a hollywood attraction. My kids were so excited and actually learned a lot, too! As we rode through Griffith Park our guide told us that the part is twice the size of Central Park in New York. Didn't know that. We saw the Hollywood sign up close, well as close as you can get, legally. This experience was surreal and wonderful. My daughter loved her horse, Mouse. =) We walked at a normal pace (no running), and it was very safe. Thanks Sunset Ranch, and thanks Austin for a great tour! more

Two Thumbs Up 9/23/2011

I heard about Sunset Ranch from my neighbor who boards a horse up there. I decided to check it out and WOW, what a great place! This is the real deal. I was alone and they put me on a ride with a small group of tourists. We were given a short safety lesson and introduced to our horses. They were such magnificent creatures and sweet! We were on a two hour ride and I think I know everything there is to know about Griffith Park and Sunset Ranch now. Our guide was very knowledgable and nice, patient. Oh, I forgot the best part - We were so close to the Hollywood sign. It was awesome!! I give this a 5 star, two thumbs up rating! Check it out, you will be glad you did. I think I just might be their biggest fan! The only bummer? I am really sore today from riding, but it was worth it and amazing! more

Sunset Ranch Hollywood = Pretty darn cool! 9/22/2011

My family and I will not forget the fun we had with our guide Austin. He was so nice, and gave us tons of information about Griffith Park while we were on our ride. He helped my son and daughter get over their slight fears about riding (it was their first time). He made our day! It was Two For Tuesday so we really got a great deal. 4 riders $60, plus a tip. It was worth it and it was amazing!!! We would suggest this to anyone looking for family activities in Los Angeles. more

Cool Place to Stay 9/20/2011

Los Angeles really does have it ALL as we found out this week =) . While here on vacation we have been to great clubs and restaurants, beautiful beaches, a couple of museums, vintage shops, the walk of fame, and then today someone told us about horseback riding under the Hollywood sign. We actually thought they were pulling our leg, but it was worth a shot to find out, it sounded interesting. We went to the top of Beachwood Canyon and there it was, Sunset Ranch Hollywood. It was like we went back in time. What a cool place. We got saddled up and were off with our guide to see what was truly the most incredible view of all of Los Angeles. This was fun, peaceful, and different from anything else we have had the opportunity to do while we were here. We would have to say this was our best day in L.A. Thanks Sunset Ranch! more

Sunset Ranch Is A Slice Of Heaven, Wow! 9/18/2011

I feel very fortunate that we were able to see this horse facility before leaving Los Angeles and returning to London. We have horseback riding of course, but we don't have the Hollywood sign, or this splendid property, the sprawling grounds, trails, and heart-stopping views of Los Angeles. My mates and I will remember this forever! Our guide was lovely. She told us so much about Sunset Ranch and Griffith Park. Our ride was 2 hours long, and we all regretted not taking the 4 hour ride instead. Oh well, there is always next year when we return for holiday. Hats off to this wonderful attraction. I hope everyone gets a chance to take it in. Two thumbs up!! more

Lucky Girl 9/16/2011

I'm a lucky girl! My boyfriend surprised me today with a romantic sunset dinner ride at Sunset Ranch Hollywood. We got to the ranch and filled out some paperwork, then we were introduced to our horses. They were soooo beautiful and had sweet dispositions. They gave us a lesson on safety and then we were on our way with our guide up through the hills! What a view! I can't even find the words, none could do it justice! We were speechless for a long time just taking it all in. We rode for a while and ended up in Burbank at Viva Fresh, a cute little mexican restaurant. We had some nachos and a margarita and then headed back to the ranch. The sun was going down and let me tell you, we got some really amazing pics of ourselves on our horses...OH, and we saw the Hollywood sign, too! Now, THAT was amazing! Well, I loved it! Pretty sure you will too! I'd suggest this to anyone. Have fun more

Gift Certificate 9/15/2011

My boyfriend's dad bought us a gift certificate on their website and we went up to use it today! I have to say this was one of the most romantic dates we have ever had. The ranch is tucked away in the hills in Griffith Park, at the top of Beachwood Canyon. It's rustic and the real deal. The staff was very friendly and took great care to match us up with some wonderful horses, they gave us a safety speach, and off we went. Thanks ""Pops""! This was the best gift E-V-E-R!! I'm never going to forget it, and now I know just the right gift to give to others, too! more

The best kept secret in L.A.! 9/8/2011

We were online looking for things to do in L.A. when we read about horseback riding under the Hollywood sign. We didn't even know there was horseback riding in L.A. , much less in Hollywood under the Hollywood sign. So we ventured up the 101 to Hollywood and up Beachwood Canyon Dr to the very top and found parking just below the Sunset Ranch. I never knew this place existed and was pleasantly surprised that this awesome, rustic place was here all this time. Pretty much the best kept secret in L.A.! We filled out paperwork and the guide asked us about our riding experience (which is minimal) and then paired us up with our horses. It was a busy day at the ranch, but everything ran smoothly, imho. They had us put on helmets and gave us some guidelines on safety while riding. Our guide was very nice and she knew a lot about the ranch and Griffith Park. She made the ride even more enjoyable =) (Thanks Ebony). We rode over the hill to Burbank and had lunch at Viva Fresh. The margaritas were GREAT! With lunch and the round trip ride it was about 4 hours total, and it was HEAVEN! If you're looking for things to do in L.A. this should be on the top of your list! Horseback riding in L.A., who knew??!! more

Two for One Coupon Paradise 9/8/2011

My boyfriend and I went to the Sunset Ranch Hollywood for a ride today to take advantage of their Two for Tuesday special. We called to see if we needed reservations and they said no, but told us we had to print out the coupon from their website. Glad we did! It was a lot of fun and just like everyone here says, the views are breathtaking. We're going to try to go once a month. You can't beat the price, two riders, one hour ride, just $30 plus tip. We'll be back! more

Nothing beat Sunset Ranch! 9/6/2011

Summer is coming to an end and we are trying to get as much fun out of these last few weeks as we can. We had the Sunset Ranch on our list for a while so we are glad we finally made it up there. It's at the top of Beachwood Canyon in Hollywood. It is a very lovely property with so much charm. The horses look healthy, and were well trained. We took a two-hour ride for $45 per person. Our guide Ebony knew a lot about the history of the ranch and of Griffith Park. She was great! We got some good pics (thanks to Ebony) and even more importantly, we created a precious memory together. You'll love this place! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for things to do in Los Angeles. It was fun, relaxing, and also pretty romantic. Two thumbs up to Sunset Ranch Hollywood. more

moments at the ranch 9/6/2011

We were looking for things to do in L.A. and decided to venture out. After hitting the Farmer's Market my girlfriend and I decided to go up to Sunset Ranch Hollywood Stables for a ride. It's at the very top of Beachwood Canyon, past the houses. We found parking easy enough and walked up a short hill to the ranch. We signed in and our guide has us find safety helmets that fit us. They asked us some questions about our level of expertise (which was ZERO) and they matched us up to our horses. Perfect matches, by the way. Our horses were so sweet! We rode out of the stables and onto the trails and the view was amazing, just like everyone says. I completely forgot we were in Hollywood. It was really a treat to get to have this experience. We rode for an hour and loved EVERY SECOND of it! I would suggest it to anyone. more

Perfect Day 8/22/2011

Today was the perfect day to take a ride at Sunset Ranch Hollywood. The skies were clear and after going to the farmers market we still had an afternoon to enjoy. The staff in the office was very nice and our guide talked to us about our riding experience before matching us up with our horses. I have been riding for years but my date has not. They brought over two beautiful horses with sweet personalities. We were both very happy with their choices. Couldn't believe the views when we got out of the ranch onto the trails in Griffith Park. To say they were breathtaking would be an understatement. I didn't even know that this existed in Los Angeles. Who knew that this great place was just minutes from Hollywood. Our guide was so very sweet, Ebony was her name, you should ask for her when you go up. She knew all about the history of the ranch and the park. The view of the Hollywood sign was O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G! They have one and two hour rides, and we took the 2 hour ride because at $45 each, it was a great deal. I'd suggest this to any of my friends, and we can't wait to go back very soon! more

LOVELY DAY 7/28/2011

Such a wonderful day in Los Angeles. What a gem the Sunset Ranch Hollywood is. My wife and I enjoyed our 10 year anniversary here today. Everyone was so kind to my wife and I. The horses are great, and of course, the views are spectacular. We took the 2 hour ride and went to the Bat Caves. I can't think of a more romantic way to spend the day with my beautiful wife. Our guide was lovely and gave us so much information that we never knew about the ranch. I would suggest Sunset Ranch to anyone that wants to find something romantic to do in Los Angeles. This really was the best date we have ever had. Thank you Sunset Ranch Hollywood, your staff gets two thumbs up from us! more

Weekend Getaway 7/23/2011

weekend getaway was a blast. We went horseback riding at Sunset Ranch Hollywood. The hospitality was great, the guides were nice and cool, the horses were tamed. As we ride through the trails we have seen a beautiful view from afar. We have seen the famous HOLLYWOOD sign. The sunset was astonishing. I could see the sun slowly goes down. The experience was a memorable one.. Cheers to Sunset Ranch... more

What more can I say... Oh yeah, the food also is delicious. I will bring my friends next time, I really enjoyed my weekend.. more

Completely Mind-blowing! 6/15/2011

Ahhhhhhhh, today I took a ride at Sunset Ranch Hollywood!!! I was soooooo scared! When I was 11 I was bucked off from a horse and I have had a huge fear of ever, EVER getting back on a horse. This fear made me so sad because I love horses very much. I went to the ranch and talked to Austin, he was in the office and took all of my information. He found us a nice tour guide and they discussed my fears. They had me put on a safety helmet and brought me the sweetest horse, Mouse. Mouse was BEAUTIFUL, a magnificent animal. My friend was paired up with Patches, and both horses had adorable, playful personalities. Those horses do like to walk close to the edge of the cliff, and I thought I was going to faint (so I didn't look down), but our guide said that is normal.. Sadly, that didn't make me feel much better. Our tour guide was Douglas. He was very patient with me considering I was close to crying, facing my fears, and couldn't remember how to be a good rider. He took a lot of time and worked with me. He was very knowledgeable about the ranch, it's history, the horses, and Hollywood in General. He showed us the Hollywood sign, and insisted that I was going to be okay. He encouraged me to ride when I was ready to give up because of my fear. He showed my friend and I the best time, ever. This was just such an amazing day. I really can't believe I finally did it after all of these years. I've never been up there to see those trails, even though I have been to the ranch, which by the way, is so, so, so rustic and cool! The views of Los Angeles from up on those trails were breathtaking! Who would have known that something this wonderful was just minutes away from Universal Studios, much less, in any part of Los Angeles? 5 minutes away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and there we were in paradise. The rides are very affordable. We did the one hour ride for $30, but they did have a two hour ride for $45. I'm still in shock that I even got on my horse, Mouse. I love that horse, and WHEN I go back, I want to ride with Mouse again. Thank you Sunset Ranch Hollywood, thank you Austin and Douglas, and thank you Mouse for helping me overcome my fears (just a little). I'll be back! more

I'm Back In The Saddle Again 6/6/2011

Yes, back in town and had to go back to Sunset Ranch. I love the ranch and the view. We took a nice long ride tonight to have some dinner over the hill in Burbank. Riding back at dusk was really peaceful. Last time I was in Los Angeles I took the hour ride, so this was a great treat for me and my date, prrrrrrr............... more

ranch visit 6/3/2011

What more can I say? I had a great day visiting the ranch, riding a horse and seeing the nice panoramic view of the mountains. I will bring my friends next time so that they too can experience a life away from the noise in the city. more

The best experience ever 6/1/2011

Glad I didn't fight the traffic today to make it out to the beach. Not that I don't love the beach, I do, I just knew that the traffic was going to be miserable. Beautiful day today and I just wanted to have a really chill day. Grabbed my buddy and we went up to Sunset Ranch Hollywood Stables to have a ride. As usual, it was awesome! We had a really cute, really nice guide, Amanda. I'm a rider, but still had to go through all the paperwork, wear the helmet, and didn't get to run my horse, but it was all worth it for the vibe up there on those trails. Perfect day! Go for it, it's a great place to spend a few hours. So NOT Hollywood, and that's what makes it so ""cool"". more
