Best Meat Deli in Anderson 5/13/2008

I am been visiting Summit Meats for a long time now. Whenever I am stuck for a good meal and don't know what to fix, I stop in. The store is very clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and they have a great selection of items such as steaks (ribeyes, t-bones), chicken cordon blue, pork chops, Amish chicken, ribs, ground chuck, you name it. And, you can also pick up whatever sides you want like slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, twice baked potatoes, salsa, dip, chips, breads, and other interesting items you can only get there. You can also order a beef tenderloin, sliced thin for sandwhiches and served on a deli tray with horseradish and your party guests will RAVE about your food! On the other side of the store is Summit Meats Marketplace which has all of those items that I don't want to spend my gas money on going somewhere else to get, especially if I'm right there. I can get pop, beer, softdrinks, buns, ketchup - anything I need to stay in and cook for my family. I highly recommend this store as it is one of those Mom and Pop places that you don't find too many of anymore. Pros: Great selection on deli items Cons: You cannot pay at the pump if you buy the gas more

The happiest little place in Anderson Township... 5/11/2008

I am one of the hardest customers to please. I have years of experience with steaks and such, working as a butcher in my younger years, and I've always been perceived as a ""know it all"" which makes me hard to impress. However....\r \r The first time I walked into Summit Meats, it was a small cramped (we'll say cozy) meat store slapped onto the side of an Ameristop gas station. However, I did one stop in one day, I guess just in a curious mood, and as the bells rang on the door, I got two hearty ""Hey!'s"" from the gentlemen behind the counter. Both were busy waiting on other customers, but did take a moment to welcome me in. It was nothing more than a simple deli case, running the depth of the store, with a few shelves scattered along the opposing wall. Memorabilia from the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnate Bengals, along with odds and ends from things like the Andy Griffith show, and the (what I assumed to be) family photos of children and grandchildren absolutely covered all of the walls and available surfaces, making me feel like I had just stepped into a very dear friend's living room. When it was my turn, I placed my order, just a few steaks and some lunch meat, and was shocked at the manners and helpful knowledge pouring from the man behind the counter. ""Why haven't I shopped here before?!?!"" was all I could think as I walked out the door with the gentlemen calling ""Have a great day, we'll see you later!"" after me. \r \r I got home, fired up the grill, and.... well, WOW. Never for such a low price had I ever had such tender, fresh-cut steak in my life. Flavor was 10 out of 10.\r \r Since my first visit, Summit Meats has purchased the gas station they were once attached to, and expanded into a rather large and VERY CONVENIENT little deli/grocery that's close to home for everybody.\r \r I HIGHLY recommend stopping by someday and trying things out. You will be more than impressed with the service, and shocked with the value of all they have to offer!! Pros: What's not to list.... Cons: While produce and meat are a-plenty, the grocery is somewhat lacking, however, the owner told me that they are working on it, and should be offering more in the very near future. more
