The cake's detail was an incredible rendition of High School Musical, exactly what my daughter wanted for her birthday. My boyfriend sent me cupcakes to the office for my birthday...they were AMAZING! Not only were they beyond tasty, they were customized to me with a logo of my company, shoes, pocket books, roses, etc. Receiving this cupcakes was 10x better than getting flowers... so thoughtful and creative!! I called Sugarplum Bakery to order SOMETHING (I had know idea what I wanted) for my sister's baby shower. I spoke with the owner, Alicia, she was amazing. I explained that my sister is having a boy and that I wasn't sure what flavors I wanted. She just took charge. She asked if I wanted cake or cupcakes, then suggested that she could make cupcakes with baby rattles and put them on a tier. To which I replied ""I love the sound of that"". Then she suggested her chocolate cake with hazelnut chocolate butter cream. Sounds amazing right!! Well it was, she personally delivered and setup the cupcakes. They looked absolutely amazing. OMG!! They were a chocolate lover's dream. The cupcakes were just perfect rich and moist not to over powering and the hazelnut chocolate butter cream went perfectly with the chocolate cupcakes, all in all the perfect cupcake. Even my father loved them and he doesn?t really like chocolate that much. OMG! Thank you soo much for your help Alicia. I will without doubt order from Sugarplum Bakery again. I ordered cupcakes to be sent to my girlfriend's office for her birthday from The Sugarplum Bakery. The manger asked me what I had in mind and I just thought I wanted plain cupcakes with pink icing but then they started asking me questions about her favorite flowers and what else she was into. I was really impressed by the creative ideas that she had and I ended up ordering a dozen cupcakes- half with roses and half with fashion accessories like edible handbags and makeup on top of them. The people in her office are mostly young women too and they all got a huge kick out of the cupcakes, which I am told also tasted really good too. It was very easy to do busines with them- my order was placed over the phone and I didnt even have to go into the bakery. I ordered my wedding cake from Sugarplum Bakery for my small reception this past December. I really didnt have any idea of what I wanted except I knew I wanted something very simple and not frilly. Alicia was amazing to work with - she came up with several ideas that fit our budget and style. She even did the delivery and set up herself. We decided on doing the Sugarcookie Cake flavor, berries and chocoalte buttercream. So many people commented that it was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted- including our caterer. Two weeks ago, after reading the reviews on City Search, I decided to order a cake and cupcakes for a baby shower from Sugarplum Bakery. I had three requirements - Moist, delicious and elegant. Alicia did not disappoint. She worked with me from start to finish. After sending her a copy of the baby shower invitation and pictures of the Nursery, she came up with several designs to choose from. The Cake, cupcakes and Alicia arrived on time and my Guests were very impressed. In fact I wish I had asked her for business cards. So many guests wouldn't leave without her contact information. I ordered my close-friend a cake from here for her birthday. It was amazing, seriously. She loves yellow cake with chocolate frosting and I thought I would get that, but make it extra special. After viewing Sugarplum Bakery on-line I called immeditaely for a cake tasting; the cakes were so creative. Alicia, the owner was so excited about my baby shower theme, Goodnight Moon that she immediately came up with fun ideas for the cake design. We tried several flavors and because I couldn't decide, we settled on a white cake with a hint of lemon and vanilla buttercream frosting. For favors we used red velvet cupcakes and cream cheese frosting. My guests raved about the flavor of the cakes and I was even more impressed with the final design. She created a sleeping baby with a moon and little pink slippers that hung below, just like my invitations. The cupcakes each had cute little babies with a baby blanket. I was so amazed by the attention to detail. She thought of everything from they baby's eyelashes to flower pacifiers. Though I was worried that Sugarplum Bakery was overwhelmed with orders during this wedding season, I can tell that Alicia and her staff took a lot of time on my cake. I would definitely order from them again and recommend them to my friends. There are not too many bakeries that care about presentation as well s flavor. more

I ordered a cake from Alicia for a baby shower this past December. The shower had a Christmas theme and after much discussion on various flavors we decided on a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting (Alicia?s recommendation). While discussing various design options Alicia suggested incorporating the shower invitation into the design. She came up with a beautiful design and was able to replicate the embellishment on the invitation perfectly (a Christmas stocking with various baby toys stuffed into it). Everyone at the baby shower went crazy when they saw the cake. The compliments continued once the cake was cut. The red velvet cake was fabulous, definitely one of the best I have ever had. I ordered cupcakes for a baby shower, and was amazed by Alicia's creative - and delicious - result. Our theme was 2 Peas in a Pod (twins), so she designed cupcakes with a sugar peapod containing 2 tiny pink peas (twin girls) on top. We had chocolate and vanilla, with pear buttercream, displayed in tiers - they made the perfect certerpiece for the shower. And there were none left over. This was my second time ordering from the Sugarplum Bakery and it wont be the last. The first time I got a cake from them was a tiered holiday themed cake that looked like stacked presents with holly and snowflakes- it was beautiful. They recommended I go with red velvet to match the colors of the details. It was the best red velvet cake i have ever tasted. Some of my friends had never tried it before and they loved it too. The last cake I ordered was for an office party. I got the large present cake and mini cupcakes to go around it. I ordered the lemon white cupcakes and there weren't any leftovers. Everyone in the office loved the present cake and commented on how real the bow looked. After the party, one of my coworkers made an appointment with Alisha, the owner, for a wedding cake tasting. I used to order cakes from a french bakery in my neighborhood and I was hesitant on spending more money. But it is totally worth it- and I am looking forward to another excuse to order the again! more

A few weeks ago, I had ordered a cake for my friends 21st birthday party. I didnt know what design I wanted, but the staff was very helpful, they told me not to worry and that the cake would look great and hip and young for a 21st birthday party. It was not just great, it was outstanding, everyone loved the cake and took pictures and everything, and not only did it look great, but it was amazing, the taste was superb. The cake really was the attraction of the party! I recommended this bakery to everyone I know. I hope your business prospers and good luck! more

Talk about a fantastic baker and great tasting cake. If you don't order a cake from Sugarplum Bakery you're really missing out. Our cake was the attraction of our 13 year olds party. A couple of months ago I ordered a cake for my cousin's baby shower and was so happy with the final product. I'd never been to a baby shower so I wasn't sure what I should be ordering. Alicia (the designer) was great and helped me work through the details of how large the cake should be, flavor and icing combos and most importantly, the design. I didn't want a typical run-of-the-mill baby shower cake so we went through several design ideas and she came up with a unique design that was super cute and was the centerpiece of the baby shower buffet table. The cake was delivered and set-up the morning of the baby shower saving me from having to lug it crosstown. Everyone LOVED the cake - it was super moist and super tasty - I noticed everyone going back for seconds. My cousin was really happy with the cake and emailed a couple of days later to make sure I thank Alicia and to tell hert they loved the baby shower cake! She also wanted her name and contact info as a couple of her friends wanted to contact her for future events. I was more than happy to do so! A friend recommended contacting Alicia Swearengin at Sugarplum Bakery to design and bake my fiancee's 30th birthday cake. The cake was amazing in its presentation and taste. Couldn't be happier with the results. I needed a cake for my office holiday party. I have zero experience (or desire) in designing cakes, so I left it to Alicia (at Sugarplum) to design it. I was afraid that work irk them, but they were happy to oblige. All I told her was that it needed to be holiday-themed, be able to serve 125 people, and that it taste good - it couldn't just look good because these people were going to eat it! And I wanted some of it to be spice cake - I'm sick of bland cakes. She designed a 3 tier (2 of spice cake; 1 of red velvet) cake in the shape of stacked presents. The ""wow"" factor was high - this wasn't something you'd see in your local grocery store. People were actually upset that we had to cut into it...until they started eating it. ""Feeding Frenzy"" aptly describes the scene. We're definitely going to use them for other office parties (birthdays, departures, etc.) and a friend I recommended them to has used them for her sister's birthday cake. My only complaint was that I needed guidance on how to cut a 3 tier cake, but they explained that instructions were provided with the invoice - I just missed them. I ordered a cake from Sugarplum for my wife's birthday. The ordering process was incredibly easy and the owner sent me great design ideas that perfectly reflected both what I described to her and my wife's tastes. When the cake arrived, the design was beautiful. My wife thought it was the cutest thing in the world and I scored huge points with her. But the best part of the experience was eating the cake. I have heard the term ""melts in your mouth"" used before, but until now I have never experienced it. It was amazing. I ate three slices. I would have had more but my wife's friends are savages.
