Studio 1622

I lived in Baltimore for the past 7 years and for the past 5 years I have been going to to Studio 1622 for my Salon needs! Virginia and her staff are incredibly knowledgeable and do not cheat you into getting a cut/color that does not augment your natural beauty. They really take the time to get to know you and your personal style. I, sadly, recently had to move from the Baltimore area but came back into town a few weeks before my wedding and Virginia gave me a cut and color AND did an updo trial for me...all for free! She also welcomed my friends into the salon and offered them food and drinks throughout the day. My hair looks amazing still and I have always gotten compliments on my hair cuts after seeing Virginia. Not only does she do an excellent job, but she is one of the most giving people I have ever met. I am so lucky I found them when I did and whenever I get to fly back to Baltimore I will definitely be making a stop there since I don't trust anyone else with my hair! more

I moved to MD from PA with in the past 8 months. The search for new doctors, dentists, stylists, etc is exhausting needless to say. Luckily I was tipped off at work about a hip little hair salon on Ann Street. At my first visit to the salon Virginia and family kept the salon open late, offered me food, drinks, some much needed advise, and most importantly an amazing hair cut and color. (Not to mention Virginia gave me an honest consultation talking me into a CHEAPER color option, that would still make the same statement - how refreshing to not feel like I'm just another sales opportunity). When I called back for my second appointment Virginia remembered me and all of which we chatted over in out prior time together and when I arrived for my appointment her client was hugging as she left in gratitude for yet another job well done. Her talent alone is enough to say, GO TO SALON 1622. The fun environment and real conversation is an added bonus. I have yet to find a doctor I trust, but I can easily say I will be knowing Salon 1622 for years to come. more

About a year ago, I was lucky. New to Baltimore, I was in need of a haircut. Like any other lost soul seeking direction, I turned to the Internet for guidance. Although the salon already has tons of great reviews (the ones that prompted me to go), I feel fortunate to have found this place and want to pay the favor forward. This salon offers so much - relaxed atmosphere, superb location, warm hospitality, and genuine care. Virginia (the owner) has a heart of gold. She also happens to be incredibly talented. I have lived in various cities and covered the spectrum of barbers, salons, stylists, etc. And I can easily say - without any hesitation - she's the best. She works insanely hard and has developed skill that, I believe, is unmatched. The salon's female clients are loyal - and with good reason. I've witnessed women leave looking drastically more attractive than when they came in. As a guy, I wonder: is there anything better? What are equally impressive are the men's cuts. I want to defend my gender here, but I can't. Some men can shockingly ""out-fuss"" women when it comes to their hair. (Seriously, guys...why?) But this shop nails it every time - surpassing expectations and leaving the guys sincerely impressed and relieved. As a side note: although this is a ""salon"" and many men (me included) cringe at the word, it is very comfortable for men. The employees/clients have a great sense of humor and complimentary cold beer is always available. The neck-shave and warm towel treatment is worth the trip on its own. You'd be hard-pressed to find another studio that has perfected - or even continues to provide - this classic and underrated perk. Also, the prices are amazing at around $20 for a men's cut. They could easily get away with charging double or triple that price. After factoring in the good location in the heart of Fell's Point, it must be sheer kindness that keeps their prices so reasonable. Without a doubt, it's a redeeming and gem of a place for the city of Baltimore. You will leave in a positive mood, looking great, and feeling good (and sometimes buzzed from the generous booze...shhh!). more

I have been going to Virginia, the owner, for 4 years now, since she was at a different salon in Canton and corrected a bad highlight job I had received. Since then I have followed her to her new location on S. Ann. She is friendly and honest, and I have received countless compliments on her work, prompting friends to drive from the 'burbs to see Virginia in the city. She's done my short cuts, long styles, wrangled my too-thick hair and done beautiful highlights. Her prices are lower than most that I've seen. If you're not sure what you want, you can trust Virginia to talk you through what might look good (or be honest and kind if the style you want might not work for you). Not only that, but she has a heart of gold. She has given my children gifts and even sent me authentic Greek food when I was home on bed rest. I can't say enough about Virginia and Studio 1622! more

I have been going to Virginia for about 6yrs now..tried many salons never went home satisfied.. when i leave her place i want to go show off my new do. my daughter goes to her too and she is in high school. if i could show u pics of what Virginia does to my daughters hair i would.. absolutely love it.. she has moved to 531 Ann street... Pros: can get an appt anytime Cons: I cant drive in the city..lol more

I was considering trying this salon but am turned off by the spelling errors on the front page!!! If they can't pay enough attention to the first words you see that is advertised everywhere then I don't want them touching my hair! more

I got my hair cut last night and along with loving the style, I loved the staff and the atmosphere to. Very friendly. I am 30 years old and I have been looking for a hairdresser since I was 18. There are a few people that I have gone to over the years but never felt like they took an interest, just doing an ok job. I have finally found a salon I can call home. I would highly recommend this Studio 1622 and espically Virginia, who cut my hair. Pros: Friendly staff more

This place is wonderful. Really, really wonderful. I moved out of the city and continue to make the drive just because it is worth it. I can't count how many times Virgina and Amy have fixed my hair after another salon butchered it. These girls go above and beyond what is needed. Good people. Great Salon. more

This is the best place in the City. Whether you are a guy looking for a quick stylish cut, like me, or a lady looking for color and cut and a whole lot more this is the place. Their prices are great and they do a great job. Pros: Great cut at the right price and great people Cons: NONE more

Studio 1622 is a very friendly and clean atmosphere.I have been going there since the grand opening in 2007 and I was satisfied with everything including the prices! Ms. Virginia took well care of me nd I have been returning ever since! more
