I will attempt to enumerate the litany of complaints that I have about dinner last Friday night. I cannot imagine how the place has the reputatin. The escargot and crab cake appetizers were good - not great - and things went downhill from there. We are not fond of having to ask the wait staff for the price of everything; it makes the customer sound and feel like a cheapskate. Our waitress recommended a 3 lb. lobster for the table, but we had to ask her the price. We were charged for a 3 1/2 lb., but it couldn't have been more than 2 lb (which, at $38/lb makes a difference). SO cheesy -she brought ONE cup of melted butter for the FOUR of us! And, she didn't show up for us to ask for more. Every steak was overcooked. The three 7 oz. filets together may have weighed a pound, which didn't matter since they were dry, tasteless, and inedible anyway. When we brought that fact to the waitress's attention, she offered dessert as restitution. She never brought the water and extra bread we requested. Our steaks were not only overcooked but cold after setting under the warming lamp while waiting on our lobster to be cooked. The lobster initially intended for our table went to the table of 8 behind us, seated shortly after we were. They received their lobster before we did, and it didn't exactly take geniuses to figure out that the kitchen held our steaks while they rushed in another lobster for us, undercooking the claw meat and ruining our steaks. I ordered a bottle of Cab for dinner ($80). The waitress recommended the evening's special Cab instead, gushing on about its lush qualities, again no price stated. So, I asked. She muttered and stumbled out something inaudible. I asked again. She finally said $310. None of the four of us will ever go there again. For $480 - before tip - I believe it's reasonable to expect higher quality food, service, concern, accountability. I shouldn't have to beg a steakhouse to properly cook a $32 filet (ala cart).
