Spiritus is a great place if you're looking to pick up a nice 6 of beer or some wine. Their prices are a little steeper if you're going to go for liquor or 30's of beer, but all in all, definitely worth going to if you're close by. The staff is always friendly and might even let you sample new products if you're a regular. more

spiritus fermenti is a dirty looking subterranean liquor store underneath the meeting street cafe. since it's right on college hill, it has great location for needy brown students without the luxury of having a car. which is probably why their prices are so high. the selection isn't that great either. if you do go, try to plan in advance, because cold beer costs an arm and a leg, whereas non-refrigerated beer is not too bad. more

Liquor Store 8/17/2005

Tucked away on a small street on college hill, this liquor store has almost everything you need. The owner is very nice and often times will let you sample some of the liquor. Although the price is a little bit on the more expensive side, it is convenient for the throng of students who live on this hill. Although this is a small liquor store, it has almost all the normal brands you would find in a typical liquor store. They are also pretty strict in asking for your ID. more

great location, decent liquor store 8/12/2005

For Brown students who live on pembroke campus, Spiritus could not be at a more optimal location. It is not too big, but will usually have what you are looking for. The one thing that gets me is that they charge more for cold beer, which is ridiculous. There are also cheaper places, but if you ask them about special deals they have that day you can usually find a bargain. more
