Dining at the Space Needle 4/4/2011

My husband had a birthday recently and we took his parents out to eat to the Space Needle. His parents were delighted with the view and the height but when it came to food....disappointment. The ""steer and pier"" was embarrassing for the price. We were told we would get 3-4 crab legs, we got one! And the steak was tiny with a dab of mashed potatoes. I ordered the seafood fettucini and it had an unpleasant sour taste. Either too much lemon or sour wine. The seafood was undercooked and had that water taste if you know what I mean. Our bill turned out to be $300 for a party of 4. Wow well we will definitely skip the restaurant next time. I love gourmet food and this was not the quality that I expected for the price. more

Go for the view, not the food. 3/23/2011

If you associate the price with the food only, you'll be disappointed. The price is also for the view, which is unmatched. A rotating restaurant? Who else compares? more

Beautiful view, but you pay for it. 3/2/2011

Not great food, crowded, expensive, but fantastic views. Good to see once or twice, but I doubt I'll go back. more

Great View + Great Food + Great Staff 10/26/2010

I?ve been to the Space Needle occasionally throughout the years, but my most recent trip showed a number of delightful changes that now make this place undeniably the ultimate do-not-miss Seattle dining experience, definitely for out-of-town visitors, but also for us locals. There were so many new things to discover, that we asked, and sure enough, within the last couple of years a new head chef and new management were added. more

Elegant Dining 10/8/2010

I absolutely positively love everything about our trip to The Space Needle today (and for brunch a previous time)! While expensive, the food, view, wait staff and everything else about our visit was perfect! In addition to the yummy food you get a trip to the top of the Space Needle to enjoy the wonderful view of Seattle and the Sound...seriously, how could you want more? Go, try it for yourself and feel pampered and special for a couple of hours! more

Go for the view, not the food! 7/27/2010

I would give the trip up to the Space Needle and the observation deck 5 stars and the restaurant 1 star. There are SO many amazing restaurants in Seattle- for the money, dinner at the Space Needle is NOT worth it. If I'm paying over $30 for salmon, it better be amazing and the Space Needle simply is not. Its really too bad- it has so much potential. How hard would it be to hire a talented chef to redesign the menu? Pros: Gorgeous view, a must see Cons: Food more

best restaurant in the Galaxy 10/23/2009

We had the most delicious dinner, the salmon was cooked perfectly, the service was outstanding, and of course, the Luner Orbiter was just how I remembered when the space needle opened 62 when I was 7. Maybe the space needle is dear to my heart, and the needle was designed by a brilliant Mr. John Graham. I have eaten and spent alot of money in many fine restaurants in my time. and the space needle is at the top. I cant understand why anyone would complain because thy didn't get butter and salt on their asparagus. I can jolly well put my own salt and butter on asparagus. Pros: the most comfortable seating and of coarse the view! Cons: nooonnne! more

Not everything that shines is gold 5/23/2008

We were staying over night is Seattle, awaiting a cruise. Went to have dinner at the space needle restaurant. Seating was prompt and the view was AMAZING. The Caesar salad ($9) was probably one of the best I had yet. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir. The waiter had no clue about the differences between the various bottles. The wine he suggested was tasteless, fizzy and low quality ($46). We ordered the filet mignon ($51) and the kobe sirloin ($49). The food was delivered to the table by the kitchen, and they had no idea which was which. We called our waiter and he said which was which. Well, he was wrong again...in the end, we figured out by tasting it. The food presentation was very simple, the asparagus did not have any salt or butter on them, the potatoes did not complement the meat at all, the sauce's taste left much to be desired and they pepper crusted the wrong stake (should have been the kobe sirloin, not the filet...the menu said one thing, but the waiter insisted on the other). We did not order dessert. Pros: Amazing view you cannot get anywhere else in the city Cons: The restaurant, service, food, wine, price more

Can't go to seattle without going to the space needle 11/19/2006

The space needle is a must stop for tourist or anyone that is new to the area. The view is spectacular. It is kind of expensive to go up an elevator. However, the experience is worth it. Also, there are some rides nearby that are fun for kids. Pros: Memorable experience, good for tourists Cons: expensive more
