Sorelley Disappointed 9/9/2009

I was excited to have a little bakery so close to home, but was sorely disappointed in every aspect of this shop. The coffee was weak and sour. The pastries looked like a combination of PTA bake sale and a Costco value-pack. The sandwiches are bland and dry on unexciting white ""French"" bread. The ambiance was nil. So uninviting I wanted to turn around as soon as I walked through the door... On the other hand, their second property down by the bridge is nice and airy and has a friendly staff! Still, extreamely average fare... Pros: Nice neighborhood Cons: Bad coffee, sad pastries... more

Service with a frown 1/23/2009

-The service was really insulting\r -The mocha and coffee both didn't taste right\r -Charlestown needs some cafe competition here.\r \r \r \r Here's a brief description of my experience this morning. The service was uninviting, and it was almost like they couldn't wait for me to order and then leave. The woman at the register gave my order (muffin and a mocha) in a to-go bag and cup respectively...didn't even ask if my order was ""for here or to-go."". I said thank you, and she just stared back at me with no reply. I took a sip of the mocha, and it was terrible. When I told her the mocha didn't taste right, she really didn't seem to care. She gave me attitude. So I asked for a coffee instead, and she went ahead and replaced my mocha with a coffee. Lastly, I had to ask for a refund for the difference ($2). They didn't offer. Note, I was at the Sorrelle next to the Cold Stone Creamery near the Charlestown bridge.\r \r I was really dissappointed with this place. I don't understand the 4.5 stars above based on my experience this morning. Anyone want to start a coffee shop in Charlestown with me? These folks need some competition. Pros: It's close to my house Cons: I wish there was another coffee shop closer more

Hidden Jewel 9/5/2006

For serious coffee drinkers, this is the best coffee in Boston. Bagels, scones and pastries are also excellent. What lunches!!!!! The roasted chicken and potatoes on Thursday is highly recommended. If you are looking for the personal touch this is the place to go.\r \r Also try Sorelle's other location in City Square. Pros: ambience, great food, best coffee more

Best in Boston 2/16/2006

The best lunch/coffee shop/bakery in Boston. I been coming to Sorelle's for seven years. I go there for coffee and bagel/muffin everyday. Great! I also try to go there for lunch as much as possible. The sandwiches are awesome but the daily lunch specials are the best around. Tuesday's is meatloaf day, my favorite, the meatloaf sandwich is to die for. Do yourself a favor and check out both Sorelle locations, you will not be disappointed. Pros: food, location, atmoshere more

Sorelle - A gem! 6/6/2004

This place is unequalled in terms of its homemade goods, gourmet lunches, catering and ambience. In summer the flower strewn terrace feels like Beacon Hill - Great place to relax and meet with friends. Pros: quality, inexpensive more

A cut above 6/5/2004

Sorelle Bakery and Cafe is exceptional. In the land of cookie cutter cafes such as mega giant Starbucks and Au Bon Pain, Sorelle is a jewel. All home made baked goods; their gourmet lunch specials are to die for; their chocolate mousse cake a centerpiece for a special occasion! And it's a city oasis filled with friendly people place and great conversation. Pros: Exeptional food, Great atmosphere more

Real Good 8/5/2003

this place has unbelievable sandwiches with every kind of mayo you could imagine right down to bearnaise mayo, what could honestly be better! this place is a bit pricey but certainly worth it. they use only the finest and freshest ingrediants possible and every bite is like heaven. their bread is fresh baked no matter what time of day you go, unlike other places that slow down production after 12pm. i cant wait to try the new location, now i can enjoy my favorite sandwich(s) with a glass of wine, kudos! more

excellent! 8/10/2002

great muffins, strong coffee and excellent sands! i work in the city and this place is not very expensive compared to others.service is mostly fast . more

Swells 7/10/2002

It would be nice for C-town if there was a little competition in the cafe department. The bakery stuff is good but can be hit or miss, the sandwiches are good, but everything is really expensive. While the people behind the counter are always nice, the other customers can be a little much( tons of lawyers who loudly say nothing nice about anything). Pros: great location Cons: no parking, crowded, expensive more
