Great BBQ, Great Service, Great price!!!! 10/20/2009

One of the best dining experiences i have had in a long time. The server was very attentive and was quick on the refills. I had the baby back ribs combo which were even better than my father smokes!! And if that wasent enough the deserts were out of this world. Try the peach cobbler. Anyway thats that and try sonny's for a great dining experience! Pros: Good food, cheap, great service, Try the corn nuggets! Cons: Big portions means your full before desert. more

great baby backs 10/20/2009

I really loved the all you can eat babies and the great service. The price were a great value!! Pros: loved the ayce baby backs more

Love the pulled pork 10/13/2009

Like that it was a friendly atmosphere. The server came back to fill our tea even though we didn't ask. My friend had the new grilled chicken with a bunch of toppings and we shared some of those corn nuggets which should be a dessert! I had the pulled pork on the garlic bread, Wow! I'll be back! Pros: It was SO good - sweet sauce was perfect Cons: My appetite wasn't big enough more

BBQ chicken sandwich was incredible. 9/2/2009

Had the BBQ chicken sandwich at the Cobb Pkwy restaurant. It was delicious, the manager came and greeted our table. I thought customer service was dead...not the case at this Sonny's restaurant. Pros: Delish more

Reliably good 1/4/2004

No, it's not the best barbecue in the world. But, especially for a chain, Sonny's delivers. A barbecue beef sandwich, with the sweet sauce and some cole slaw, french fries and a big 'ol Coke and I'm a happy camper. What's with all these barbecue snobs??? Pros: reliably good food, parking more

BAD EXPERIENCE 8/11/2003

Worst imitation BBQ ever! If you love BBQ, DO NOT STOP HERE! Have tried it twice, both times the meat was too dry, with little flavor. Sauce is only mediocre at best. The sides do not raise the rating any at all. I call this imitation BBQ because it is tastes more like baked meat rather than slow roasted. more

Sonny's (you're kidding) 7/6/2003

To put Sonny's in the classification of Atlanta's Best Q is like comparing the Mona Lisa to a black velvet Elvis. Sorry but Sonny's is NOT Bar-B-Q. more

no taste 7/6/2003

whoever put sonny's barbeque (a chain mind you) as a top ten barbeque joint needs to have there taste buds removed. Here is an idea Rib Shack in buckhead. You know the place right next door to an apparent top ten outdoor place to eat. How intermezzo didn't make that list is rather interesting. Anyway by putting Sonny's on the top ten list, this city guide has demonstrated its worth. The listings on these guides is horrid. You really need someone with taste evaluating. I will give you a couple hints. An interesting approach to Ice cream = Jakes. Coffee and dessert = cafe intermezzo. A little unknown place and one of the best restaurants in Atlanta ""OSCARS!!!!"" Further for a unique stylish approach to southwestern cuisine not to mention a Kickin Margarita you gotta go agauve all the way. Cons: terrible area, decent saladbar, Horrible barbeque more

Barbeque 6/5/2003

This is one of my hometowns outstanding barbeque resturants. The atmosphere is great for down home barbeuqe. Love the ribs, chicken and beef and love the sauce. Cant get no better in my hometown in FL. havent been there for years but if I want brbque I go there. Prices are great and cole slaw is good. Their sandwiches are great as well even though the meat is dry the sauce makes up for it! Love Sonnys real pit barbeque. USed to go there all the time. Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking, Service Cons: Meat is a little dry more

Tends to be dry and overcooked 4/12/2003

The ribs have little meat on them, but what is there is OK. The sliced pork has most recently been overcooked and dry -- resulting in having to overuse an average BBQ sauce to moisten them. The last few times I've have the chicken the dark meat was fine, but the white meat was dry and overcooked. The atmosphere is normal for a BBQ place -- rustic, wooden table and chairs/benches. They're located througout the Atlanta area and provide consistently average food. Try Pappy Red's, Slopes or Williams Bros for better ribs and pork. Cons: overcooked, meatless ribs, dry chicken more

Best pulled pork I've ever had! 3/7/2003

I love their pulled pork, and my husband loves their sliced pork. The sauces are great, and you get a lot for your money. We eat there at least once a week! more

Consistent. 1/13/2003

Good ribs and chicken. Nice variety of sauces. Servings are nice size, however, servings could be a little hotter. Pros: good taste, good servings sizes, good atmosphere Cons: hotter servings more

Sonny's Yuk! 1/10/2003

Sonny's used to be a great value. The Bar-B-Q specials gave you plenty of good food. However, in the last year or so, something happened. You are served less food and the prices are higher. The Pork Bar-B-Q is very fatty and doesn't have the great flavor as it once did. I've stopped eating there. Pros: Good Parking, Seated quickly, Good Service Cons: Poor food quality, Too expensive more

Bleechk!! 1/9/2003

Sauces were pumped up to be sweet, sour and hot/spicy, but the base is what really needs work -- it is very blah with a hint of bitterness. The smokehouse meats, although tasted fine, were very dry.....yet preferable to attempting to add any more of Sonny's sauces. Pros: Good service, moderate price, easy access Cons: meat like shoe soles, sauces no good, what else is there more

bears know best! 1/9/2003

Pitiful excuse for Southern Barbecue. I wouldn't feed it to a dog! How do they survive as a chain? I guess enough people from up north moved south and don't understand what real barbecue and stew are all about. Every barbecue establishment in Franklin, Stephens, Hart and Madison county serve better viddles. And I wouldn't be seen in a couple of them. Pros: there are none, good parking-yuk! Cons: awful food more

mouth watering 1/9/2003

I have tried several BBQ restaurants in the southeast area, but I have never found anything that taste better than Sonny's. Plus for the price and quantity and overall service is great. I highly recommend to anyone who loves BBQ! Pros: Inexpensive, large quantity, great taste Cons: ambience, crowded, more parking space more

Sonny's is not REAL bbq. 1/9/2003

Sonny's may serve meat cooked in a bar-b-que style, but it is no-where near genuine Atlanta bbq. The meat is sliced and dry and the sauces are too think, too sweet and have too much of a tomato base. Atlanta (and Georgia) bbq is chopped, shredded, or sliced much thinner than theirs, and is loaded with a loose, non-sweet vinegar base. In my family, Sonny's is not even considered a bbq restaurant. more

I love it. 1/8/2003

I am there almost every Saturday. Their ribs and chicken is delicious. And the baked beans are the best. And the tea is wonderful. Pros: Good food more

weak 1/8/2003

Not barbeque at all. Pork not chopped. Ribs unimaginative. Service quite good. more

Totally fake barbque 11/27/2002

If you like barbwure in a bucket. This is NO PLACE for barbque. It is NOT a true barbque restaurant!! Only NON southren people call this place a good restaurant!! more
