If you enjoy a classic bowling experience this is a real gem in Minneapolis. Unlike some retro ten pin centers that seem a bit too obsessed with being kitschy and snarky, Skylanes has managed to maintain its '50's ambience without becoming a cartoon. People still bowl in leagues here and kids are welcome too. The staff is friendly and helpful. From the names of high-scorers on the walls to the cheap pitchers of beer, Skylanes is the real deal. The place is a great deal of fun, it's a bargain, it's clean, and it's close to some nice restaurants in the Keewaydin neighborhood of East Nokomis. Skylanes is a true original!
Pros: Friendly service and a very fun atmosphere
Cons: When busy, you may have to wait for a lane. The lanes can sometimes be a little tricky, but that's part of the fun.
