Vegetarian Goodness! 6/15/2010

This is a great neighborhood breakfast/lunch joint. If you get in on the early side they have some super great breakfast deals! It's all vegetarian, so you don't have to worry about your west coast hippie friends struggling with the menu. The staff is polite and attentive, and the food for the price is a good value in my opinion. There is an interesting history to the place too. Pros: Great Breakfast! Unique Place Cons: nothing really more

Great value 9/2/2009

I've been going here for breakfast for years. The service is always very friendly and it is great, healthy food a a good value. They usually have a special omelette and waffle on the weekends, which keeps things interesting. Pros: Good food, warm service Cons: some bacon would be nice more

Best Vegetarian food in Seattle 7/20/2008

Everything we have ordered here is great - try the Neat Loaf. The staff is wonderful, the menu is fantastic. Even when they are busy it is a relaxed atmosphere. Pros: Great food, prompt seating and service more

Absolutely the Best Vegetarian Restaurant in Seattle! 6/16/2008

Sweet atmosphere, kind service, and delicious soul-food for everyone. Only wish it could be open more hours! I really enjoy the items on their lunch menu. Pros: Pretty & clean place, waiters in saris who don't mind if you're picky, awesome food! more

Fantastic 1/3/2008

My only complaint is that I don't get over there enough. I was just sitting here thinking how tasty a curry of the day from silence heart nest would be and realized that it has been far too long since I made the trip to Fremont from the CD. Go eat there, you'll love it. more

Tasty food, Friendly service 12/17/2007

In my search for finding Seattle's best breakfast places, I stumbled upon this little gem in Fremont. One way to distinguish whether breakfast will be satisfying or not for me, is the homefries that comes with my eggs. They did a good job with them with a decent balance of flavor and crispiness to the potatoes. My omelet was also great. I enjoyed my food and will become a regular I predict. Good little breakfast nook. Pros: Fresh, good, tasty food more

Quirky Sri Chinmoy devotees serve up real yummy food 7/14/2006

What could be more fun than joining a semi-mystical group of sari-clad women for tasty food and unconventional cultish ambiance. Fot those of us who thought the Hari-Krishna's were cute for their kind of dopey well-intentioned naivete, sit down and get served well prepared food instead of doctrine (well not much at least - there are index cards with Sri Chinmoy's wisdom on them and photos of him playing insturments, painting, and bench pressing dump-trucks). Black beans and salsa with poached eggs and toast are killer, waffle and pancake specials are generally spot on, and the drip coffee is imbued with something magical, as it goes down better than most espresso in the city of espresso. Service is sublime but one feels as though the uber-friendly waitresses might be involved in religious servitude. Tom Robbins eat your heart out. Don't drink the Kool-Aid. Pros: Yummy Food!, Women in saris, Vegetarian menu Cons: might weird out members of the religous right more

Weird name, awesome food. 2/14/2006

I've eaten here three times now, and the food has always been exceptional. They have the best mashed potatoes I've ever tasted. The neatloaf sandwich and teecino are also really good. There's a good selection of teas and a daily soup/entree. I haven't had anything bad yet. The waitresses are friendly and happy to answer questions. This has become one of my favorite Seattle breakfast spots, and Fremont is a nice area of the city to visit. Pros: Yummy mashed potatoes, Friendly staff Cons: Hard to find parking more

Delicious Vegetarian Food 9/21/2005

This is a sister restaurant of Ananda Fuara in SF (which by the way has a more expansive menu and tastier food). The atmosphere is "eh", the service is exceptional and the food as always is delicious. It is a bit overpriced but all in all I think it's worth it. Each dish is creative and well executed especially the "neatloaf dinner" which is mock meatloaf made of grains, cheese, nuts, eggs etc.. I highly recommend that dish over all the others. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Parking, Price more

Expensive with poor service... 2/6/2005

I've been to LSD four times. It's close to a friend's work so I'd go there afterwards. The food is *excellent*. I've been really pleased with everything I've had. The french toast is the best I've ever had, and I love the chicken sandwich with the spinach salad. Yum! However, the service is scant and slow. The tables are sometimes dirty. It's also a poor value - they last time I went they charged me $1.50 for a side of syrup! I swore I'd never go back. (This after waiting 30+ minutes for my food.) So, take a chance on it if you have extra money and don't mind poor service - they have good food! Pros: good food, good lattes, toy blocks for kids Cons: poor service, overpriced, dirty tables more

A beautiful spot 1/24/2005

Fremont's gain is the U-District's loss. This little gem of a restaurant features outstanding vegetarian and vegan food at reasonable prices, all served in a bright, colorful, tranquil setting. We had a pumpkin coconut curry that was out of this world. My eleven-month-old daughter found the place engaging and relaxing. We enjoyed the service, the art, and the sense of peace that pervaded the place. We'll follow them to Fremont. Pros: Great service, Close to home, Vegetarian Food more

great food, outstanding coffee 6/1/2004

Great food for breakfast, with friendly service, and the Caffe Vita coffee they serve is damned good! It's the most coffee I've drunk at one sitting----over a day's allotment! It was enough to send me over to Caffe Vita's closest store. The food at Longshoreman's Daughter is really good, in healthy portions, and the ambience is like original Fremont: welcoming funky. Pros: food, service, ambience; coffee more

Mediocre at best 7/13/2003

The service here was quite possibly the worst I've ever received in Seattle. Our waitress made it clear that we were an annoyance to her. She was slow, rude, and disdainful of our polite requests for things like a clean napkin (after I used mine to clean the sticky goo that was on the table when we were seated). The food was blah. My french toast was burnt and my husband's Texas eggs were basically a plate of beans with some eggs on top. We will never, ever go back! Cons: Surly service, Mediocre food more

Pleasant Surprise 1/30/2003

My girlfriend pushed me into eating here, because she thought it looked interesting. I went in expecting little, but left a fan of this restaurant. It's a very neat, clean, tranquil environment for a meal. The server was extremely genuine and nice, and the food selection was interesting. We tried several different dishes, as it's a little out of our way and we don't come to the area that often, and all of them were great. This is a true gem of a restaurant tucked away along University Avenue. It's worth my girlfriend and I making a special trip to the area, and there are few places for which we go out of our way. We're excited to return and try some of the other dishes. Pros: Great menu, Pleasant employees, Tranquil ambiance Cons: None more

yummy, fast breakfast 12/19/2002

not sure why people only go to the hot breakfast spots on the weekend - of course they are going to be packed with a long wait. i went here on a weekday and it was heaven. great, fast food. nice service. the freshest o.j. i've ever had. i'd go back in a sec. more
