Good 4/7/2011

Every once in a while I like spicy food and this is the restaurant I go to. Good Indian food in a very nice place. Prices are reasonable and staff were accommodating when I went here. more

I enjoy meat and love this place! 10/10/2010

Good Place for Carnivores 8/17/2006

The place serves really good food if you do not mind the food being greasy. The Naan's are awesome. Lack of choices on the menu can put you after a while. Their Sheekh Kababs are amazing too...Service and ambience are nothing to talk about....we always do takeout's more

jam packed 3/17/2006

boy oh boy talk about Indian food and this place comes to mind asap. the food is great actually awesome but couple of things. first of all you will have hard time finding parking and if you are one of the lucky ones, best of luck finding seat in the house. i remember when it opened up few years ago the wait was about 2 hours at 6 - 6:30 pm so far it has changed little bit. it is mostly because of the food. another thing is the service and the ambiance its alright nothing great about it. you have to stand in line first to order all the dishes you want. so you have to figure out what all you are going to eat which i find little. i would like to have freedom of ordering what ever when ever i need but again the quality of the food let this flaw go. if you want some good Indian food and don't mind the wait this is the place to go. oh did i say the place is cheap. you have to try their "NIHARI" if they serve it. it is awesome. happy eating.. more

Awesome Indian Cusine 3/16/2006

This place gets packed and you have to spend plenty of time looking for parking even though that the parking is huge. That's actually a good thing. once you arrive to this place, the place is packed at nights, and on lunch times. The menu offers a variety of different indian dishes that meets everyones taste. I love going there, because it reminds you of california which stands for diversity. this is an Indian restaurant but when you walk in, you will find persian, american, chinese, and .......... from all over the world and from all different comapnies too. it's a great place to dine and meet new executives on the way. give it a tr, you will not regret it. i highly recommend the chicken tandoori pieces and puffy breads that are called naans. more

A value meal 12/18/2005

Looking for a good value Indian meal to take out and eat at home. Try Shalimar. While the Shalimar restaurant in-house experience is chaotic (too busy, stand in line twice...once to order and once to pay!), the food is great. Take it home and eat it in more peaceful setting. I would give Shalimar 5 stars if it wasn't for the in-house experience and their use of paper chinese take out countainers more

good Indian-Pak food for carnivores only 9/27/2005

Shalimar has such a good reputation, my husband and I have gone to eat there many times. It's always packed, and the people in there are not white people, which leads me to believe it's got a lot of authenticity going for it. My difficulty with Shalimar is the vegetarian food. The menu seems very unbalanced, with meat being the star. As a vegetarian, I'm left with few choices. My husband, on the other hand, who eats meat, loves Shalimar. I find the dishes very oily and very heavy. So this restaurant seems like a very different experience depending on whether or not you enjoy meat, so I give it a review of "good" as the average of these two extremes. more

Best Food 8/21/2005

This place is definitely the best pakistani food you will ever eat. It has authentic chicken tikkahs, nahri, naan and chicken tikka masalla. You will be crazy to not eat there. I would definitely recommended it to all American’s as well, you don’t have to Pak-indo to enjoy the food. more

I think the food is good, but a little oily 8/9/2005

The non-vegetarian food here is always good, although they use a bit too much oil. Vegetarian food is not their specialty, so don’t go there looking for great veggie food. When you go there for the first time, it could be a little confising. No one will come to your table to take your order. You go up to the line, order, then you sit down and eat and then you pay. The place is always crowded and I have had friends from santa cruz and Saratoga come here for dinner, so I can say people like it. But personally, I think they could use a little bit less oil. The ambiance is that of a fast food joint. Nothing fancy. more
