I have mixed feelings about Service Specialties. Initially, everything went really well. The technicians were really innovative, and they were the only company that would do work in my kitchen, which was a very complex situation, to say the least. Their competitors were looking to get my money, and said they could do my other house work, but, they wouldn't touch the kitchen. Service Specialties found a way to get the job done.
The installers were great. They helped set my A.C unit. They were nice, really responsive, and got out there pretty quickly. When there was a problem, they figured out a way to solve it.
Like I said, they did a full kitchen renovation. It was a complex job, and the guys really thought about how to fix it. The found an inventive way to get it done. A part of the kitchen was going to be difficult to with the air ducts on the AC unit. They found a way to get the vents to work with the constraints. It worked the first time, but it ran into issues.
There was an error, with how the pipe was installed. It was too close to a neighboring wall, and a nail during a floor install punctured the pipe. The A.C broke, and we were out of A.C for about two weeks. Some oil going into the A.C unit, and it broke the door on that. They paid for the pipe, but the door had cracks in it. They said they would get back to me, but when they did, they said it wasn't really their fault.
That left a bad taste in my mouth. I spent around $14,000 dollars, and would've liked for them to cover the repair the $150 door that was broken, but they never followed up.
Honestly, I loved their service until the very end. It took place over two days. Even through our disputes over who should pay costs of the damages during installation, they maintained their cool, and the team did the best they could. I half expected to hear back from them on whether they would fix it. If they were to call me back, and say they would do the door gratis for me, I would definitely say they provide a five star service overall.
