Seattle Language Academy is the premier option in the greater Seattle area for pursuit of your 2nd language learning interests in a group setting. Group courses are well outlined for various languages (see their website). Be advised however, that course outlines don't guarantee facilitation of your desired language. The school has a sensible, yet slightly prohibitive, policy regarding student minimums. If less than 5 students enroll, your desired course will not be available in a standard format or fee. This is probably not of concern for those interested in starting at the 101 level for any language, or if you're taking a more popular language such as Italian, Spanish, or French. However if you're planning on taking a less popular language such as Greek or Portuguese, it may be a bit of a gamble if you're also looking long term. If a standard class isn't avail. you have the option of waiting a whole term for lower level students to HOPEFULLY continue to your level, which may be frustrating if you want to keep your learning momentum. Or, thankfully, you can continue with private courses (offered if less than 5 students at a particular level show interest). Their fees are pro-rated based on the private course's size. IMPORTANT: If you for any reason ARE interested in private instruction, there are more economic choices in Seattle for a variety of languages. Private language courses would be recommended to those looking for more intensive studies but they're especially great if you need schedule flexibility. With group learning at SLA, if you miss a class, you're in a position to play catch-up as there are no make-ups and obviously no reimbursement for missed classes either. All things considered SLA is a great independent linguistic institute, one of the largest in the West, just be sure to take all of their policies into consideration if you're planning long term studies, and make yourself aware of all your options before enrolling.
