Dr. Schwalb is a very comptent orthodontist no doubt about it.
After taking a look at my teeth, he gave me an option between metal braces and clear braces.
I chose clear braces and asked him about the cost he said $5,000. I was pleased.
Six Weeks later, I called his office and they told they just received the OK from my insurance company.
The lady in charge told me it's going to cost me $6,100 (metal braces cost) + $1,400 upgrade to clear braces.
I told her Dr. Schwalb told me it's going to cost me only $5,000 for clear braces.
Fair enough she talked to him offline and got back to me. She told me we will honor $5,000 for metal braces.
But you will have to pay $1,400 to upgrade to clear braces and WE WON'T NEGOTIATE.
Bottom line, Dr. Schwalb is a good doctor. However, he didn't have the courage to talk to me over the phone to resolve the cost issue.
I am very very disappointed.
BTW It cost only extra $500 to upgrade from metal braces to clear braces at other places.
