Best

this place has much more to offer then meets the eye. Its night life on thursdays is the late night place to b

Worst

First of all if you get there before 10pm there's no line. The drinks are cheap and strong. The dance floor is crowded and there is nothing but hip hop playing most of the night. ...

SANGRIA'S IS A PIECE OF sh*t 8/23/2007

DONT RECOMENT IT, WONT EVER GO HERE AGAIN!!! iTS GROSS AND DIRTY, & THIS PLACE SHOULDA BURNED DOWN NOT SHARKY'S Pros: NO PROS AT ALL Cons: 2MANY 2 NAME more

what a dump 8/23/2007

NEVER, ever, ever go here!!! You will be surprised about how rude the employees are!!! The bouncer in the front is totally an AZZ!! He is a muther freaker & he tried 2 pick up on me!!! The door people are extremely rude & this place is dirty on the inside!!! I miss SHARKYS, this place is a JOKE more

Nice atmosphere without all the fuss 7/17/2007

Great priced drinks, Nice location, Great music! I have never eaten here but the night bar scene on the weekends rocks! I have made this bar the place I go when I don't want to worry about getting all gussied up just to have a good time. Very kick back so you can wear jeans and dance all night. The drinks are well-priced so you can go with a $20.00 and have about 4 drinks. The cover is a low $10.00 so it beats the Hollywood scene. Since Sharkees burned down it has gotten a bit crowdy so as long as you show up in line for 10:00 your ok. Pros: Great Value, Good Music, Two dance floors Cons: A bit crowded, Arrive early more

Great sangria, great food, great customer service - would definitely return! 1/29/2007

I went to Sangria in Hermosa Beach for my 22nd birthday. I have to say, I think it was one of my best birthdays ever! I wasn't sure about it because I don't do the trendy or club scene often, so this was kind of a shot in the dark for me, but thankfully it worked out. I went with five friends of differing types and they all had a good time. First, the ambiance was great - darker, sultry, fresh, a little ""exotic,"" and a little of trendy meets old world charm. Secondly, our waitress was awesome! She was extremely helpful, very nice, engaged in friendly conversation with our table, unexpectedly brought me a dessert (I was a bit too drunk to know whether or not it was free by that time) - the dessert was really good FYI, and she even brought us a round a free shots for the table once she saw me and a couple of my girlfriends drinking Long Islands, which are apparently her favorite. She even took a shot with us and I think she may have also been a bar tender. She really did help to make the experience! Drink wise... the Long Islands were average, maybe a little above, the dirty martini was alright but the restaurant's namesake was GREAT! Simply put, the sangria is definitely worth the price! The food was also really good and worth its price. I had their shrimp which they are known for, the quesadillas were good too. The dance scene was only alright, at least IMHO. One room was sorta Latin/dance music and the other was full of mostly older rap. I prefer rock music, alternative, classic rock and other fun oldies or old school rap, but it wasn't horrible. As the restaurant turned into a club it got much more crowded. We called ahead for reservations and the dress was mostly nice/casual. Great sangria, great food, great customer service. I would go back, but not likely for dancing unless I went on a live music night, or for flamenco (I think they have flamenco shows - check their website). more

The bouncer had SERIOUS attitude... 10/22/2006

On a Saturday night, the hip hop beats were good and the drinks were fairly strong. You have to fight your way through the dance floor crowd to get to the bar, though. Like clean air? Too bad -- they keep the folding floor-to-ceiling doors perpetually open, so cigarette smoke from outside drifts straight in. Here's my biggest complaint: the doorman/bouncer decided, out of the clear blue sky, that my friend's baseball hat had to go -- immediately. Nothing was said to my friend upon entry, but hours later he was threatened with immediate expulsion unless he removed his formerly-not-a-problem hat. The bouncer said nothing to the several other people nearby that were wearing hats, though. Whatever, dude. Pros: Dancing, singles scene (post-Sharkey's burning to the ground) Cons: Bouncers with attitude, cigarette smoke, overcrowded dance floor more

piece of serote 9/17/2006

this place is piece of serote, never go here. i am never ever going here again!!!! dont go here!!!! more

wanna party with prejudice people??? Then go here but not if u r hispanic 9/16/2006

PLEASE NEVER GO HERE!!!! A group of friends and I went to this bar to celebrate my Birthday and they didnt even let us in, i called 2 times for the dress code & everyone was dressed properly, in fact they didn't say we couldnt get in because somebody was acting up, or dressed wrong. They just didn't let us in because we were a large group of hispanics. The door man which is black sellout said one of the guys looked like somebody that started trouble the previous week, none of the guys had even been to this place ever before. The also stated that a Hermosa Beach police officer told them that but when we asked to speak to the officer they did nothing, we asked to speak to the manager and they also did nothing. I have never felt so discriminated before in my life. None of my friends were cholos, we did absolutly nothing to deserve the treatment we recieved. Please if you do go party in Hermosa Beach check out another spot there. Please help me spead the word out about this place, don't let Sangria's get away with treating people like dirt. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this review. Pros: there r better places close by that let in hispanic cuz your color dont matter, as long as u got $$$ to spend Cons: cant get in if u r in a large crowd of latinos more
