Party school reputation only top of the iceberg 11/22/2008

SDSU is not one of the best schools in California by any standard. All the UCs are better, most of the CSU campuses are better, and many private schools are better. Most listings put it in the second or even 3rd tiers. The only rankings that make it look good are based on its size, not its quality, and are published by SDSU usually.I went to SDSU after attending classes in 6 other universities (some joint programs) and I have taught at 5 universities and community colleges in addition. With student, research assistant and adjunct faculty experience in 11 institutions, my opinion is based on real data. SDSU's administration is a mountain of red tape that makes the IRS looks friendly. Faculty treats students like cattle, with little or no interest about the student's aspirations or career goals. The party school reputation only illustrates the lack of seriousness, the high rate of failure at SDSU shows the lack of quality in pedagogy and faculty commitment.Even graduate students have terr more

SDSU is Outstanding 8/21/2006

SDSU is wonderful as it is one of the top universities in California and the US. Some people say it is a party school, but there are always students who only party and go to school on mommy and daddy's dime. Who cares, it's free right? Well, for the rest of us (the VAST majority of the student population) this is a serious and professional university. The classes are full of students who are eager to learn, professors who are world-class, and administrators who are dedicated to making this university one of the best. PROS: Research oriented faculty, beautiful campus, trolley access CONS: Not enough parking, some impacted majors more

Horrible 7/25/2005

I have to say that I loved school until i attended SDSU. Not only is it a party school, but some of the teachers and admin and racist. I have had specific problems with the school and took it to the admin. The admin ignored the issues I brought to them. I was put down by a teacher and I just don't see this school as an institution of learning. I passed a majority of my classes by going to class when I felt like it and studying when other priorities didn't interefere with it. Some teachers actually look for you to make excuses on why you don't show up to class and do work instead of making you responsible for your behavior and treating you as an adult. Go elsewhere if you want a quality education. The school is overcrowded and you may or may not get the classes you need. more

Good Unversity 6/18/2005

I'm a junior at SDSU and I'm happy with the school. Although it's a big school and you don't always get your first choice in classes, I've had a good experience so far. The campus is huge but beautiful. Good academic advisors too. With the trolley starting in the Fall of 2005, that will help with the parking situation. more

If you just like to party non stop, then this woould be the ideal schhol for your. But if you want an education I recomend Usd or UCSD. But if you want to smoke non stop, then this is the place to go to school. more

Great School 6/4/2005

This is a very nice and beautiful campus. There are tons of students, but many times it does not seem that busy. At the beginning of the semester make sure you are there early, parking is horrible. Also get your books before the first of a class, the bookstore is jammed packed the first week. The professors are overall nice. You will run into a few that seem grumpy all the time, or just like the fact that they are a professor. PROS: CONS: Parking. more
