didn't think I would enjoy this 11/15/2005

But I did! My husband is a huge aviation fan and we spent most of the afternoon there. I surprisingly enjoyed this museum quite a bit and I am not even that into aviation. It had wonderful exhibits and provided a lot of information. I also think that it is one of the museums that offer free admission on a given tuesday in the month. Definitely worth the time and money to check it out. I didn't think I'd like the museum but I really would go back and bring the kids this time around. a must for any tourist or aviation fanatic, also a good place to bring the kids! more

Aerospace Museum 9/9/2005

"If you're headed to San Diego (California, USA) and your're an airplane or history buff, you won't want to miss the world famous San Diego Aerospace Museum. Your journey through the history of flight begins as you stand beneath a model of the Montgolfier Brothers' hot air balloon of 1783 - the first vehicle in recorded history to break the bonds of gravity and lift living beings above the Earth. See an authentic reproduction of the Wright Bros. 1903 flier and other models of early flight. Marvel at the antics of the barnstormers of the 1920's. Re-live the history of aviation as seen through the eyes of WWI and WWII. And, imagine what it is like to break Earth's bonds and travel into outer space as you get a close up and personal view of NASA's Apollo 9 Command Module. The only Apollo spacecraft on display in Southwestern United States to have actually flown in outer space. Closed all major holidays more

Aerospace Museum at Balboa Park 8/19/2005

The Aerospace Museum has a great collection of old and new planes. Each display there has a vast collection of information on the subject. The staff there is friendly and very informative. The prices are a little steap - but it goes to a good cause. Good place to bring the family to get educated in space! more

Charles Lindbergh would roll over in his grave 8/18/2005

This place is super cool if you are an aerospace aficionado. With a growing collection of modern combat planes includes Russian MiGs and a variety of American fighters, like the F-16 there is something for everyone. My favorites are replicas are of the Gemini, Mercury and Apollo spacecrafts. If you haven’t been lately you might have missed the recently added the Apollo-9. This is truly for everyone; you will see everyone from class field trips and war veterans remembering the glory days. Highly recommended. more

Aerospace Museum 8/18/2005

I didn’t have a high expectation of the museum before I visited it, but it turned out to be quite fun. The museum is pretty big – one of the larger ones in the park. There’s a ton of model airplanes and space equipment. They have movies you can watch, a simulation ride (I forgot of what kind of simulation), and a presentation. I missed the presentation, but it was still amazing learning about the history of flight and space. more

Great place for kids 8/13/2005

A huge aircraft greets visitors to the museum and acts as a great photo opt. Inside there is a great variety of memorabilia to satisfy both kids and adults alike. Kids can also participate in a flight simulation attraction that seemed to be a hit! Be sure to check out the flight attendant exhibit; it was definitely different and interesting. By the way, Balboa Park offers free admission to some of its museums every Tuesday. Look into it! more

Perfect! 8/10/2005

This museum is perfect for kids and adults! It is fun, interesting, and insightful all at the same time! I had so much fun at this museum. Located in Balboa Park, it was easy to find parking. Surrounding areas are beautiful. Makes you value living in San Diego more. San Diego has some of the best museums and its located so close to us. more

One of the best collection of airplanes 8/5/2005

This is an unbelievable collection of planes considering that the collection really started in the 1980s. It starts with the SR-71 Blackbird that is parked out front and winds through more than 100 years of flying history. They are big on military planes (being in a military town), but their are exhibits that focus on early flight to space flight of today. They have cutaway and models and other information. The larger planes are display in the outdoor pavilion. Expect to spend Several hours going through all the exhibits. If you can't make it to the Smithsonian in Washington, this museum is still very good. more

Learn Something While You Have Fun! 8/4/2005

I didn't really know if I would enjoy the Aerospace Museum because looking at planes isn't really my thing. But there are so many interesting things you can learn at the museum, that I had a good time. more

great lessons 7/30/2005

My husband loves this museum. We spent all day there and he never wanted to leave. They have great areas for children to learn and play. If you want to watch a model of an older airplane being built you can buy a ticket to watch them make a replica of classic planes. That is too cool! more

A Celebration of the History of Flight 6/18/2005

This museum is an absolute must for any aviation fan. Begin your visit with a flight simulation that will set your children cackling. After you get your feet back on solid ground, step through the exhibits and transport yourself from the beginning of flight to the current shuttle missions. There's even a replica of Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis. I especially loved the Lindbergh exhibit. There are a few interactive activities for the kids, but mainly, lots of history and a sense of accomplishment. There's never a lot of foot traffic here which gives you a more private and satisfying experience than most museums in the vicinity. more
