Best

Worst

I've always heard horrible stories about this place. It's honestly not that bad, but it's surely not the best pizza in the area.

bait and switch, buyer beware 3/8/2007

Have been ordering there since they opened, loved the subs, BUT, Went march 7th, was handed a laminated menu from the waitress stand, one of many, all the same, ordered a small 2 topping advertised at 11 dollars and change. Cashier, after telling me they don't take credit cards, rings up pizza at more than 15 dollars. I told her that was not the price on the menu and she produces a menu from behind the counter with high prices and told me they were just printed ""today"". It was a scam job, I don't care how good the pizza is, honesty counts for me more than taste. And someone please tell me how anyone can smile as they charge 15 dollars plus for a pizza I had to pick up. Insane!! Pros: na Cons: dishonest more

Since new owners have taken over, do not go! Our soccer team was denied service because it would take up half of their side room. They basically turned us away as paying customers. Pros: Good atmosphere Cons: Rude service more

Bar None Best Pizza in Virginia. 9/17/2005

GRRRREATTTT!!!! 12/11/2003

This is the BEST pizza this side of the B'klyn Bridge. Service is always provided w/a smile. You get your monies worth. And this is REAL pizza not that box stuff from those other places. You haven't had a REAL slice of pizza until you try Sal's Bella Pizza. Need I say more? Pros: Great Food, Service w/a Smile, Family Run more

can't be beat 7/21/2003

best pizza I've had in years. we were in VB on vacation and my kids wanted to go back every night. both kids play soccer and spent the entire time looking at all the jerseys, pictures and articles. service was great and food was even better. I've been to every pizza place in Little Italy in Cleveland and none compare to this. keep up the good work Sal. Pros: excellent food, great value, good service more

Closest to home 3/7/2003

Being from Niagara Falls and an Italian, I feel at home at Sal's. Great Pizza and Cheese Steaks not to mention the family ambience you get from there - did I mention the wonderful music they play? Pros: inexpensive, great tasting, fast service Cons: parking more

Worth driving 200 miles 1/13/2003

My family roots go back to NY, so pizza is a cherished commodity. If you close your eyes at Sal's, you can easily imagine yourself in a NY pizzeria. The pizza is authentic (the owner goes up to the Philly area to get only the best ingredients) and the toppings are generous. And the pizza is available both as a whole pie or by the slice, with both table and counter service. Try that at a chain restaurant. And if you are lucky, you can debate Sal himself over Italian Serie A soccer rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan. Its real Italian pizzeria, without a doubt! Just without the NY pizzeria prices. We live in Maryland now, but a visit to my parents is never complete with a Sal's pizza. Its the best Va Beach has to offer (and I used to work at Chicho's so I know). Pros: Great Menu, Good Parking, Inexpensive Cons: Closed Sundays more

excellent pizza 12/24/2002

Sal's has consistently wonderful pizza and other offerings. This place has simply the best cheese steak subs or eggplant subs to be found anywhere. The service is also excellent and provided in a warm, casual friendly atmosphere. Pros: quality, service Cons: closed sunday more

New York Title #1 12/5/2002

This place has the Best Pizza in the Hampton Roads It's just like being home New York Style, they also make very large Calzones which are also execellent!!! Pros: Inexspensive, Good Parking, Pizza & Calzones more

Hands down, the best around 11/27/2002

Local owner-operated pizzaria. Big pies, thin tasty crust reminiscent of what you might find in the Philadelphia or Jersey shore area. Reasonably priced with a fantastic staff. Highest marks. Pros: Inexpensive, Great food, Great service Cons: limited seating, always busy more

Philly's Best, In Virginia 11/6/2002

We try to eat here at least once a week.pleasant atmosphere great wait staff, and a nice, clean, restaurant.......But the food is what we come for, They say Philly fans are tough to please, well this place goes all out to make you feel at ""home"" A place where you can ask for a Hoagie, and they would know what you are talking about. Great food, Great People. Go and see for yourself. Oh and keep the tip jar, it is another essence of Philly Pros: Great Food, Very Good Wait Staff Cons: Maybe get some booths more

true Italiano taste 11/1/2002

Sal's Bella is the best tasting Italian pizza and subs in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. I moved here 30 years ago from Jersey and until Sal's never found a pizza place that tasted like home! We love it. Just wish they had a shop near Kempsville or Greenbrier so we could order more often. more

Absolutely FANTASTIC FOOD 8/18/2002

If you like Italian food, then Sal's Bella Pizza is the best. It's open 6 days a week and the food is always GREAT. Best Philly Cheese Steak outside of Philly...HONEST!!!!!!!! Try their Italian subs, and their pizza, too. You can't go wrong!!!!!!!! Have been eating there for years!!! Pros: Inexpensive, Everythings great, Family atmosphere more

Best CheeseSteaks & Pizza Outside of Phi 5/28/2002

This is the best CheeseSteak (all varieties) I have ever had outside of Philadelphia. I am a true Philly man who was born and raised in Philly and have traveled around the world and now I dont have to go home to Philly just to eat a good Steak sandwich or get good Pizza. Sals is the Bomb! True Philadelphians fill this place on a regular and it is priced just right. There is a reason the Pizza Hut across the parking lot just closed down. more
