Lovely evening, outstanding sauces. I think they really research and develop even the sauces. It's pure, and always consitent!

My first visit turned out to be terrible. Ordered three appetizers and received the first one quickly. After some time passed we received grilled shrimp and a special appetizer ...

Tamale appetizer special out of this world, adn please offer this often. Chili Rellanos were excellent (it is rare to find them done properly and they are a personal metric of Mexican restaurants) Suggest adding Sopapias to the desert menu. See you again, soon. more

Every one of my meals has consisted of a dozen spectacularly good dishes -- and one spectacularly bad. Still, even the misses signify an effort to try new things, which I very much appreciate. I've been to every one of the top Mexican restaurants in the Chicago area across the price spectrum, and Salpicon is by far my favorite! more

Excellent, as always. Have never been disappointed in the many years I've eaten here. The margaritas are splendid and worth a visit anytime. Cordial, knowledgeable service. Good music. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/26/2013

Awesome food and drink, well above average. Even the standbys such as Stuffed Jalapenos take on an elevated approach at Salpicon while remaining approachable. This is Modernist Cuisine but an elevated and creative approach to some traditional favorites as well as exciting new dishes. more

A great experience all around. Food was excellent. Especially loved the tostaditas de tinga and the mole poblano. more

We were out of town and it was our first visit. Our server was helpful and knowledgeable. Presentation was spectacular and the food was wonderful! A long ways up from the Chili Colorado that shows up on the menus of Mexican restaurants all over our city (St. Louis). My husband proclaimed it was the best meal he had ever eaten. more

We have been to Salpicon several times before (including some special dinners for celebrations) and always swoon over the experience. Everything we had was great, and while we sat at the bar for our experience, it was absolutely great! I ordered a Mescal flight which was a lot of fun, while my wife enjoyed the delicious margaritas. A very, very good experience. more

The taste was superb 3/6/2012

Food quality was great I loved my Huevos Motuleos and will be back sometime soon. Foods are ron the whole. The food was cooked well enough and the taste was superb. So if you are coming here, enjoy their service of the staffs taking you to your table then before ordering run. It will be cheaper and a much better experience. My partner's always like Salpicon and she is crazy about it. I can write only about one specific thing herejust one specific thing, yup, my x bought me a table which is similar to the one at this restaurant after finishing off our dinner here wohooooo! I am the luckiest lady! :) Merlot is what I was expecting on that evening but Blanc is the wine we shared. Now Blanc is going to be one of my favorite wines. more

Honest food 2/27/2012

I had the Tinga Poblana and I could find no fault with it, nice portions and the flavors were to die for. Can't wait to go back again. Lovely food, we ordered mostly off the specials menu. Every dish was well thought out, well cooked, and well-presented. Nice decor, stylish and crowded in a good way. Staff were great, especially the head waiter who was onto everything.A great place to eat out with the family especially in summer when the place is really buzzing. The staff are always friendly and the service very good. An Excellent place to hang on with your family members. I have heard mixed thoughts on this place from a friend and I recently dined there and was very surprised. more

Delicious food, great atmosphere 2/20/2012

We most certainly will return and will be telling all of our friends of the wonderful experience. The food was unbelievable, like the decor and ambience. By far the best Mexican restaurants I have been to in Chicago. The flavors of the curries taste so au more

Excellent service and very good food 2/14/2012

The foods are very well presented, fresh and in good sized portions for the prices. We asked for a Tostaditas de Tinga and got exactly what we asked for. The Tostaditas de Tinga is unusual, which is why we chose it. All my friends appreciated for the great food we had. You will find it pleasure to be in Salpicon Restaurant. Love dinning at Salpicon, definitely a place where they have very nice and good service. Been there twice, both for special occasion, we just loved it being there. Chiles Rellenos is definitely my favorite. They have a specialty that you need to pre order, the dishes are fully packed with flavor and when they start serving you. The meat just falls apart from the bone, and are juicy. more

Great food, wine and service 2/8/2012

Salpicon is our benchmark restaurant in Chicago. All food we eat when dining out is compared to what we have had there. It is yet to be matched we were absolutely stunned with both the taste and the quantity of the food items. It?s simply outstanding. We still talk about it 6 months after we went there. Person who likes to try different kinds of appetizers will love this place for sure. Food was reasonable, atmosphere was good and the staffs were friend enough to sustain us. All of us loved it; we had a wonderful dining which was enjoyable as well as unforgettable. This restaurant serves sapid foods, which has a lovely feel about it and has been very much captivating. I'd recommend to individuals who want to possess a great time dinner along with loved ones. more

This was a very good place. Good chicken dishes 1/30/2012

Great portions, friendly staff and a gratifying atmosphere. Had a great time at Salpicon restaurant. The set up and inner decors of the restaurant were really appealing and the staffs were friendly and humble. After much deciding I pick - opt the almuerzo which were delicious I had the Tequila Sunrise which is made with Herradura Blanco What can I say about it, other than it was so good! Highly recommended, I'll certainly be back. We had a fabulous time here, everything we choose been excellent. While our picks were the Huevos Rancheros, Huevos con Chorizo. All the choices we had were great. My partner, who is not normally a huge fan of entries, also raved about the items. Honestly a great eatery. I would highly recommend to people who would like to have a good lunch with family. more

Great Mexican foods 1/23/2012

I took my wife to Salpicon, we both loved it! The food, environment and staff really made the dining well. The food was so palatable; they have such a wide selection. It did make it a little tough to decide on what to have. I went with the appetizers. I highly recommend this dish have so many flavors and are very filling. My wife had the combo, she said hers was better. Overall it was a great night. I had a beautiful dining here on a Monday night. Came across this from a website and decided it was worth a visit based on its high rating. The food is very well presented, fresh and sapid. But I think the price did reflect the quality. The staffs were always agile in nature and it makes a lovely serene feel. Definitely will be going back to Salpicon soon. more

Not authentic but contemporary. I was out of cash on that day and left my VISA card at home, being a regular customer ? I lost my face but the manager was polite enough to let me pay, on my next visit. A manager recognizing all the customers is not something you get at a regular restaurant. Besides their best service, the ambiance is not something that can be forgotten more

Nice Mexican Restaurants Chicago 12/11/2011

Vegetarian menus from it's greatest. Proceeded to go for this location on the Fri night along with my personal gf. The waitress sitting all of us on the comfy location.. The actual support had been really pleasant as well as quick. Nevertheless, the actual veg-food arrived within little meal as well as high quality had been really worth the cash. Have you been buying location along with excellent atmosphere this is actually the correct location. Me personally as well as my personal gf experienced an incredible speak, following quite a long time. more
