I visited the Russian Vodka Room with a Russian friend of mine, and had an awesome experience (but I'd feel just as comfortable going with non-Russians). We set a reservation for ...

My feeling is that this place is not good for food anymore, only for a few drinks. I am Russian and I am deeply hurt by them putting vinegar in pickled mushrooms (this dish used t...

Get their infused vodkas, the rest you can have anyplace else. Pros: fun crowd, good prices Cons: Stalin and Lenin? more

Excelent drinks and service 8/8/2003

The name may be ""Russian"" but the crowd is mostly American. A great place to have a drink and listen to some great live piano. All kinds of people drinking all kinds of vodkas and have a great time. Pros: Professional B'tender, intimate atmosphere, great crowd Cons: not open 24 hrs a day, They don't accept WIC, No place like it. more

Real Russian food and drinks. 7/3/2003

This place rocks! Real Russian food, appetizers are especially good (pickled vegetables, smoked fish, cold meats). Great selection of native Russian vodkas. I am Russian myself, lived in NY for 5 years but never knew that this place existed. Friend of mine told me about this place during one of my trips to NY several years ago. We went there and fell in love with this place. I go to NY several times a year and we go there all the time. I noticed that over the years place got busy and service is not as promt as it used to be and waitstaff looks pretty tired but everything else remained the same. more

Great Spot 4/29/2003

Even though this place is usually overcrowded, if you are lucky enough to get a table you will have great time. Try their infusions, but be afraid of overdoing it. The drinks are very smooth and you usually notice too late, that you should have stopped four shots ago. Chances are you will meet a russian celebrity there! Pros: drinks, atmosphere Cons: parking, overcrowded more

Surprisingly Russian 4/23/2003

If the old Soviet-style menus don't give you a taste of Russian, something else in this restaurant will. There are plenty of excellent, authentic Russian dishes, as well as a few clichés. The service is also authentic, in that the staff is just as inattentive as they would be in Russia. However, the food and the atmosphere are so nice that you hardly notice. My crawfish in garlic sauce were excellent. The Martini, however, left a lot to be desired. (Pravda retains its claim to the best martinis in NY) Despite its location, the Russian Vodka Room is surprisingly inexpensive. Five entrees and four drinks cost us about $100. Overall, I recommend it and will be returning. Pros: Good Atmosphere, Great Food Cons: Service not great more

Russians do drinking right. 2/7/2003

I love this place! No pretention, just people having fun. A real bar atmosphere. Always tons of characters and random Russians. It definitely is a place to go with lots of friends, not too romantic. If someone doesn't have a good time here, they have issues. Try the infused vodka, but be wary. First time i got the peach, it was delicious- strong but fruity. the second time, it was too vodka-ey. It wasn't too bad because after 15 minutes, you can't taste anything, anyway! Plus a great selection of regular vodkas. Have a good drunken time. more

This Place Rocks 11/10/2002

The Russian Vodka Room is one of those bars that make NYC so special and unique. If you are in midtown and looking to start the night off with a bang by all means start here. Try all the different flavors of Vodka. The crowd is not glam, but down to earth New Yorkers some looking to just enjoy the atmosphere others getting totally smashed ie. my friends and I. Be warned that the Vodka definitley makes for a rowdy and eventful night! Plus russian chicks are hot! Pros: Liquor, Staff, Atmosphere Cons: Don't over step your, bounds, you will get, beat down. more

Lethal drinks 10/18/2002

Cool place, just a touch of seediness adds to the eastern-block atmosphere. But beware of the martinis! They taste like there isn't that much alcohol in them, but after a couple, you'll walk out of there trashed and wake up the next day with a hangover you'll never forget! more

Fun for Everyone! 9/24/2002

I am not Russian but many of my friends are. Whenever we go there we get seated very quickly and order about 10 carafes of the deliciously infused vodkas. Great place for a group! Warning: do not attempt to finish an entire carafe by yourself...they are potent!!!!! more

A great place to stop after work to enjoy a variety of International and home made vodkas. Great home made flavors suchs as Ginger, Cranberry and Raspberry (although I would recommend avoiding the Garlic!) more
