It's very eastern european. Vodka flights (do the Jewel of Russia) Beef stroganoff . Blini's , borscht pricey but delicious great pre-theatre fare on a cold Chicago night. more

Not good 12/17/2008

My boyfriend and I thought this would be a nice place for my birthday dinner. We found the atmosphere to\r be rather tense. Especially the way the owner walked around and intimidated the staff. Next time we\r come to Chicago, we're going to get sushi! more

Warm and cozy! Excellent bakery 11/25/2007

We went with a whole family for lunch and it was amazing. Prices are not all that creazy and excellent service, food and coffe. The decor is outstanding. Want to come back!:)\r \r Carefull, need to mention the waiter cheated on food!!! We ordered special lunch for 3 people, he brought only for 2. When i asked -how we supposed to split everything for 3 people, he artgued that this is the way it tis suposed to be. I insisted and then... he brough another tray fool of food!!! He just forgot to bring it!!! He told me he never knew :))\r That was just such an obvious lie! But there is a pleanty of food and we took some boxed home for breakfast! Pros: bakery and decor Cons: cheating on food, wait stuff!!! Watch! more

Yea!!!! Vodka 4/11/2006

The service was really great. The waiter was extremely helpful with the vodka choices which I considered an excellent experience. We were promptly seated and didn't have to wait long at all for anything. The stuffed mushrooms were a favorful appetizer but you don't get very many. This was actually an experience I would classify as interesting because of the Russian and European flair. My only problem was that I thought the main course was average. Pros: great service, Vodka varieties, prompt Cons: Average tasting food more

Don't go if you have a time limit 12/9/2005

Food's great, atmosphere over-the-top Rrrrrussian shmaltz, but service and kitchen timing are appalling. If you have theater or concert plans, this is not the place for a pre-show meal. Even though we were seated in a half-empty restaurant with more than enough time to spare, it took 40 minutes after our order was taken to get our entree - and the only appetizer was one soup! Stay away unless time is no object. more

A Wonderful Adventure! 6/1/2004

I don't understand why this restaurant has not been voted as NUMBER ONE in Chicago! It has it all. Great food, excellent service, close to theaters and the loop, and even a romantic atmosphere. The prices are within reason. When I go into the city, (I live 50+ miles out) this resturant has become my first choice for dinner or lunch. I've tried several items on the menu and never been disappointed. Truely a great adventure. Be sure to save room for desert. Pros: awesome food choices, prompt service, romantic more

A must for adventure 6/4/2003

It was very russian, very romantic and very fun. Food is diffrent but have a big menu. Quiet and romantic more

Truly a Treat! 3/7/2003

What a treat! The food was great. The service was outstanding. I was actually able to sit and have a quiet conversation in a full dining room with my wife...a first for us in Chicago. I had the stroganoff...classic, delicious. My wife's dish was outstanding as well. I was amazed at the selection of dishes....beef, chicken, vegan, seafood. Multiple choices of each. Even more options for vodka (of course)! We didn't have any vodka...but we will next time, for sure! Pros: service, quiet, wonderful food Cons: can't think of any more

Fun and Tasty 12/16/2002

Great food, from heavy traditional dishes laden with meat, to lighter fare, vegetarian and otherwise. The vodka service can't be beat-- choose three from their vast s selection from around the world for ten bucks. more

The best restaurant for vegetarians 8/14/2002

Fantastic place! Great vegetarian selections, caviar, great vodka selections! My favorite is horseradish flavored vodka. Friendly staff, elegant ambiance. This place deserves to be in the best list! more

Try it all 8/13/2002

Unlike all other Russian restaurants I have visited this one had many vegetarian options. I have been there twice and tried different things each time. The restaurant definitely feels eastern european and the food is fantastic. We took advantage of the variety in appetizers, soups, salads and side dishes in order to try a very wide variety of things. All were good. The chick pea stew and the Uzbek dumplings were highlights. Pros: Russian Food, Vegetarian Options, Russian Ambiance Cons: High Price, Parking more

A Five 'Czar' Restaurant ! 7/29/2002

Vadim Muchnik's Russian Tea Time is quite simply the finest Eastern European cuisine in the city. From traditional Russian to Azerbajani, everything has an authentic flavor and classy presentation. They offer a great variety of food for vegetarians, dedicating a large portion of the menu to those diners. Vodkas and caviars are of course there to be had, but the appetizers to the entrees to the desserts are all first rate, proving the richness of the region's culinary heritage. Pros: excellent food, attentive service, great food variety Cons: sometimes crowded more
