Rugger's Café - Family Style with some frills 11/9/2006

Rugger's Café is one of the newest additions to the North Liberty line up of restaurants. They are located just off of Hwy 965 on the east side. Our party of six was seated in the establishment's only elevated corner table right inside the door. I felt a bit "on display", but the atmosphere and decor kept my mind off of me and on my menu as I tried to decide what to order. They offer a wide range of items on their menu which should easily cater to just about anyone's pallet and pocket book. It quite long to list the variety they offer on their menu. They are open 6 days a week (closed Monday's) from 6:00am to 9:00pm. The dining area isn't large but doesn't feel small either. The combination of wood tones and lighting adds a simple elegance yet still felt very homey. You shouldn't have any trouble having a pleasant dining experience at Rugger's Café in North Liberty. more

Pleasant dining experience... 6/29/2006

Yesterday my daughter and I took the opportunity to check out "Ruggers Cafe," the new restaurant which was just recently built in North Liberty. This cafe is located at 420 Community Drive. It is situated behind the US Bank off of Highway 965. We had a wonderful meal! We arrived around 11:00 a.m. and so it wasn't very busy yet. Seating consists of your typical tables and booths, but it does have some outdoor seating as well. In addition, a private "party room" is also available. There is even a countertop with stools where you can sit if you just want an ice cream treat. The menu has your typical "American" fare with burgers, chicken, homemade soups, and fresh pies. My daughter choose the chicken tenders kids meal and I had a french dip sandwich. The portions were huge! My sandwich was large and they gave me a choice of french fries, coleslaw, or baked beans. Prices were reasonable as my sandwich cost $7.95. We really enjoyed eating here and plan on coming back. My only suggestion is that they currently do not take Discover credit cards. I use my Discover card everywhere. That aside, my daughter and I give this place 2 thumbs up! more
