Love Rudy's!! 1/3/2011

Love going here, but its always really slow getting your food. It much better during the week when its less busy. I hate having to yell over everyone to give the guys in the back my order. The pork loin is great! more

Very Overrated 5/15/2010

Our first and last visit. I ordered a baked potato with beef. The small potato was passable (at best), but the beef was not recognizable. It was scooped from a slop can and must have been several days old. Fixings were very limited, small, and prepacked. Save your time and money and go somewhere that is not living on a worn out reputation! Cons: Terrible barbecue, terrible service more

dissapointing 12/22/2009

I am a fan of the Rudy's in Austin, so i was thrilled when they opened up here. This was so disappointing, they seem to have serious problems keeping the brisket at proper temperature, it is cold when you get it. There is no noticeable difference between the dry and moist trims. The sausage portions are misleading and overpriced. The staff seems bored and not as lively as in Austin. Guess i will continue taking road trips to Austin instead of eating here. Pros: chop is good, Cons: meats are cold, portions are small, prices are high more

DIdnt know they had one in Spring ... Try it when you go to San Antonio 1/27/2009

You know I love the one in San Antonio... I didn't even know they had one here, in Houston. from the reviews, I am glad I didn't . I have to say though, when people work here in Houston, they don't give a hoot which could ruin anything . There is another one open on 290 north before the beltway.. more

Telling it like it is. 8/7/2008

Honestly....... Texas born and raised, I have enjoy many a bar-b-q. This was take home and we ate within 25 minutes after leaving the ""store"". Worst I have ever eaten; just being honest. The brisket was dry and soaked in black pepper. The sausage was undercooked. I wanted to go back and tell them, but, it was so frustrating and disappointing. Just did not want to deal with it. Won't go back. Cons: Poor bar-b-q. more

The basics! 3/27/2008

I have been a fan of Rudy's in Austin since the early 90's and was very excited to introduce it to my children when the Spring location opened. My son and I stopped in on March 13th at 5:30 after a track meet and ordered to go. \r Store was very busy which usually means that any food left over from lunch has been burned through or the shift change would have replenished with new. My number one pet peeves of all .......are bad baked potatoes. \r If someone is going to take on the daunting task of having them on the menu there is a very simple process in the businees that insures freshness ( Steak N Ale refined the process) and it is very simple.\r Enough or I could go on and on!\r Bottom line is I got home and had a burnt baked potato that was not edible. I even have pictures! The colslaw was dry and the waterery dressing was at the bottom of the container, another bad system Rudy does not follow that checks recipe procedure and someone trained also watching how something is mixed and then portioned....etc........\r Barbeque, baked potaoes, and coleslaw are very straight forward products which are either fresh or not and Rudy's is missing some very basic fundamentals in a brand new store. Sorry guys! Good luck! more

Good - Fun Experience 2/27/2008

Ate at Rudy'sfor the first time today. Friendly service for a start and quick. They move you thru fast. Typical barbeque fare and the food was good but not great. What was fun was how you can order your , meats a-la-carte and by the 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, etc...pound. As much or as little as you like. Potato salad and other sides are a-la-carte as well so you just order what you like and don't get what you don't want. \r \r They give you your food in a flate carry tray that reminded me of the old coke bottle trays (remember the old green coke bottles from year's past) then you seat yourself and enjoy the food and experience. A good place for lunch.\r \r more

Great Bar-B-Q!!! 11/7/2007

Rudy's has the best barbeque in town! Atmosphere is casual and kid friendly. Line is a little long but worth the wait. The lean brisket sandwich is the best I've had! Prices are resonalble and quantity is plenty! Pros: Great food & service Cons: line for food orders more
