Hi everyone! This is Mandi, one of the guest coordinators at Urban Roots Salon. I am writing a review to invite you to our End Of The Summer Charity Event With The Myositis Association and special celebrity guest, Fabio! I love Urban Roots and Rosey! I found them on Citysearch about a year ago and have never been disappointed. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm super picky about my highlights and Rosey has really done an amazing job and exceeded my expectations. I just recently decided to go full-on blonde and WOW! It came out better than I could ever imagine. I feel hot, my hair looks great and I love their new shampoos and conditioners. They leave your hair sooooo soft, even on my lightest blond pieces. \r Rosey and her staff are super friendly and so knowledgable about their craft that I love coming back again and again. One of the main reasons for great reviews is because they offer a free deep conditioning FOR A REVIEW ON city search. Yet they forget to mention that they make you sign a waiver before starting any work. But yet when they damage your hair they don?t offer no apology or at least the deep conditioning, their customer service goes out the door, as they don?t try to salvage any losses or work with you, although they are quick to offer you additional services for an extra charge, and remind you that you did sign a waiver, and that they are not responsible for any damages. I made my appointment with Rosie and went in to get some highlights. The only person that was friendly was Rosie, but that?s only because she is the owner. In previous years I have never had problems with other salons causing damage to my hair, even with bleaching colors versus this salon. Even without getting any blonde highlights they caused damage to my hair. They over processed it and caused extremely damage to it. When I walked out of the salon I got into my car and looked in the mirror. I noticed that my skin was stained. I had stains all over my forehead, on my ears, behind my ears and on the back of my neck. When I went back to tell Rosie, she had the nerve to tell me what products I could use from my house, or buy at the store so that I could remove the stains myself, although I just got though paying $300 dollars for my hair. For the amount of money that they charge, I was expecting a far superior service and quality of work, yet they don?t provide any of them. It is needless to say that I would never return, nor would I ever refer anybody there. more

I am impressed with the Urban Roots professional coloring-specially highlights. Chemo Reynoso did these blonde highlights on my hair,and styles my hair beatifuly. I highly recommend it for anybody looking for a salon. The staff is very nice,they cater to your needs as far what you desire in hair service. Check it out. I love it. Amazing service. Mary-Anne did my hair and she did an amazing job. Love the customer service. When I first walked in, I was greeted and she asked if I wanted a drink. How awesome! The hairdressers were very kind to me. Love it. And definitely will go back. I will never go anywhere else. Before I found this salon I kept jumping form one place to antoher but not any more. I found the best place, with the best staff and I love it, and Mel is the one that performs miracles on my hair, every time I go I just let her know what lenght I wan my hair and that the rest is up to her, and I just trust her, and the results are amazing!!!! and everybody is so nice, hope to see you soon guys!!! more

I really enjoyed my experience at this salon....I'm used to getting my hair done in Pasadena but when I saw one of my friend's hair right after she got done here, I had to try this place out! Even though this place is a little out of the way for me...I was highly satisfied with the service, my hair color and cut....I will definetly come back! Thanks Kat! I went in with Kat (I think??) and it was a great experience. The girl at the front desk was incredibly nice and friendly. Not snobby at all like some other chain stores around. I met with my stylist and she was very friendly and also not the least bit snobbish (which is a huge deal to me). We talked about a lot of things, especially our dogs, lol, as we both have new puppies! She really took her time when she blew out my hair and it looked fantastic! I felt like a celebrity! Usually when stylists give me a blowout they don't give me enough volume at the roots but Kat took the time to make sure I had that needed volume. She also did my layers very nicely. The only thing is I would have liked to hear a little more input from her as far as suggestions. I have a hard time making hair changes by myself. Other than that the experience was great and I can't wait to go back! Pros: Super friendly staff! Cons: hard to find location more

Three perfect adjectives to describe how I felt upon leaving the salon. I walked in looking like a total mess, and once Chemo, my amazing stylist, was through I looked like a completely different person!!! I have really thick and nappy hair, he was able to tame my wild mane and leave my hair soft, silky and smooth. He also gave me tips on how to manage my hair on my own in order to keep my look hot. He is totally pro when it comes to knowing what to do with his clients and creates fabulous looks. Also, the rest of the staff is very friendly and welcoming, and there are smiles all around. Don't waste your time going to those chain salons - Urban Roots takes good care of all their clients and does not disappoint. Urban Roots is a very comfortable salon. All employees are very friendly and their service is superb. Rosanna has been my stylist and she does great hair cuts and highlights! My daughter has seen her a couple times, as well, and LOVES it. Everyone is treated with respect! Pros: Ambiance is excellent, Service is superb, Prices are good! Cons: None! more

I just went to Urban Roots for an up-do by Chemo this past saturday. It was beautiful! Of course it didn't really stay in because my hair is just like that, but Chemo really did try his best to make it stay for the event 4 hours later. The atmosphere of the salon is just so metro and relaxing. Not only was Chemo super cool, but so were the rest of the hair stylist & they had much to say so the conversation was nice. I recommend this salon to anyone!! Pros: atmosphere, stylist, attitude Cons: nope more

i've been to urban roots many times, but my last visit was my first with stylist kat who gave me an awesome new hair color that she recommended (over the one i had picked out) and i have to say i'm glad i listened, the color ended up complimenting me wonderfully... so all in all those stylists really have a knack for knowing what will look good on you! and to top it off they were having a buy one get one free on their styling products, so i ended up getting a 16 dollar conditioner for free! Pros: Great customer service, ambiance, and stylists! Cons: nothing!:) more

I went to Urban Roots for the first time primarily to meet with ""Chemo"", who is an excellent stylist. The staff quikly greeted and offered me a beverage. Chemo was gracious and attentive while I explained my reason for being there. The other stylists were all friendly and caring and seemed to show great customer service. I would highly recommend ths salon for it's ambience, technique, service and customer skills. Chemo, is an expert stylist with a wonderful personality and a unique vision for his craft. Walking into the Salon with no appointment i was expecting to be turned away. But that was not the case with Urban Roots. I received a happy welcome and was promptly introduced to Chemo. The ""great"" stylist that would cut my hair. He was to say the least very talkative(where i lacked) very funny, and very charming. I sat in that chair with medium long/ damaged hair. Walked out with a fantastic short very chic and cute cut. I was very satisfied with the service and i can say that Urban Roots has made a permanent customer. I have been looking a Salon close to my house, finally decided to try Urban Roots, read some reviews, and was satisfied. My experience was great Chemo my stylist listened to what I had to say and worked with me. I explained the frustrations I had with my last to stylist sand needed to fix what they had done. He did a great job! I will be back!!! and Cat the assistant shampooed my hair and gave me a great massage had a headache and it was gone after my shampoo.\r more

This one is for Chemo...absolutely the best, i can trust him in his opinions.The entire staff is great they all know what they're doing and theyre very good at it. It's a fun atmosphere. I absolutely love my hair. more

I am so happy with my new look that anna gave me! I was a first time client, and was nervous about trying something new with my hair. Anna took the time to look through style books with me and discussed options that would work with my needs. I even got a few highlights put in! The place was a hip and fun, and everyone was really friendly! the whole staff made me feel welcome even though i wasnt getting my hair done by them... which is rare. out of all the salons in downey... urban roots is by far the best.
