I was traveling with an older person in my group who often has trouble with stairs due to a leg issue. I told the motel, when making my reservation, that I needed a main floor room for that reason. The man I talked to said it would not be a problem to fill this request, and then he gave me a confirmation number, which ended in 217. I arrived at the hotel on the day of our reservation and met with the man who had taken my reservation. I was told that the person who had our room downstairs decided to stay an extra night and they only had a room upstairs, so I said I understood their situation, and I managed to help the person up the stairs, with much discomfort for her. It was late at night and we had no other option. I did not say anything more about it, but I feel I must have been lied to. Since my motel room number was 217 and my confirmation number ended in 217, I realized I was being put in that room from the moment I made the reservation, and I feel I was lied to upon check-in. My reservation was clearly never entered for a main floor room. I let it go until I got my credit card statement today. I see I was overcharged by about $20 because I was supposed to get a senior discount. I sent an e-mail message and did receive a call tonight. The lady told me she received my e-mail and immediately told me that I was lying about being promised a main floor room because when I made my reservation (at least 6 weeks before my hotel stay), they were already booked on the main floor. (But then why did the check-in guy make up the story about someone staying longer in the room we were supposed to get on the main floor?) Then she told me I was also lying about being quoted a senior rate $20 less than what I was charged at the regular rate, (which was super expensive for that type of motel, but it's the only one in the area). I have stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton for the rate they charged me and had a lot more room and updated amenities! I asked the lady why she even called me if she was going to insist I was a liar. I then informed her that when I Googled her motel today to find her e-mail contact information, I saw other reviews that said she overcharged and she told me, ""Oh, you are just going to use that against me now! That is not fair!"" I decided that I did not need to get hollered at, so I ended the call, called my credit card company, and I got my $20 back. The beds may be okay for some, but I certainly could not fall asleep well on them. Like the other review said, drive to Sheboygan and stay at a nice hotel there. You will get a nicer hotel for this or a better price and definitely have friendlier service! I will NEVER stay there again!
