After calling out 4 different plumbing companies to my house, we chose to work with Rescue Rooter out of Kent. Tony was our tech and he was so patient with my kids - who like to "help"...
This was our situation. We have three bathrooms in the house, 2 back-to-back down stairs and one 40 feet away from those upstairs. One of the toilets downstairs started backing up, we used a plunger, didn't work. It started coming up into the tub. YUCK! We tried a blow-out bag down the washing machine drain line to see if something was stuck (our laurndry room is in that particular bathroom), and that helped but not enough. So we started calling plumbers in the area. Two "big guys" and two "mom & pop shops". I normally like the little guys because they are local and become your friends for life, but in this instance they were not the most honest of the bunch... :( Two companies said that it would be cheaper to just repipe our entire house, one said we needed to dig a trench and have a cleanout installed (but wait, we have two easily accessible cleanouts, why do we need another?) Anyhow, Rescue Rooter really rescued us!
Tony was very honest with us, letting us know that tackling our problem with baby steps was the best way to go, even though in the end it might cost us a bit more. The other companies who came out all gave us horrifying stories about what would happen in our house if we didn't do all the things they said we should do. Tony's approach was, we'll try to snake your main drain, if that doesn't work then we'll have to use the water jet, but then the charge for snaking is cut in half... We ended up just needing the snake and two drain line pipes replaced. It cost us less than two of the other companies had quoted, the other one couldn't do the work for nearly a week. On top of Tony being very helpful and respectful, he taught us some tips and tricks to keep our lines clear (of course, the real problem this time was that our two-year old had flushed our older daughter's keys down the toilet, we soon found out... I was wondering where those keys went!)
Another nice thing about Rescue Rooter, when you get your drain lines cleaned out, they offer a free TV inspection of your drain line, so you can see if there are any tree roots and other obstructions in it. Most companies were quoting $150 for that service alone.
Needless to say, we are very happy with Rescue Rooter and will definitely be calling them for service in the future!
