We stayed here for just one night. When we pulled up I was underwhelmed by the appearance of the place, but the lobby was nice, and when we got into our room it was fine. I inquir...

I spent the last two weeks at Ramada Inn for professional development training as a teacher in Chicago. I was treated with the utmost respect and courtesy from our hostess, Jessie Coffey and Victoria Coats. These two employees made partonizing the resturant an enjoyable experience. The food was great, especially the mashed potatoes. more

This is the closest hotel to University of Chicago--and the price was right. My son and I thought the room was fine! The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, the air conditioning worked (and muffled road noise), the water pressure was good and the bathtub drained, and the wi-fi worked. Really that is all I'm looking for in a one-night hotel stay. Oh and the front desk people were friendly and efficient. more

Stayed there for a business event, the hotel is a little afar from chicago center, a 20 dollar ride with a cab, but there is a shuttle provided free from the hotel. Nearby there are some restaurants. The rooms are large, with the basic two beds and bathroom, a little out of date and old, but very clean, confortable and the bathroom was reformed with nice instalations. The breakfast is payed apart, w/ many options in the menu and fair price, and the restaurant is 20 meters distant from the rooms. Staff is very helpful. I thought it was a good option and nice cost-benefit ratio, just the distance from downtown is the disadvantage of the hotel. more

Our purpose on our recent trip to Chicago was to be near the U of Chicago but I almost didn't book this hotel based on old photos and reviews. It was an easy drive or walk from this hotel to just about anywhere you need ot go in Hyde Park. The room was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, bathroom was clean, towels provided as needed, hote water for shower was hot and plentiful. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear the shower above you when you are in the bathroom. You can hear traffic on Lakeshore Drive but it wasn't loud enough to keep us awake. We had a beautiful lake view and took a nice walk along the lakeshore which was an easy walk to get to the lake access bridge from the Ramada. We ate breakfast and had a nightcap at the Lakeshore Cafe dining room and bar where the food was good and the people were friendly. We did not use the pool but it looked refurbished and refreshing. We were driven downtown by very accommodating Ramada Inn shuttle service. All in all, a very good value. more

It's within Walking distance to the Museum of Science and Technology, and a short cab ride to the Magnificent Mile. The staff were very helpful and friendly.\r \r The BEST part of this hotel is the Breakfast Buffet right next door. $10 a person, all you can eat and that includes Juice and Coffee. It was excellent, and we used it both mornings we were there. \r \r The facility itself could use a little renovation on the outside.... the rooms were larger than I expected.. but were pretty standard Hotel fare as far as design.\r \r Free Wi-FI in the Cafe only, I couldn't connect in my room. \r \r I'll stay here again if I visit Chicago. It's overall a good value.\r more

I cannot say enough about the staff at this hotel. We were traveling with children and they gave us a early check in AND our car stayed there the day we checked out (St. Patrick's Day of all days). Staff answered every question with a smile and were very friendly and helpful. Parking was FREE, and this was huge for us. The shuttle was fabulous. It always left on time and we had front door service to all museums, etc. We were dropped 30 feet from the Chicago River ON ST. PATRICK'S DAY to watch them dye the river. What service!! The two drivers we had were so friendly and pleasant. The only time we had a problem with the shuttle was when a staff (I think actually the owner or manager) gave the wrong pick up point to our driver. Every other day, all we had to do was call and they picked us up. Room was super clean and neighborhood was really cool. I was with my husband and two young children and we thought it was great. I would have liked it better if the rooms in the main hotel had heat/cool control. It was unusually warm for March and with the window open, the traffic was too loud. I also think adding a fridge and microwave would really make me want to stay again. Price was awesome for all the service we got. more

I visited Chicago with my 5 and 7 year old and stayed at Ramada, Lake shore. The location is great with free parking was a bonus. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable. The manager took a few minutes to find out was everything okey with our stay. In fact, She recommended a few places where my kid had a amazing time more

Great people. My most important factor is comfortable beds, and they are comfortable. The lake is right next door, which is gorgeous and wonderful for walking. A small market is within 2 blocks. Taxis to downtown are about $15. All in all, if I had another extended stay, I would return. more

The staff were helpful and kind; the pool was beautiful (the kids swam in it); the room was a king suite and we had a sofa bed and rollaway for the boys. Housekeeping made up both beds for the boys. The restaurant was reasonable and the view of Lake Michigan fantastic. Don't be afraid of giving it a chance. It isn't a new hotel but we enjoyed our stay. The free parking and shuttle service is a big plus. Thanks Ramada. more

I personally feel that Ramada Inn is one of the hotels with reasonable room traiffs offering standard quality of food, rooms, services. Especially, we enjoyed the quality and quantity of complimentary breakfast that is been offered. Room service was good more

This hotel is conveniently located on Lake Shore Blvd. Great place to view Lake Michigan and the downtown City lights. The hotel is not in tiptop shape but everything worked, was clean and very quiet. I stayed in the main hotel. The free parking was appealing if you have searched for hotels in downtown Chicago that don't charge for parking. more

We needed to be close to the University of Chicago and Hyde Park and the Ramada Inn Lake Shore offered excellent accommodations at a reasonable rate. The staff is an added plus and they made every effort to take care of our needs. My wife and I would stay here again even if we didn't need to be close to the south side. Lake Shore Drive makes all of Chicago accessible, from Hyde Park to Evanston. It's an older property but with folks like Angie and Earl taking care of us it was just like being with family. more

It is the best deal in town however as it is within a 5-10 minute walk of the Lake and Promontory Point (with an incredible view of downtown), close to downtown-bound Metra and bus lines and the closest hotel to the Univ of Chicago. I'll stay here again but mostly out of necessity. Its proximity to the lake is its saving grace, imo\r more

I'm not sure what people expect, but this hotel is in a great location and I can't say enough about the hotel staff. They were very friendly and accommodating. Yes, the rooms are a little outdated, but ours was clean. This is about the only place in Chicago to get free parking and it's very close to the front lobby and in a gated area. The pool could use some work, but we weren't there to sit by the pool much. The free shuttle gets you to popular locations downtown, which is a plus. I've stayed here before and certainly would again. more
