I would NOT recommend Dr. Rajala 2/14/2012

I can say two good things about my visits to Dr. Rajalas office in Allen. One being, he is a nice guy, and two being one of his nurses (who initially talked to us about the medical history and such) was the only nurse who we gave a flip about us. The other ones were always in such a rush to get out, but they were never in a rush to get in the room, they didn't explain anything thoroughly. This being my first pregnancy you would expect someone to take the time and explain things to you, but no, not here. I always hated the waits at this office. Waiting for 45 minutes to get a room then 10-30 minutes after that. The first time I started to question this doctor was when me and my fianc? had seen his certificates on the walls. (like any other doctors office would put..) Supposably he was in the military before deciding he was going to be an OB-GYN, well on one certificate it says Bruce W Rajala and on another it says Bruce E Rajala. If that's not weird, then I'm not sure what is... Anyways, another visit, I had a bad itching red rash, I was told it was normal.. But of course he didn't do anything for it. My new doctor was concerned about it. Another 'great experience', I had an appointment at 3PM and then I was called at noon that same day to reschedule.. Like most women, I have a job, and a life, I can't just take off and go to the doctor whenever I please.. Last minute was a little much to push me over the edge. I told the (ALWAYS RUDE) receptionist that I would just go to a different doctor that day bc I had went to the hospital a week before for bleeding in my stomach, and that I knew it was important to get checked out by someone in the OBGYN field. Little did I know she took all my other appointments out of the book too, so of course, I called to question about my future appointments and she was everything but understanding and easy to talk to. I then made the decision to find a new doctor. I did finish out my other two appointments that had to be rescheduled after that mishap. One being a wellness checkup to which my babies heart beat stopped and we couldn't find it, for what felt like an hour, but it wasn't. The nurse never told me that it was normal to lose a heartbeat and that they often stop for a few seconds, so here I am balling my eyes out on the bed with no explanation, not even after my tears.? Now to the good part, I have a friend who also sees him, she said that he told her she was allowed to drink ""as much wine as she wanted in any trimester.."" I'm not sure which is worse, him saying that or her believing that. I feel guilty enough because he told me I could still tan and get my hair done. And I believed it. I've read on multiple websites that it's unsafe to tan especial in your first trimester because of elevated heat levels in your body. It may cause deformation. That is THE last thing I want to hear when I am talking about my babies health. Great.? I have switched doctors, my new doctor is Dr. Siri in Carrollton, I highly recommend him. He took time to explain everything to me and my partner. He did all the testing he was supposed to do. (including the down syndrome test that Dr. Rajala never preformed or mentioned..)? I have been calling for 2 weeks to get Dr. Rajala to send over my medical history papers and all the work that was done on me there. Have they done it?! Of course not. All they care about is getting paid, they're in then out. They have no concern for you or your unborn, innocent child. I can not fathom how he has so many happy patients. Most of them being under the age of 22, if that tells you anything. I myself, and under 22, but I would like to be treated with the up most respect I give others, I'd like to be treated in a timely manner and I would like to have a doctor who genuinely cares. There is nothing else I can do to get my medical papers sent over, and that is killing me and my new doctor. I have never stressed so much, and what a terrible time to do so. I am not a happy mama! more

In a league of his own... 10/28/2011

I ADORE Dr.Rajala. I am actually sad that my pregnancy will be ending soon; I wish he could be my doctor in all medical walks of my life. I can't quite put my finger on what aspect of his care puts him above and beyond the rest; just that he's incomparable. With Dr.Rajala, I feel comfortable, cared for, taken seriously (my previous OBY in Wisconsin was the exact opposite). His manner is impeccably warm (in an appropriate sort of way). Throughout my life, I've had multiple instances of 'gut instinct' striking me immediately upon meeting someone--for example, feeling suddenly and overwhelmingly tense, the hair prickling on the back of my neck, and a dominating sense of 'danger'. These instincts have proven to be accurate time and time again. Meeting Dr.Rajala, I had the *exact opposite* of that danger/fear response--my intuition and instincts assuaged me of any worries; I feel safe with Dr.Rajala. That's saying something considering I just came out of a severely abusive situation (broken bones kind of abuse) and next to never have a sense of security. His staff is also wonderful. The nurses are friendly, warm, funny, witty, concerned, and interacted superbly with my two year old daughter when she accompanied me. Dr.Rajala and his practice achieve that rare golden standard of instilling bond and trust in the patient. I've never before had a doctor on his level. more

Loved the Nurse here!! 5/3/2011

This place is pretty good I had a really hard pregnancy and the dr. was ok but they had the best nurse! She was a blonde woman with a great sense of humor. She was the reason we stayed with this dr. she was so helpful unfortunately I can't remember her name, but she was AMAZING. The dr. was ok the other staff members were... alright. The nurse unfortunately quite and works somewhere else. So next baby I'm going to be on the look out for where she ran off to. The point is without her I would probably skip this place. more

Don't go here unless you're LOADED 11/20/2010

Awesome Doctor, if you don't mind spending $500+ each month in dr. visits just to cover a c-section that you won't be having for 7 more months. (That is with full coverage insuranc with the deductible met in FULL) They want your 20% COMPLETELY PAID IN FULL by the time you are 28 weeks THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS UP FRONT like it's no big deal. If someone has that kind of money, then by all means go to him. That random money doesn't even cover anything like routine visists, blood work, lab work, ultrasounds, anesthesia,...NOTHING. So if you have an extra $800 that you don't mind spending each month, go ahead, this doctor is for you. more

bad doctor 8/27/2010

you all might think dr rajala is a great doctor but he is not in 07 I found out I was having a little girl. I had 7 sonograms with her. they did not look at them very close... Dr rajala did not look at them at all... My due date was on nov. 4th but he was going out of town and wanted to induce me on October 15th and he said everything would be fine. so I said ok... So then we had her at Allen presby and she had jaundice really bad but they still sent me home with in 24 hrs of having her I never say rajala after having her... three weeks later on nov. 4th she passed away with a heart mummer & a creased aorta Had no Idea but it could have been fixed if he would have looked at the sonograms?.... I am not the only one this has happened to by him... I will never see him again he is a bad man & if I where you I would not trust him.... more

Best Man in the World! 8/24/2009

Dr. Rajala is the most humble and caring man in the world. He cared for me while I was pregnant with my first and only child and delivered her. He was always there for my questions or concerns and never left me wondering or worried! Always had the answers and the right ones! I have referred many of my friends to this man after pregnancy and birthing complications and he is the one that got them through and now they have beautiful children that he helped bless them with. He IS the OBGYN to go to! I traveled 30 miles to have my child's and my well being in his hands! Pros: Let this man take care of you and your baby! Cons: Only in Allen Tx! more

Amazing doctor 7/24/2009

Even though he sees Medicaid patients and that is why I was sceptical at first he is an amazing doctor if he is not able to see you then his nurse will they are a great team. I tried inducing because my body would not progress and it didn't work he gave me a few options and we decided a c section was best I was so scared and he made it easy and more comforting. I am definitely going to him for my future pregnancies. more

Excellent OBGYN for High Risk Pregnancies 5/11/2009

After having 3 miscarriages, I was referred to Dr Rajala by a co-worker. As soon as I was confirmed pregnant for the 4th time - Dr Rajala went in to action to make sure I didn't lose this baby! I am now 37 weeks along and have my c-section scheduled. He has been very patient and willing to go the extra mile for me. I couldn't ask for a better DR. Pros: Patient when working with a nervous first time mom more

Best Doctor in Texas! 9/21/2008

I had Dr. Rajala when I found out I was pregnant in 2006. He was always so polite, friendly and warm. I have never felt so comfortable with any doctor before. He always let me know what to expect. Being a first time mom I was very nervous...But Dr. Rajala always made me feel better. I had a sucessful pregnancy, and he delivered my daughter 6-1-2007. I had to have a c-section which I was very nervous about...But he always made me feel better. I trusted him 100%. And now I am pregnant with my second child...and can't wait to see him again!! I strongly recommend Dr. Rajala. I know a lot of women have commented on how long his wait times are...and Yes. They can be long. I waited an hour once to see him just for a 5 minute check up. But he is a busy doctor...and he's very good at what he does. I would be more concerned seeing a doctor who never had anyone waiting for him. So that's how I view it...Dr. Rajala and his staff are worth the wait. Pros: Friendly nurses, nice hospital Cons: wait time more

Great Doctor, made me feel extremely comfortable. 5/22/2007

Dr Rajala is a great doctor. He made me feel like the only one on his list that day. I was in for just a routine annual exam. I did have to wait for a little while but that is to be expected with an OB/GYN. Dr. Rajala was informative and conversational. I felt completely comfortable. I was worried about having to find a new doctor because my last doctor was amazing, but he eased my worries. Pros: Located in the hospital more

OFTEN overbooked with a poor bedside manner... 4/10/2007

I found Dr. Rajala to be very knowledgeable and upfront; However, he lacked the personal touch that many pregnant women need to feel comfortable. I often felt that he was all business, with no apparent friendly bedside manner, with the exception of a ready smile. That is for some people, but it was definitely NOT for me. Pros: clean and asthetically pleasing office and hospital Cons: overbooked and non-personal (having a baby is THE most personal thing in the world!) more

Highly Recommended OB/GYN! 5/23/2006

I went in to see Dr. Rajala the first time when I had a miscarriage. He was very compassionate throughout this difficult time. 6 months later, I was pregnant again and I went straight back to him. I've enjoyed the extensive care he and his staff have given me through my pregnancy. I had a smooth delivery and my son, Harrison, is now 23 months old! Thanks Dr. Rajala! Pros: Knowlegeble, Careful, Convenient more
