Very cute English looking pub, HOWEVER.....unless you have been friends with the bartenders since 2nd grade, don't expect any service. I stood directly in front of a bartender ho...

Crying about Quips? Why? 7/9/2011

The people giving this place bad reviews are either complete morons or just pathetic crybabies. Awwww... so you didn't get a bartender's nose up your rear the second you stepped up to the bar to order your Coors light or Blue Moon! SUCK IT UP! There was an individual who reviewed Quips as being an Irish pub and even ended the review with the phrase "very Irish".... hilarious... as this place is an English pub! Call an English person Irish and see how many teeth you're missing afterwards! The best was the guy who described himself as a white, middle-aged, middle class male... and said he felt like he didn't fit in because the clientele was all Millersville girls with too much make-up on which, according to him, the Millersville guys really like. This is hilarious! Due to the location of Quips, I'd say if there were any college coeds in there- they were from F&M. Secondly, Mr. White Middle-Class... you're a white douche bag and no one wants you at Quips anyway! Quips is definitely a plac more

Cozy little corner of Lancaster 1/26/2009

I started going to Quips a few weeks ago and it seems to be getting better each time I visit. The food is phenomenal and the service is great. The general atmosphere always seems warm and inviting. A bit over-crowded some nights but even still my glass is never empty. Whether I sit at the bar or my friends and I grab a table it's a cozy place for us to enjoy evening. I haven't been friends with any of the hired help at all so making a claim that it's the only way to get service in that place is in my opinion- childish-. The food is some of the best in town, you honestly can't beat their chicken wings(trust me I've looked), and the service is undoubtedly some of the best you'll find in Lancaster. Pros: Great Service, Delicious Food, Quality Experience Cons: A bit over crowded if you get there at the wrong time. more

Best pub experience in Lancaster! 1/11/2009

As one who appreciates good food and beverage, I feel the need to state that Quips Pub is, in my opinion, the best combination of food quality, beer selection, price, service, and atmosphere in Lancaster. I discovered Quips about three years ago and have since been there on no fewer than 50 occasions. Pros: Food quality, service, beer selection, atmosphere, price. more

A more updated review 12/11/2008

After reading the outdated reviews of this establishment, I can't help but speak up. While some of the negative experiences related by previous posters from the past may or may not have occurred, I have been going to Quips for years and have not had these experiences. I am by no means a regular, but stop in on occasion when bored with frat bars like the Brickyard among others. Quips is one of those pubs where you can chill out and enjoy the company you came with or the company of new friends you make. My friends and I have never had an issue getting served, on the contrary, the service has been accommodating and unpretentious. The food is underated, as their burgers, wings and traditional British fare are very reasonably priced. Know anywhere else you get a multiple topping burger with fries for $6.95? I think not. In closing, I would highly recommend Quips for their excellent tasting reasonably priced food as well as the service that has gotten a bad rap in the past. Try it out for yourself and you'll see what I mean! Pros: parking, service, value, smoke-free! more

Quips Pub 11/19/2008

While there is nothing particularly special or unique about Quips Pub, it is a very nice place to go for dinner and some drinks. The food is pretty good, though no masterpiece. The atmosphere is fun, but not in a dancing/clubbing sort of way. more

Quips Pub 1/23/2008

Amazing Irish Pub. one of the best pubs in town...a HUGE amount of beers on tap. Great atmosphere...old wood staircase in the middle of a large circle island bar. Excelent...lots of dart boards. It's and older crowd and a bit expensive but fun. Very irish. more

yup, its for locals/friends only 11/17/2007

same experience as some other reviewers. cold, unfriendly, and dirty. place tries to be an english pub, but it just stinks. i am a white, middle age male, middle class, and i am at home at most any bar/pub. i tip well, but didn't tip here, cause the place stinks. they have their regulars, their regular girl clients (Millersville Univ Co-eds, i think, 'cause the really heavy make-up on these girls, which the m-ville co-eds favor). it seems that the place tries to be a private joint for those a few guys to try to get lucky with the m-ville girls. they can have 'em . there are a lot better places to go. more

Here's a quip; Quips is garbage. 11/15/2007

Used to go here regularly for drinks and darts. As someone else noted, unless you're friends with the bartenders, don't expect service. They're too busy talking. The last time I was there, the (bald) bartender openly accused my friends of not tipping them the last time they were in. This was early in the evening when things were quiet. Everyone in the bar was staring at us. My friends say they tipped and I believe them. I think it was a lousy, immature thing for the guy to do and as the old marketing saying goes, good service goes so far and bad service goes around the world. Well here it is. I can't tell you how many times I had to practically hop the bar to get a drink from this guy. Maybe he's in the wrong line of work? He's got tunnel vision. If you want any attention at the bar, bring a strobe light or a siren. Pros: Food is okay Cons: terrible service, pricey, oddly arranged more

Awesome Food .Best Burger anywhere! 6/7/2006

You have to come here for the food, but come early. It gets crowded with bar yuppies by 8pm. Almost everything on the menu is excellent - especially the burgers, which my wife & I agree are the best we have had at any restaurant anywhere (including most of the East Coast States, some Midwest, Hawaii, Alaska, Carribbean and a few others). Ironically, the only items on the menu we didn't care for were British but, then again, British food typically stinks anyway. However, none of those dishes were ""bad"", they just couldn't compare to the rest of their awesome menu. Pros: Food, British Pub Atmosphere Cons: Gets Crowded, Wish the whole place was non-smoking. more

Can anyone see me? 1/2/2006

Very cute English looking pub, HOWEVER.....unless you have been friends with the bartenders since 2nd grade, don't expect any service. I stood directly in front of a bartender holding a 20 dollar bill several times without any acknowledgement from him. I have even gone back to this place thinking I hit it on an off nite........no....it still is awful. PS..better dress nice or the local yuppies will look at you strangely. Pros: atmosphere, drink choice Cons: SERVICE, SERVICE more
