Imperfect church promoting a perfect God! 5/30/2012

Yes, this is an imperfect church filled with imperfect people...but what a ministry. I have seen lives changed because of the teaching and love - especially within my own family! I really cannot find anything to complain about...all the way from the preaching staff, college program, kids program, Ministry Institute - everything has been positive, generous, forgiving and life giving. The Bible is taught well and emphasized and the presence of the Christ and the Holy Spirit is clearly seen in Puyallup 4square! more

Only good experiences for us 12/25/2011

There is only one review listed here from 3 years ago, it is very negative. We have had nothing but very positive experiences with Puyallup 4 Square. First let me stipulate, we are not members of Puyallup 4 Square. We have considered moving to 4 Square, but we have obligations and commitments to our home church. However, when we need a really uplifting support service, we always go to 4 Square. Finding a church home is not only a personal adventure, but God will lead you to what is in His plan. Please bear with me and let me tell you why. I attended the Men?s Fraternity series at 4 Square and it was led by Pastor Archer. Roger is so open about his life, and I quickly learned and understood how God created a plan for his life. I was amazed and enthralled by God?s leading him through many unknowns that took complete faith. Roger was very open about many of the struggles in his life about trusting God; I could understand as I have gone through those too. But I think the whole story of the miracle of reconciliation between he and his estranged Dad spoke volumes to me. If you don?t know the story, ask him. Roger readily admits, he didn?t create the growth of that church, God did. Enough about Roger, bear with me as I talk about the rest of the 4 Square Church. God has used this church in so many ways with miracles of lives changed. God has used this church for hundreds if not thousands of first time and recommitments to follow Our Lord Jesus Christ. I have met most of the associate pastors, and they all have a heart for bringing people into a relationship with God. I am always impressed how all the Pastors are out front of the church greeting and praying with people before and after services. The church is open to ?come as you are, where you are? acceptance. A visitor I brought one week made the comment, ?a hooker off So. Tacoma way could come and be totally accepted?. I really sense God?s spirit when I attend, and walk out refreshed and renewed in my daily walk. Their youth program is second to none. Thousands of kids attend, are accepted no questions asked ? and they love it! Many, many have come to know and love the Lord by way of their youth ministry. In fact, 4 Square purchased the Seventh Day Adventist Church and created a unique youth church that also provides weekday tutoring etc. I understand that the music may be a touch loud for some, but the message from the music has often touched my heart, and I know it will touch yours. I could go on and on, but believe me when I say; Puyallup 4 Square has been a beacon and a force for God throughout the Puyallup Tacoma area. If you go to ?check it out? listen for God?s leading as to where you should worship. There are many good churches in our area, trust that God has a plan for which one you need to attend. more

Unfortunately, it's a business 12/10/2008

I had my child at cascade christian elementary school in Puyallup which rents space from / shares the building with the four square church. While volunteering one day I heard people being loud in the hallway. It concerned me because their conversation was not appropriate for children to overhear... discussion of partying, promiscuity and alchohol use is not something I want my 7 year old exposed to which is why we chose to spend the money to send him to private school. Unfortunately, after complaining the Pastor, Mr Archer came to talk to me. Basically he ignored my concern, refused to ask the work release or community service cretins in the hallway to watch their language, and lectured me at length about how much money he has given (actually it was probably his church members) to the school, etc. As a result I've taken my child out of that school. The school is fine, but the environment is not supported by the church or it's pastor who made clear that his real interest is money, not God, not serving the community, not protecting children. Pros: None - A great school is hampered by its association with this 'Religious Business' Cons: The pastor cares only for money, to the extent he defends people talking loud and vulgar in earshot of innocent children more
