Performing Arts 8/17/2005

Located in downtown Providence, the PPAC has a variety of theatrical performances ranging from musicals such as Aida to many other popular Broadway-typed shows. The center has a huge stage with balcony seating. The theater is very pretty with intricate gold designs and red curtains. Although seating is very hard to find, the ushers are very nice and available to help you get to your seat. Parking is very difficult to find and taxis are always available but it might be hard to flag one down after a show. more

A Fun Night Out! 8/5/2005

Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) is a beautiful old theater, that has been refurbished and is now gorgeous. They have major plays and concerts come to the theater, as well as the occasional special event. There are really no bad seats in the house, and it's right in the heart of downtown Providence. Close enough so you can walk to clubs and restaurants. There is a parking garage across the street. more

  • In Short
On the National Register of Historic Places, Providence Performing Arts Center was originally a 3,200-seat Loews movie house. Prices are higher than when it opened in 1928, but shows are as good as ever. The beautifully restored art-deco theater has become the local stop for touring Broadway productions, including "Rent," "Stomp" and "Riverdance." The Masterpieces series shows classics like "Gone With the Wind" or "The Wizard of Oz" in the original full-sized format.
