Where's the beef? 7/5/2002

I am a New Yorker visiting the Burgh. In NYC when you order a corned beef sandwich ($5-$7) you get a 4 inch sandwich. 2 slices of 1/2"" bread and 3"" of corned beef. At Primanti you get a 5"" sandwich ($5). 2 slices of 1"" bread, 1"" of soggy fries, 1&1/2"" of dry shredded lettuce called cole slaw and 1/2"" of corned beef. If I wanted a salad with fries and a side of bread I would have ordered it. I don't mind a sandwich with fries and lettuce on it but don't play me for a sucker and think i won't notice that this is to camaflouge the lack of corned beef. Never again! Why no service? 5/27/2002

There seems to be an epidemic in Pittsburgh of bad service at area restaurants. It seems like most waitstaff will serve you if they're not talking to their friends or otherwise feel like it. We waited at a table for 10 minutes at Primanti's (Not one person said to order at the bar, and we were passed by multiple waitstaff.) and then walked out. Outside there was another party complaining about the service. The food looked good but you may never get it. more
