""A Taste Of The Northwest"" 7/16/2007

So. \r \r The whole reason I went to Portland Brew in the first place... I liked the name. I am from Oregon, so I was hoping this place would make it feel a little more like home in Nashville. The coffee is delicious and it is such a cute little place. Portland Brew is somewhere I now frequent. It defiantly has a down to earth vibe and the staff is great. Pros: Lovely coffee, people, enviroment Cons: Parking. more

Simple the Best 8/27/2006

Spot on, the best coffee in Nashville. Period. To those who find it hard to park, leave the SUV parked at your over-inflated McMansion and walk or ride a bike to PBrew. Please tip the baristas. Your tips pay not only them, but all who work in the back making the delicious food and cleaning up after your latte spills. Pros: Food and Service Rock! Cons: Xtian props are off-putting more

best coffee!! 6/13/2006

I have been to both locations many, many times and I love going there! I believe the person who left the last comment had an orange currant scone, which is my favorite. I love the taste of their coffee and everyone is so friendly. I have had to wait at the Murphy Rd. location, but never longer than a couple of minutes. This place is a great alternative to Starbucks because they've got character and the best coffee around. And you should have thier sandwiches! Pros: Awesome coffee, great service, friendly staff Cons: hard to park more

big big dissapointment 5/16/2006

Went to the new location on Murphy tonight for the first time. I arrived at 11pm, they close at 12- some places drop off in service and food quality this late at night, but a coffee shop should not. I got a ""chocolate chip scone"" and a cup of guatamaula- when i went to pour the half and half, it was empty. I went back to the counter for help, the guy was missing, waited for about 5 minutes, still nothing, in th meantime another man waited with me. 10 minutes later no half and half, the scone turned out to be raisin and awful, and the coffee was just terrible, serioulsy, i tried mcdonald's new coffee yesterday, and it was better. I will never return. Pros: electricity Cons: coffee, service, service more

If you want a drink made by a real barista... 10/17/2005

I went there this weekend and had one of the best espresso drinks I've ever had. It was one of the few coffee shops I've been to that had a real barista behind the counter. The drink was not only great-tasting but beautiful, too, with the finest microfoam on top and he made it a little ""wet"" just like I asked for. This is definitely a great destination for an espresso drink fanatic. Pros: Quality Espresso, Tea Selection, Casual Atmosphere Cons: Insufficient Parking more

Another welcome addition to MetroWest 1/18/2004

Great little coffee shop in an up-and-coming area of town. Awesome setup - large front room with big comfy chairs [and good people-watching] and smaller study rooms for those who need to get work done. The blueberry coffee alone has me sold on this place. more

I want it all to myself 4/23/2003

Please don't go to Portland Brew, I want to keep it all to myself! Big comfy couches, the best coffee in town served up by perma-friendly people, private ""rooms"" to share with friends or your book, computers, and free wireless internet access. Who could ask for more in a coffee shop? I mean, really? PS- If you're one of those lound, obnoxious people who ruin my PB experience, stay away. Pros: coffee coffee coffee, coffee coffee coffee, coffee coffee coffee Cons: fellow customers more

Great Java @ 12 South 1/22/2003

Every coffee nut should treat themselves to the great atmosphere and hospitality of Portland Brew on 12th Avenue South. Not to mention the awesome variety and quality of their fabulous brews. Try the ""Kenya!"" Pros: Great selection/price, Great Atmosphere, wonderful service more

Come back, Brews, come back. 12/15/2002

Portland Brews is good, but when it was in Sylvan Park it was outstanding. It's move was unavoidable, but what seems unfortunate is that they have not been able to bring back their terrific breakfast fare. Coffee is still excellent. Atmosphere is somewhat improved (except for the ugly exterior), but where's the marvelous food they used to feed us? I used to wake up and look forward to driving out to Sylvan Park to eat; I wish I could dream the same about 12 South. Pros: Coffee, Service, Hip part o'town Cons: Food is spartan!, No windows., Prep area cramped. more

for those who know coffee 8/5/2002

This is absolutely the best coffee place in Nashville. Brandon, the owner, knows his beans and the staff has been around long enough to be educated in their craft and knowledgeable about customer care. The coffee drinks are consistently great. No chalky mochas here. The atmosphere is arts friendly - lots of musicians hanging about while not on tour. And to top it off, they have internet access. (4 computers), so you can check your e-mail anytime. Pros: excellent brew, friendly employees, location Cons: only one location, needs porch more

The BEST!!! (now at 12th Ave. S) 6/8/2002

Portland Brew is beyond wonderful. It is simply the best coffee I've had anywhere, and I've been all over the world. Owner Brandon and top bean dude Rob roast their own beans there every day or two. An unmatched deep, rich, oily roast. Their espresso drinks are made with artistry and are beyond delicious. They also sell the beans they roast there...we get a constant supply because the withdrawal pangs are intolerable! And, oh yeah, the folks there are GREAT! They recently moved to 12th Avenue across from Sevier Park and Becker's Bakery. Pros: everything!, coffee, people Cons: are you kidding?!? more
