When I went to Ongele for the first time a few years ago, I was a ""virgin"" at having my hair colored! Needless to say, I was a little nervous and wasn't sure what to expect. Her excitement to do my hair was contagious and I immediately knew I was in great hands. Katie has done my color too and she's just as awesome. I'm very busy so time is important to me and I've never had to wait. The offer of water, soda, or wine makes for a fun atmosphere too. I feel like I'm amongst friends when I'm there. I have been a client of Ongele's for nearly 10 years. I have followed her from salon to salon and would even travel back to Houston from Waco during college for appointments with her. She is an artist, a true artist who, as Ongele affectionately puts it, ""was born to cut hair."" What I hate most about moving away from home is the process of finding a new hair stylist. Doctors and dentists... no problem, a quick referral from friends or family solves that. But finding someone who can really -- and I mean really -- cut hair... who can find??? After living out of state for three years, trying dozens of new salons, and spending a small fortune in ""research"" (both in money and the demise of my hair), I have yet to find another human being who holds a candle to Ongele! She knows how to cut YOUR hair for YOU. If you want a look that's not good for you, she will tell you and explain why, but she WILL achieve what you want in a manner that's appropriate for your hair type, face shape, and personality. My favorite thing about my appointments with Ongele is CHANGE. She's not one of those people who only knows how to cut the same ""do"" over and over again. If you want to change things up a bit, she's your woman. I trust her implicitly, so when I go in to see her, I like to tell her what I want and then say, ""I trust you. Do your thing!"" This place is a gem. Ongele and Katy provide great service, fun conversation, genuine friendship, and of course, fantastic stylist work! I love the comfortable and small salon. From the moment I enter the gate and past the beautiful pool area to when I walk in the door and am greeted by holers from upstairs I'm excited. I love the setting of this salon with it's deck over looking the beautiful outdoor pool area, to the perfect natural light that pours in the french doors everything is just right and so welcoming and I haven't even sat in the chair yet. Thats when the good stuff begins. I love the scalp and shoulder massage and always right on consultation and advise I get from Ongele. She's never steered me wrong. Her understanding of color and ease to work with make her a stand out in Houston. I've been going to Ongele for years and I always get asked ""who does your hair"" , so I've probably recommended at least 20 people to her and they all continue to go back time and again and end up recommending others as well. I'm always so happy with my hair (and my time there) that I book my appointments month's in advance just so I get a spot! Luckily I found a salon that is MUCH better than ""decent"". I happened to comment on a neighbors new cut and color and she recommended Ongele and Katy.
