Peter Doran Lawn Care, Landscaping and Snow Removal

DO NOT HIRE this company for snow removal. I have been trapped five times this winter alone (2013-2014). They say they have 12 hours after snowfall stops to plow your driveway. This means you will be stuck at home with no way to get to work if a large amount of snow stops falling at any point in the night and won't be able to get into your driveway if it stops during the day. If you call after hours to complain or check on arrival time, no one will call you back. more

I wanted to like them. I've read so many fantastic things about their service. Unfortunately, things just didn't work out. I signed up for weekly mowings and they came ONCE EVERY 3 WEEKS. The first time it happened I waited a week to call because I didn't want to seem too pushy or thought they were busy and they would come soon. I finally called a week later (2 weeks into not getting a cut) and they said they already came to mow my lawn. Anyone with common sense could see my lawn had not been cut in a couple of weeks (or more!) from the way it looked so that was not correct. Then they checked and found out it was a DIFFERENT address that was mowed and not mine. I forgave that one. The next week my lawn didn't get cut again! I called and let them know the week after (2 weeks passing again) and they said someone would be right out. Apparantely they have me on a ""schedule"" for only towards the end of the week and I guess when it rains on my days, I get pushed onto the end of next week again. It was very stressful dealing with them. At this rate, I'd rather pay a neighborhood kid to mow my lawn. At least (s)he would be interested in having my business/money. I've never been more disappointed in any kind of business or service. :( more

My lawn is mowed on the same day each week at about the same time of day - no guessing if the mower will show up or not. Mowing includes edge trimming and cleanup of grass clippings. Peter Doran does a great job every time. more

My wife and I have had them do our lawn and driveway in the winter for the past 2 years. They are professional but very friendly. They always have accommodated our needs such as neatly moving the hose that we always seem to leave out on the grass. They even moved our picnic table to get under the grass! Last winter there were several major blizzards. They came multiple times during a 36 hour period while the heavy snow was falling. I can't recommend them enough! Pros: Met all of our personal needs. I had a lot of bushes/shrubs in my yard that needed to be trimmed. I called the office of Peter Doran Lawn & Landscaping to set something up. I requested that they call me before coming out so I could be there to give directions on what I wanted done. The office called me the day before. When the guy arrived to do the work he was very knowledgable. He took the time to educate me on what he was going to do and also gave recommendations. I am so happy with the quality of work. To control costs, we insisted that landscapers gave us fixed bids with reasonable timelines based upon our detailed landscaping designs/plan. Although the bid from Peter Doran was much higher than the others, we selected Peter Doran because they assured us that they would absolutely not go over the budget or the timeline that was promised. Unfortunately, they went thousands over budget (without accountability or change orders) and months over the timeline, also without justification. To make things worse, the quality of their work was low quality. Seemingly good people but a terrible experience. more

Still waiting for these folks to show up to do a spring cleaning at our association. While other townhome and condominium sites have beautifully manicured lawns, ours is a complete disaster. Rocks on the lawn from where the snow removal service scraped them from the rock gardens, dandelions everywhere, leaves everywhere from last years late shedding trees. Our tennants are very upset. Snow removal service in Minneapolis. Adequate at removing snow, but not necessarily immediate service after snow storm. Had to wait 3 days to get out of driveway. more
