Sorry, but if you love this restaurant, you don't love Chinese food. Maybe you like it at best.

Best food in chinatown 7/18/2007

I've been here once and really enjoyed the food, it was really good, but too expensive for me, chinese food shouldn't cost this much, and the service wasn't all that great, but I would recommend checking it out at least once. more

Peking Duck 4/29/2007

Peking Duck at Peking Duck House is really delicious. The decor and ambience is chic and sophisticated. The waiters can be a little bit snobby if you speak in Chinese. They would pretend they only know English. But other than that, the food is really good and the atmosphere is a nice escape from regular C-town fare. more

very RUDE. 10/4/2006

I know that china town isn't the place to receive the greatest service in nyc, but I've really had it when I went to peking duck house last weekend. The food was excellent, the place was very clean and the foods came out pretty quickly. Things seem wonderful until when it was almost time for them to close and we still had a lot of food left on the table. We got there around 10 pm, no one told us when they were closing. We ordered the house special deal which was a bit expensive for china town standard. It includes 3 appetizers, duck, 3 main entree, and deserts. and of couse, we would take more than 30 min to finish all that food. If they were going to rush us to finish the meal, they shouldn't have let us come in so late or at least tell us thier closing time. Not only they started to clean up while we were eating, brushing all the dusts on to our food, they came with deserts and the check even before we had half of our main dishes, and standing aroud us with their belongings ready to jump on us if we stay a min longer. We finally couldn't take it so we had to wrap everything to go. we were afraid that they were going to spit on our take home food so we just told them to bring the boxes out so we put the left over in the boxese ourselves. It was the most horrifying, rude service i've ever had in China town. Although the food was pretty decent, I don't think i would go back there. more

The Best Peking Duck 8/31/2005

This place serves the best peking duck in all of Chinatown. The prices are a bit high, but generally worth the experience. Reservations are a good idea on most weekends. The space is a bit tight in the back of the restaurant. Try to get a table upstairs rather than in the basement. more

Midtown and Chinatown locations serve classic Chinese and specialty Peking duck in modern, dimly lit atmosphere crowded by loyal locals.

Owner Message
  • At Peking Duck We prepare well in advance. Firstly air is pumped into the duck to stretch and loosen the skin, then boiling water is repeatedly spread over the bird, which is then carefully dried, the dried skin is rubbed all over with maltose, and the duck is then roasted in a hot oven for a period of time until the meat is tender and the skin crispy. Then the duck is served with house-made pancakes, green scallions, fresh cucumbers and special hoisin sauce.
