Pearl River Mart

This is a great shop to spend some time in. They have an array of products - chinese silk pajamas and bags, little gift items made of beautful fabrics, those pincusions that used to be so popular back in the 80s with the little chinese people holding hands around them. (Or, was it just me that loved them?) They also have a huge selection of teas, tea pots, cups, chopsticks, and other kitchen-ware. And, in the back, you'll find lamps that range from the truly bizarre/funny, to ones you might actually take home with a bamboo silk screen for your apartment. Also - if you like to make your own crafts, there is an excellent bin of fabric remnants - all Chinese silk - you can get a yard of some of their beautiful fabrics for a fraction of the cost. more

Originally located on canal street, the owners of Pearl River Mart decided to open a larger, more modern version of their store. What they decided was to put an emphasis on the more commercialized aspects of the asian culture. Inside you'll find tons of decorative china, wood furniture, traditional chinese garments and so forth. There are also a lot of small nifty things you can buy such as sanrio stationary. Definately a place to stop by if you ever decide to walk broadway. more
