Best Hopital Experience Ever!!!! 12/30/2011

Last night I went to Scottsdale- Osborn with severe pain and swelling in my eye and cheek bone. I was triaged right away put in a quiet, dark room and put on an i.v. with 30 minutes to relieve the pain and giving antibiotics. I have never been treated so well and with such compassion. I would recommend this hospital to anyone. I was also there in 2004 for TMJ surgery and again was treated with compassion. Drs., nurse, staff, etc. were extrememly kind and very concerned about my well being. The room and facilities were cleaned and kept that way daily. The were constantly concerned about my pain level and kept me comfortable. more

Terrible Experience! 12/4/2011

E.R. doc was great, the nurses not so much. The room facilities (wash basin separate from bathroom) wouldn't pass a fast-food public-health inspection. Took entirely too long to get me discharged - had to get approval from SIX doctors, all with other things to do. Room was cold and very noisy. Twice made me throw up via the same anti-pain medication - you'd think they would learn. more

Rude and disrespectful 11/22/2011

I have had better service at McDonald's. This place is an absolute SHITHOLE. They had no respect for me the pain i was in or the condition i was left. I mean i literally heard the nurses and Drs collaborating on ways to let me sit there and suffer like i was in jail wtf if i wasn't in so much pain i would probably ended up in jail. This place is horrible horrible horrible i would've been better off having the Texas chainsaw massacre family take care of me honestly. NEVER GO HERE VERY BAD. I WOULD HAVE RATHER DIED!!!!!!!!!! more

If you don't want to die, don't go to this place! 10/12/2011

Recently a close friend of mine was taken to this hospital after a motorcycle trauma. From the first minute he arrived, it was obvious that they only cared about one thing--How much were they going to get paid for his care. They repeatedly badgered his friends and family about his insurances (he has 2). When the family became unhappy with the poor care he was receiving and complained...all of a sudden he took a turn for the worst and had to go back to surgery. Long story short, after surgery the physicians and providers there recommended hospice. They continued to badger the family to try to get them to give up on their loved one. The family didn't. He survived. It's not Scottsdale Healthcare. It's Scottsdale Nocare. They don't care about the health of their patients or the emotional well being of their families. The staff their hate their jobs. The rooms are filthy. Patients are over medicated and neglected. This is the worst hospital on the planet. more

Who Realy Runs Scottsdale Healthcare 7/31/2010

Let go from the Shea campus in 2007, June. OK so what. After over 20 years of being a loyal and dependable employee. I had been in the medical field for 40 years and always treated fellow employies with equal respect. I was never afraid to give a hand shake, a high five, a pat on the back and a good hug. It was always total respect for that person and only to those I knew. My department was under and out side management company, {service masters}. They were over several departments. They always tried to be tough and hateful, and they did not like me from the begining. They are the ones that really run the hospital system. Under buget, bonuses and cheap products. They will do anything to get rid of an employee they do not like. After all my contribution to the hospital and my popularity they found a kink in my armor. I was charge with hugging, patting people on the back and giving someone a 15 second neck rub. Take in mind I worked in the Labor and Delivery Department and the Neonate Intensive Care and did so proudly. I was terminated with in a 10 minute meeting with HR. No chance because SM was incharge and pulling the strings. I left the hospital mortified that I may hurt someones feels and even a chance to make right. 20 years, well I should have earned the chance. In a hospital that huging another employee is a constant, I just did not understand. I do now. 3 years later I still can not find work. This is indeed the short version. Sorry for being windy. Pros: It was my second home, I thought I had friends Cons: some rules enforced unfairly and for revenge more

The Worst Place on Earth 5/28/2010

I went to the Emercency room on the advice of my Dr. My face was drooping on oneside, slured speach, trouble walking with the right side of my body tagginh along, chest pain, nausea and a head ache.\r After getting seen by the nurse, who laughed with her pal about the empty beds( we're gonna get a rush!) they spoke as if I was not in the room, about my symptons then sent me back to the waiting room. She never asked me about my medical history or any detailed information about what was going on.\r After 2 hours i went back to the window to find out what was going on, I came in for an MRI at the request of my DR., It's an emergency, I was told better sooner than later. The receptionist was slumped in her chair and spoke without concern and lazy speech... Finally I got a room, they took blood, and a CAT scan but no MRI. I was released with a perscription to see a Dr. for an MRI. I asked them to call my Dr. and get me admitted because I still had wekness on one side of my body (and still do), trouble swallowing, slurred speak and vomiting. Dr. Schmidt did not feel that I needed to be admited and sent my home feeling and looking the same way I did when I came in. The funny thing is they give you these Discharge Instructions that assume your leaving feeling better, and if your symptoms re-appear than you should return to the Emergency Room! So I got a bill for $3,000.00 dollars and didn't get the treatment, time, understanding that I deserved. I didn't even get to ask Dr. Schmidt the questions I had, she just dismissed me and said it was to late tonight to get an MRI, but I do need one so here is your perscription. It's Just Maddening!! You feel helpless and they sure aren't listening . They could have done an EEG or kept me for observation, but instead they helped me get dressed and out the door. I guess I'm lucky because the girl next to me got a shot full of morophine for pain and she was allergic to it, even had a band on her arm to alert the Dr.\r Never Go Here OF YOUR OWN FREE WILL!!!!!\r THIS IS A SORRY EXCUSE OF AN EMERGENCY ROOM - AND JUST ONE OF THE MANY HORROR STORIES ABOUT THIS PLACE.\r SHAME ON YOU FOR TREATING PEOPLE THIS WAY \r Pros: I only had to wait 3 hours for a CAT scan Cons: I Guess a possible stroke in not an Emergency here! more

The Truth and Only the Truth 5/26/2010

TO: Getaclue2day you no doubt are with the PR Dept. for Scottsdale Healthcare. I find it amazing how you can even begin to defend this Hospital System. Here are the plain and simple facts that cannot be refuted and are public record. 1. This Hospital system attempted to cover up a $exual A$$ault which resulted in the arrest and conviction of several employees, one was the Vice President. This can all be verified through public court records. 2. The EEOC has made settlements to many minority employees over the years for discrimination (again all public record) 3. The shooting that occurred was only because hospital security guards taunted an unstable man who was a former police officer with no insurance. The man was found incompetent to stand trial and was ordered to mental health care facility. Tell me why the judge made made this decision? Probably because the guards taunted an unstable man who was seeking help but was thrown out of the hospital! Now you call them ""heroes?"" Sounds like a bad case of misdiagnosis to me. 4.If the judge found the man who did the shooting to be mentally incompetent, why did the hospital staff not find the man a mental health risk? After all they treated and released him into the hands of the vicious security guards. 5. I personally know of a Security Guard who was a model employee, never missed a day of work in 2 years and even had a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. When his co-workers in the Security Dept found out he was gay it was on! They harassed the guy to death and he quit his job. Why the guy did not sue the hospital is beyond me, maybe he felt like it wasn't worth his time. I understand he is now a security consultant in Texas. 6. The EEOC fined SHC and paid a 10K settlement to a black Security Guard who was forced out of his job simply because the rednecks running the Security Dept. did ""not want any N's working in their Dept. 7. A female Guard was taunted and filed suit with the EEOC as she was harassed just because she was a woman. The K-9 officer yes the female K-9 officer was better trained than any of the ""boys"" But when the racist old boys club are ruling your done! 8. Two nurses who were $exually harassed by their supervisors filed EEOC claims against the hospital, all were settled. I could go on and on with examples, but I will spare you. So go right ahead, sit in your cubical and pull that wool sweater down over you eyes and pretend nothing ever happened. MANY of us know the real truth about this place! Pros: Good PR Dept Cons: Bad place! more

Scottsdale Healthcare bad place to work 10/12/2009

Scottsdale Healthcare Most Racist Hospital in the Valley. CEO TOM SADVARY\r \r Now here is an unfriendly and racist place to work. If you are a minority, gay or if they even think you may be kiss your career goodbye at Scottsdale Healthcare. They hire token minorities to full fill their mandates, then they turn on them like the vicious racist bottom feeders that they are. Potential minority employees better keep the ACLU and the EEOC on speed dial, your truly going to need it. I worked for the morons and am shocked that these people can pay out claim after claim for discrimination with the EEOC and still remain in business today. Mr. Tom Sadvary who is the CEO of Scottsdale Healthcare refused to meet with me concerning the discrimination I suffered at the hand of others despite is alleged ""OPEN DOOR POLICY"".In 20 years of being a working man this is the most unbearable place I have ever worked and my happiest day there was when I left the rednecks in the rearview mirror. These people are truly bottom feeders and I sincerely hope they end up getting a class action lawsuit filed against them again. Cons: Racist more

Excellent hospital/place to work 10/8/2009

I have worked at several valley hospitals besides this one and it is by far the best place to work. Unlike other hospitals, the doctors that have privileges at Osborn are extremely more knowledgeable and advanced than the doctors I have worked with at other hospitals. I was shocked to see the bad reviews for Osborn, as it is easily the best hospital in the East Valley. Please do not be swayed by the other bad reviews that have been given. I would ONLY trust the doctors and other employees with not only my life but also the lives and care of my family and loved ones with no doubt that we would be receiving the best care. The surgeons who operate at Osborn are amazing. The radiologists are not only extremely knowledgeable but also very skilled. Some of the doctors I’ve seen at other facilities have frightened me by their lack of skill and knowledge. \r \r When it comes down to it, the media cannot be trusted to give accurate details. It is extremely unfortunate that things have taken place at Osborn recently that the media have reported on. However, how would an average Joe have the accurate details about what happened in each instance? I do know that one of the previous reviewers was reporting false information. Please do not let their inaccurate facts sway your decision into go to another facility and receive lesser care. The security guards who saved lives the day a disgruntled and mentally ill man came in with a shotgun should be seen as heroes, not bullies. I also have never seen or heard of racial discrimination and I have worked in several departments over the years. I actually have seen first hand other instances at other facilities I have worked at. The employees I’ve seen and talked to at Osborn are actually happier and friendlier than other places I’ve worked at. \r Pros: VERY knowledgeable and skilled staff Cons: Don't listen the bad reviews of non-patients/non-employees more

Fantastic place to work with excellent benefits 7/20/2009

I have worked for SHC for eight years and have had nothing but a great learning environment. My employees while not all have been friends they were all knowledgable regarding their jobs and how to complete them. The benefits are fantastic they are currently paying for my classes and have excellent medical, dental, and vision. I have worked in main admitting as well as another department. I have never witnessed anything the other reviewers have vlaid claim too. I want to thank the security staff that took control of an armed man and the admitting staff that had the sense to get him the heck out of the patient area. Kudos!!! Perhaps the bad reviews written by the others caused their own issues. I fully believe this to be the best job decision I ever made and I hope to work here another twenty years. It has been my experience in a lead position that people generally create their own issues by not correctly doing their job or sick calls or consistently presenting with excuses as to why they couldn't do what they were supposed too. I imagine that there are instances when people just don't get along. Human nature can not be changed we are who we are. I will pray that those who find such issues, will find a happier place in the work force for themselves. I wouldn't be suprised though if they don't show up on here again complaining about another employer who is iracist or homophobic. Pros: Friendly staff, competent management staff Cons: To far from where I live more

3 Hospital workers found guilty 5/18/2009

The Arizona State Board of Nursing will discuss whether to seek disciplinary action against two Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn workers found guilty of failing to report an alleged sexual assault on a patient in a timely manner.\r \r 3 hospital workers sentenced in late reporting\r \r Susan Livengood, associate executive vice president of Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn, and Shelly VanVianen, a registered nurse, each were sentenced on the misdemeanor offense in Scottsdale City Court on Wednesday to three years’ probation and fines of $1,836 and $1,408, respectively. They were also required to perform community service, and Livengood was also sentenced to one day in jail.\r \r State law requires health care workers to immediately report alleged sexual assaults of hospital patients to the state Adult Protective Services and then submit a written report within 48 hours.\r \r A 23-year-old female heart patient conveyed to her speech therapist on Dec. 12 that she was sexually assaulted on Nov. 17 by a man she suspected was a hospital worker.\r \r The hospital launched an internal investigation and did not inform police about the allegation until Jan. 14.\r \r The woman was shown about 70 pictures of hospital workers, but did not identify any of them as her assailant. The Arizona State Board of Nursing’s board of directors will discuss Livengood’s and VanVianen’s infractions during its meeting Nov. 19-20, according to Joey Ridenour, executive director of the state board.\r \r Disciplinary actions against Livengood and VanVianen could include censure, probation or revocation of their nursing licenses, Ridenour said.\r \r Dr. Patricia Crellin, a consulting psychiatrist for the hospital, was also sentenced to three years’ probation, fined $948, and will have to perform 100 hours of community service for failing to report the alleged sexual assault in a timely manner.\r \r The Arizona Medical Board, which reviews infractions against psychiatrists, investigates the findings of anyone convicted of a crime, whether it is a felony or misdemeanor, to determine whether it will take any action against them — a four- to six-month process, according to Roger Downey, spokesman for the state medical board.\r \r The Arizona Medical Board’s next meeting will be Dec. 3-4, Downey said.\r \r The Scottsdale Healthcare workers have declined to comment in the case. An attorney for the hospital said last week they are planning an appeal\r Pros: If you make it out alive you are lucky Cons: Tom Sadvary CEO Scottsdale Healthcare more

Judge Wendy Morton said the prosecutor proved that hospital vice president Susan Livengood, Patricia Crellin, a psychiatrist, and Shelley M. Van Vianen, a nurse practitioner, were guilty of a misdemeanor for failing to report in a timely manner an alleged sexual abuse of a 23-year-old stroke patient. \r \r The three women, still employed by the hospital, face fines of up to $2,500 and up to six months in jail. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled within 30 days, Morton said. \r \r Charges against a fourth employee, a rehabilitation coordinator, were dropped last week. \r \r Prosecutor Caron Close said in her closing argument that the hospital workers failed the patient and violated a state reporting statute.\r \r The three women sat motionless as Morton read her verdict. They were unavailable for comment.\r \r Scottsdale Healthcare spokesman\r Cons: Not a safe hospital more

BEWARE OF THIS HOSPITAL 1/18/2009

I would like to take the time to share with you my views on this health care system. If you are thinking about becoming an employee WARNING TO YOU. Scottsdale Healthcare is not a place you would even want to consider ! Just check with the EEOC and see the list of complaints and settlements made on behalf of former employees. From racism, hostile work environments and unfavorable working conditions this place is off the hook. Being a patent here may not be a very good idea either log into fox phoenix news and type in Scottsdale Healthcare HospitalRape. A woman wasraped in the hospital at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn, therape wasn't reported to police for almost a month while hospital officials attempted a mass cover up. Outcome was that employees were charged criminally and convictions were handed down by the court. Hospital Security taunted an unstable man who returned and fired rounds in the hospital with a shotgun injuring one person. This facility in my opinion is not only unsafe and a hostile place to work it is loaded with corruption. you can go to my3centsdotcom and read horror stories about shady billing practices and CitySearch and read about mass discrimination of minority employees. So if your thinking about becoming a patient or an employee I would think twice about Scottsdale Healthcare as in my opinion it is truly a rip off and not a good place to be. Trust me I know first hand I use to work there. Cons: Place is a train wreck ! more
