Ordway Drug Store

I was first a customer of Ordway as a kid in the 80's, buying bubble gum and candy bars. Then as a teenager stopping in for makeup. As an adut I visit Ordway regularly anytime I am home visiting the peninsula. From having prescriptions temporarily transferred, prescriptions filed for my kids untimely illnesses, to first aid, pedi-ped shoes, novelty items, touristy clothing and yes still bubble gum and candy bars! I find everyone at Ordway behind helpful and professional and always happy to help with insurance or questions or recommendations. They were especially kind when a family member was dying. more

This pharmacy staff told to my doctor's office that they would stock a few dosages of a hard to fill prescription. When I tried to pick it up, however, they told me they needed 24 hours to fill it. After confirming with my doctor's office I still needed the medication, my doctor's office called the pharmacy to confirm that the medication should be ordered. I called the next morning and confirmed that the prescription was in. When i tried to pick it up, I was told it hadn't been ordered becuase the staff was ""unsure if I still wanted it"" and couldn't remeber my doctor calling the night before to insist I did want it ordered. The supervisor actually told me that she ""couldn't just believe me and the doctor's office"" but would instead support her staff's version of events. Due to their incompetence, my medication was interrupted and the desired effect was lost becuase of the delay, costing me personally $660 and 2 weeks of wasted medication. Then, to add insult to injury, after I finished speaking with the supervisor, the pharmacy called my doctor and told them I would have to provide a credit card guarantee before they would order prescriptions for me in the future, even though I have a perfect payment history with them. I bought, in addition to many other items, a new walking cane tip for better support (grip) for my aging mother at the Ordway Pharmacy past July. Unfortunately, the cane diameter was too large and did not fit the tip. I took this cane tip from Monterey all the way to Europe where my mother lives and back to Monterey to return it. I miss-placed the receipt and finally found it past weekend. When I tried to return it today the lady (Chrissie / Christie??) started arguing with me that the purchase is more than 30-days past; I said that I did not come here to argue and that I spent thousands of dollars at this store for purchases for my mom (wheel chairs, two different walkers, seating pads, walker accessories etc etc.) It did not make any difference to the lady behind the counter. The cane tip was about 22 dollars and still in its original, sealed package. I walked out with this cane tip (which I will donate to a convalescent home) and a bad taste in my mouth on how local people get treated by this local business. I take my money somewhere else now.
