Great Lebanes Food, BUT NO Reservations Accepted and always a 1 hour wait on the sidewalk. 9/12/2006

THIS WAS MY ORIGINAL REVIEW BACK IN 2006: Pros: Authentic. Good lebanese food. Fun atmosphere. The owner finally got his act together. Cons: 45 minute to 1 hour waits on the sidewalk. They don't even allow phone reservations!!! more

Best Tabouleh in Town 6/20/2006

This is absolutely my favorite plae to eat on 2nd street in Long Beach. The food is wonderful, atmosphere is great and the manager is eye candy! more

Delicious Lebanese Food 5/10/2006

Great restaurant, wonderful decor, friendly knowleagble server and the best Lebanese food I have recently eaten. I ordered the chicken tawook which was really delicious, the garlic sauce is outstanding and the baba ganoush is without doubt the best I have ever tasted! I will be back again and again. Pros: Inexpensive, Beautiful decoration more

Sorriest shawarma I've ever had 3/27/2006

I went here on my birthday because of the great reviews and was sorely disappointed. We had reservations but were seated right next to the door on a cold day. The hostess kept holding the door open making us freeze. The Beef and Chicken Shawarma were overcooked, dry, and flavorless. The beef kabobs were a little better, but still disappointing. The only good food was the rice. Service was ok. Cons: bad food more

quality has declined 11/27/2005

I used to be a big fan of Open Sesame, but haven't been lately because the service and food has steadily declined. The food just hasn't been as a good, and lately the service has been terrible. The last time a friend and I went for lunch we were the only diners on the patio; the server rarely came around, and when we wanted service I had to go inside the restaurant to track someone down to help us. As it got a little busier, we were specifically told that we couldn't bring our (quiet!) dog anymore because it was turning customers away (even though the restaurant was still only half full). 2nd St is very dog friendly, but not Open Sesame, even outdoors on the patio. more

never disappointed 10/21/2005

i've never been disappointed here, not with food, not with the service... nothing. tasty delicious and fairly healthy. i do, however agree with a previous poster the shawarma has declined, but is still tasty. more

Great food, great setting 4/15/2005

The management has been improving the food quality recently. I must say that their shawarma is fantastic, and has become sort of a standard for other restaurants to emulate. Very highly recommended. Great lebanese food. Pros: good food, decent prices, good ambiance Cons: long wait for seating, no phone reservations more

yum yummy yum yummy yum yum 6/11/2004

I have had Lebanese food before, and I always thought it was good. But now I know the BEST. I am glad I was introduced to this place. I will definetely go back in a beat. Pros: 2nd street strip, everything, everything more

Very Exotic! 3/25/2004

This food is very exotic and full of rich flavor. I have been there a few times and always leave very satisfied and full. I usually get the chicken skewers over a bed of rice and a side of the potatoes, also to drink I'll get a Jalab. Its delicious. The only set back is that this restaurant is as big as my kitchen and you have to walk through the cooks area to get to the restroom. If your looking to break from your typical mundane bland food try this place, it'll send your tastebuds into a whirl! Pros: Moderatly Priced, Exotic Food, Decor Cons: , Seating, Parking more

Holy Hummus! 1/17/2003

The food is here is incredible, though the quality is inconsistent during lunch. Dinners have always been excellent, in terms of food quality. The open sesame combo plate is a bargain for the heap of food given. The side of potatoes is to die for, as is the labne (yogurt dip). Also, they serve THE best hummus in America, with a drizzle of fragrant olive oil (which, I believe is the traditional way)! The only drawback is the crowded seating and the slow service. There have been several occasions when we've just not gotten some side dishes we've ordered. However, this place is a gem, and I won't stop going back. Pros: Great, tasty food, Cute place Cons: Slow service, Long waits for dinner more

Mmm... good! 11/13/2002

Went there last night with a friend. She had heard from a co-worker about this place. The food was great! It's *very* reasonably priced, esp for the quality of the food. I had the Kafta plate and it was perfect. We're going back. :D Pros: Great Food, Small and Intimate more

Lebanese Food! Yum! 6/13/2002

I've been to Open Sesame only once, but I'm still reeling from the experience!! The food is simply unforgettable! I had the beef kabobs with a side of cucumber yogurt. The presentation of the food was an added bonus, it looked just as great as it tasted! My best friend had the chicken shawarma and she STILL raves about it being the best anywhere! Her sister had the baklava for dessert! What a tastly, flaky treat! The staff are friendly and the decor was ethic and colorful. GO TO OPEN SESAME!!! Pros: trendy place 2 B seen, great atmosphere, not too expensive Cons: can get crowded more
