Nice man, great with Barni the pom last week, going back this weekend for stitches removed. Brian those other reviews kind of old - his fees were not unreasonable for what he did. Karen and JimB/polk city more

I’m sorry to read the negative comments b/c I’ve found Dr. Saylor and his staff to be personable and very caring. Dr. Saylor responds well to those who responsibly take care of and respect their pets and I only have good things to say. more

Idiiots looking for drama 5/23/2011

I took my girl in with an ear infection. We got her yes from a puppy mill situation and she had not been treated well there. Her spirit was broke and she yet she is docile and sweet as can be. \r \r When we came in the girl at the front was very sweet but after being there for a few minutes my girl noticed people (as what dog doesn’t?) walking around. She loves a good belly rub and when she sees someone and they don’t stop to give her one she barks. So to barking she went…the lady behind the counter immediately started saying something about her being aggressive and got “nervous”. I told her “Are you kidding. She’s barking. That is it. She is not going to do anything. “ Immediately my girl started hiding behind me. She starts insisting she is aggressive for barking….all because she is a German shepherd. With no German shepherd instincts. I mean seriously she allows children to pull on her ears and run all over her. She tries to take raccoons that are ready to rip her apart toys. This is a totally docile dog. \r \r They took her in the back with me. SHE LICKED the second girls hand and that girl said I think I’d best put a muzzle on her! AND THEY DID for licking her?. Now my girl is shaking so bad it is more than noticeable. She has her tailed tucked and looks terrified. I tried to comfort her by holding her head and talking softly to her. She tired to lick me (her way of comforting herself) which she could not do due to the muzzle. This pisses me off there was NO reason to put it on her NONE!\r \r We go to leave and a lady walked in with a smaller dog about 10lbs who was growling and snarling at me and my girl. My girl just looked at her and sat down doing nothing. The owners were LAUGHING! The lady comes out and says “How are you today.” and can’t go near it. No comments about aggression no muzzle. \r \r Then they got an attitude with me because they pulled 3 dead fleas off of her and I didn’t have $85 to pay for their flea control. Seriously! She is on flea medicine that is why the 3 fleas were dead! We live in FL of course there are fleas. I’ve never seen so many fleas in my life as here! They are called sand fleas and what is FL made up of? Oh what’s that sand?!\r \r I will not be going back for the check up! And if I had seen these reviews first I would not had taken her here to start with! more

Terrible Customer Experience 6/12/2009

I brought my pet here with a high fever in terrible weather almost at closing time seeing as I work almost at the same hours as the vet is open. They diagnosed the problem, and nurses were kind. After the commotion of getting there I left my debit card at the house and Mr. David W. Saylor, fuming with anger says quote "" Lady, it's like goin' ta Publix and sayin' I'm hungry an' ya ain't got money"". This is the rudest not to mention most unprofessional I've ever been treated at a vet. I offered to bring the money in a few minutes and he simply left after saying he'd be there. After all this I come back the next day to pay the bill and also purchase a suggested product from a nurse after which she hands me a counterfeit bill for the change. Having to go back there AGAIN was terrible enough, and though he had no ""legal"" obligation to he should have honored that his staff and in extension he himself had passed fake money onto one of his customers and taken the TEN dollar loss. Nope he's a stingy guy people. Now a little Vet like this I expected the quality customer care of years past, but I understand now that he was been burned many times by customers who haven't been able to pay him and simply insufficient customers. I'm sad to say it's turned him into a bitter old man with a sinking business. DO NOT TAKE YOUR BUSINESS HERE. You and your pet will thank me later. Cons: Customer/Pet Care are not Dr. Saylor's Primary concern. more

Herbie, Mr Saylor you would have let him die!!! 6/5/2009

I had accidentally injured one of our sweet cats. I had tried to personally snip off one of his mats. I intern cut him and caused a laceration that in a matter of hours was infected. I have been taking all of my cats to this clinic since I became a cat owner. I have not had any problems with prior treatments for my animals. The office staff in very personable and courteous. But on this occasion, the economic woes have taken over. My income is not as such as it used to be. I took my INJURED cat named ""Herbie"" to be treated. I explained my situation. I could either make my vehicle payment or have my cat treated. I opted the cat is family and more important. I explained my situation to the doctor/s, and told them how much money I had to my name, and asked to please treat ""Herbie"". Their response to me, remember, I have been taking ALL of my animals there for procedures and health care needs since I became a cat owner, was that they couldn't accept what I had in my pocket to treat what they called an ""EMERGENCY"" situation. I told them I would make up the difference when I received my next pay check. They stated that wasn't good enough and turned me out the door. The procedure would have cost $396 plus office visit of $42. I had $250 cash, and that was all the money I had to my name until pay day. They would have let my cat die, knowing the seriousness of the injury, infection had already set in and he had a fever. I wasn't looking for a hand out, I would have paid the difference. Knowing what I know now, I will NEVER take ANY of my animals to be seen or treated by this doctor ever again, who is only concerned about lining his pockets, not the care of the animals. Makes me wonder how he treats the animals when owners aren't there to watch their every move. I inturn, did find treatment for ""Herbie"" and his injury is being mended and infection taken care of. The cost is no where near the price Northside Animal Clinic quoted me, and if it was, they were willing to work with me. They are truly concerned about the animal, not the lining of the pockets. In a real emergency, pet owners don't ever consider where I took ""Herbie"" and that was the SPCA. When I mentioned I was taking ""Herbie"" to the SPCA, the clinic made reference to they would not take care of my animal properly. The SPCA can not exist on their reputation around the United States if this were to be true. I have full faith in the SPCA because they truly were concerned about treating my cat and not measuring me up for how much money I could pay. As I was in the waiting room with ""Herbie"", once I signed the paper work giving permission, the representative wisked ""Herbie"" away and were going to perform emergency surgery. My thanks to the SPCA and my condolences to the Northside Animal Clinic who would of let ""Herbie"" die. ps Mr Saylor you sr must have a rock for a heart and to all looking for a vet keep looking this is not a good man or vet Tony Sharp Pros: The way over charging not good care Cons: Saylor only thinks of money not your pet!! more

Do not use this vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3/6/2009

Dr Saylor is a horrible human being!! The techs/assistants are kind and friendly. The Dr is too busy trying to sell you heartguard and advantage (which I buy online to save money), as soon as he realizes your not going to bite he treats you like dirt. Dr Saylor does not care about animals, he obviously became a vet for the money, and to support his diving trips. Unless you want him to pur your animal down rather than go through the trouble of treating it dont go to him. He will still charge you as much money as he can get away with, but he dosent care enough to go through the effort of trying to get your pet healthy. When one of the assistants checked over my dog without trying to sell me heartguard and advantage right away he totally went off on her it was hard to watch. At one point I thought he was going to explode, it was really unprofessional of him to treat an employee like that in front of me (a client). Go anywhere but northside animal clinic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Only if you have no where else to go Cons: Dr stinks... Price always too high... more

good vet, not so good bed side manner 12/21/2008

The vet is good at what he does, taking care of animals. his bed side or should i say table side manner is not what you would expect from most doctors. He is a bit short with his comments but he good at what he does, my two dogs love him. The staff is very nice and very helpful. the office could use some updateing but that would just make people happy, i am not too sure how dogs or cats feel about the dated decor. I trust the doctor and staff with my four legged children. Pros: very experianced staff, service, Cons: hours, more

Mix Reviews 3/6/2006

The staff and one other vet was very kind. But the main vet was very rude. Just because I was asking him questions. Treated me like I was stupid. That is their job to answer the clients questions especially after paying alot of money for their service. I was very upset about my animal , I didn't need the vet to make it worse. Pros: nice staff, location, nice office Cons: vet, expensive, hours more
