Not impressed at all with Dr. Taylor. She was very rushed and had little time for questions. When I did ask a question, she was rude, sometimes to the point of belittling. Once sh...

Dr. Durairaj has the BEST bedside manners! 11/3/2008

I think we all agree that there is nothing scarier than going to the doctors office. Dr. Durairaj and her staff has the best bedside manner and that special click on a personal level to understand all the emotions running thru when you have had or ready to have a procedure! she is the best! all my co-workers started going to her too ;-) more

Dr. Durairaj is Fantastic! 7/15/2008

I have been using this practice for almost 6 years and have had 2 children with them. Dr. Durairaj is amazing. She is knowledgeable and has a wonderful bedside manner. She has 2 children, so I think she can really relate to what we go through. I had several "issues" and had to have an amnio with both my children and she calmed me and did a wonderful job. I hardly even felt it. After I had post-partum complications and had to be admitted back to the hospital, Dr. Durairaj was there and supportive the entire time. She even came to visit me after having delivered a baby and had not slept in 20 hours. I was very impressed she took the time to come and say hello! Yes, Northside Hospital is a baby factory. The postive aspect of that is that they know what they are doing and are ready for most anything to happen. I highly recommend Northside/Northpoint OB GYN. The staff are incredibly nice, especially Malvena who answers the phone and usually remembers your voice!! Very impressive. more

Great Experience 4/22/2008

I had a great experience with Lori Marshall and Duraj. They were very personable and answered everything! Lori didn't take any chances with me during the labor and when the babies heart rate dropped and wouldn't pick back up we went for an immediate C-section. I had no pain what so ever and recovered perfectly! My sweet Lilly was born with no problems because of her quick actions! more

1st Visit was enough for me! 3/16/2008

Where to start?!? - after searching for weeks I finally decided to try NNOG/AWHG and called to review my insurance with them. I was concerned because I still had 3 weeks before my MATERNITY would be added to my insurance, but just wanted to make sure I was pregnant and was doing everything right. I was assured that my first visit with this office would be filed as GYN services and would not be OB so it wouldn't be a problem. (8 weeks later I got a BILL for $228 stating my insurance didn't cover Maternity.... I have YET to resolve this problem with them and WILL NOT be paying this bill unless I send them $1 a month for 228 months just to get my point across!) After taking the "pee" test I was brought back to a room, sat down, told "Congratulations" and was handed a bag full of prenatal vitamins and a book on pregnancy. I was then told to undress, hop on the table and drape myself... about 5-10 minutes later the nurse returned with the Dr and my first meeting with the Dr was her walking in to my exposed butt crack as the way the room was set up and the drapes are awfully small. Without hesitation she explained she would be doing a pap smear and a ghonnorhea/syphllis test and instructed me to scoot down on the table. She literally threw the entire drape back over my belly exposing ALL my bottomside to her AND the NURSE who stood next to her WATCHING her EVERY move!! It was like I had an audience!!! I felt so violated!! The room was fully lit and here were 2 strangers looking at all I had to offer!! While she "cranked me open" (as I call it) and then proceeded to scrap the ever living crap out of me, she tried to talk to me about where I was from on the southside of Atlanta!! I just wanted her to shut up and do her job! I didn't want to talk about that!! She then had me sit up, went over my meds with me and rolled her eyes a few times about the choice of medications my doctors had given me for Thyroid problems and then told me I would be listed as a High Risk Pregnancy and would need to see a specialist. She then left. Upon getting to the check out counter, the girl informs me that I need to make an Ultrasound appt for the next week. I explained to her that I am in the healthcare industry myself and have patients booked that I cannot change (plus I live over an hour away, so it would take half a day to take off) and that my days off were Monday and Friday, to which she replied that they don't do ultrasounds on Mondays or Fridays. I told her that just like their doctors had schedules made up weeks in advance, so did I and so maybe I would need to book a couple weeks out for the ultrasound. She said "I don't know what to tell you" - I gave up right then and decided I would not be back because of her attitude and composure with me as well as they way I had just felt so violated. I told her I would call back (not intending to of course) and then proceeded to ask about the referral to the high risk specialist. She told me "didn't the doctor give you anything?" to which I told her that no I didn't get anything. Next she said "well I think they have the specialist call you - yea, thats what they do - they'll call you" - she sounded really unsure about this but was not about to get off her rear end to go find out! SO.... I left. (10 weeks later - I still haven't heard from a specialist!). This is not the kind of practice that I am accustomed to, nor will I ever return! I am used to OB/GYN practices that treat you with dignity, respect, courtesy, privacy, and they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. After all, without your business how could they be in business? Obviously this practice doesn't care! more

Fed Up 6/21/2007

I was assigned to Lori Marshall as my main doctor. She was nice enough, but never answered my questions thoroughly or to my satisfaction. I recently entered the period where I go every 2 weeks for my OB appointments, and the last appointment two weeks ago was with Dr. Bret Harris (sp?) who did an amazing job of making me feel like an idiot. He basically said I need to sit back, shut up, and let them make their "professional" decisions. I was asking him about the prevalence of non-mandatory c-sections and inductions (inducement?) and voicing my concern that my husband and I would not have much control over how the birth of our child goes. He went on to say that the courts now mandate at what point they must do a c-section - not for medical reasons, but TO AVOID LEGAL PROBLEMS. In other words, the courts have set scenarios in which a doctor must perform a c-section to cover his/her @ss against future legal issues. I left that appointment ready to have my husband deliver our baby at home, in our bed. So today was our 34 week appointment. Dr. Harris had scheduled an ultrasound to check the size of the baby since I lost weight at my last appointment. The ultrasound was scheduled for 12:30. We were not seen until 1:00. The appointment was scheduled for 1:00 with Dr. Sherry Taylor, and we sat in the room for half an hour before starting to get fidgity. There was no one in the waiting room when we got there, so what was taking so long? Around 1:40 my husband went to use the bathroom and apparently the doctor was right outside the door. She was rude to him when he said he would just stay in if she was ready for the appointment, saying she was coming in but not at that moment. Five minutes later we heard her still outside our room, chatting with a nurse about the pains of getting a passport. We walked out and she snidely called after us "Hello?" We didn't turn around, just headed right out. My husband is calling today to voice our complaint. Tomorrow I am calling Blue Cross Blue Shield to make sure no more payments are made to Northside / Northpoint. I will then find another doctor for my last few appointments and for my baby's delivery. I regret not going for a homebirth with a midwife. They don't call Northside a Baby Factory for the heck of it. more

Dr. Gumer is the greatest! 12/29/2005

He is a very caring OB GYN, but expect to wait a long time unless you have a first thing in the morning appointment. That has been my only complaint about this office. Sometimes you can expect to wait for an hour or more so I always take the first appointment in the morning to avoid this problem. He is very caring and soft spoken and just an overall great doctor that you can talk to. more
