A real gem! 6/17/2007

This place has amazing meats and cheeses that are hard to find anywhere else, and their sandwiches are fantastic! If there is a line it might take a while to get served, but it is worth the wait. The guys who work there always seem grumpy, but they are actually very nice. If you're nice to them they will be nice to you, but if you are rude (as many people are in this neighborhood are) then you'll get rude right back. Try the speck! Pros: Knowledgable staff, great product, wide variety, delicious! Cons: long waits in line. more

This Midtown East find is a throwback to friendly neighborhood markets. It's a very small store but has a wide varitey of authentic Italian food like proscuitto, salami, foccacia and mozzarella d' Bufalo. The owner works in the store and the service is wonderful. The food is well priced, but be sure to get in early, popular items go fast. more
