It's the BEST from my experience!!! 4/7/2010

The instructors are amazing! I was impressed with all the instructor's range and depth of knowledge and experience. I chose this school because of the reputation and education they offer. I've heard about his school from several friends and clubs, and bar owners and bartenders. I knew this school would best prepare me to bartend anywhere I chose. Also I had a great impression when talking over the phone and going in person to see the facilities the staff was super nice and answered all my questions without being pushy like the other schools. Pros: getting behind the bar in class seemed authentic Cons: none more

GREAT SCHOOL!!! 3/19/2010

Some of the bad reviews on here are either fake or stupid lazy people who are not using all the great info that the teachers provided! In regards to job placement....they tell you even before you start that the job placement depends on US (the students). Just like any kind of job placement! Where on earth are you going to go to a school, graduate and walk into the job placement office and say ""I need a job"" and walk out with one as if it were magic! You the student, need to be outgoing, smart, funny, and hard working in order to get a job! Anyone who thinks they can just rely on a school to give them a job is stupid! (DONT GET ME WRONG! THEY DO HELP!) But in the end it?s up to the student to make it happen.......and the instructors give you sooooooooooooo much GREAT advice and industry secrets to make it happen! Pros: very informative teachers Cons: too short.....BUT.....you can keep coming back to learn! more

You the student, need to be outgoing, smart, funny, and hard working in order to get a job! Anyone who thinks they can just rely on a school to give them a job is stupid! (DONT GET ME WRONG! THEY DO HELP!) But in the end it’s up to the student to make it happen.......and the instructors give you sooooooooooooo much GREAT advice and industry secrets to make it happen! -But I digress........ The school is FANTASTIC! IT looks JUST like a real bar and everything is so clean and organized. (In fact the bar looks so real that on St. Patrick’s day two tourists found their way into our class room, sat down on the bar stools and asked one of the students for 2 shots of house whisky!!! ha ha ha ha NOT KIDDING!) My instructors name was FORREST.....the other instructors were great too, each with different personalities....but Forrest was amazing (12 yrs experience and very laid back). The overall program is very intense and you will learn everything from shots, highball drinks, martinis, manhattans, hot drinks, beer and wine seminars ,frozen drinks, shaken drinks. When you graduate(and everyone in my class did) you will have around 180-250 drinks MEMORIZED! Other schools tout that you will learn 300, but they teach nonsensical drinks that no one orders, the instructors informed us that they only teach the most popular drinks and it makes sense. Why clutter your head with recipes no one orders. In conclusion.......if you’re not sure which school to go to, or if your wondering if it’s worth the money......consider this; Take their FREE class or come into the office and ask to sit in on a class to observe a REAL session they are ok with that! Also you can retake this class ANYTIME you want! (Not kidding, one girl in our class graduated 6 YEARS AGO.....). My favorite thing is that if I EVER have any questions or want a refresher I can come back and sit in on a class! See for yourself why this school has so many good reviews and when you graduate don’t be a pussy, work hard and have a good attitude be intelligent and you will land that bar job! (One idea I have for you is to go to a bar and ask to trail/stage/work for free, they get a free employee, you get experience, a bar for your resume, and maybe a permanent job! OHHHH AND THIS IS NOT A REVIEW FROM THE SCHOOL.....on graduation day they give us a survey and we sign off that it’s ok if they use our review for promotional things. That is why some reviews are different but from the same place. I just had so much fun at the school that I wanted to share MY OWN PERSONAL review. ASK FOR FORREST AS YOUR INSTRUCTOR!!!! Pros: very informative teachers Cons: too short.....BUT.....you can keep coming back to learn! more

Well Worth IT! 1/20/2010

I had considered going to Bartending School for awhile, but never had a chance to go through with it. The opportunity arose and I proceeded with my search in finding the right school. After reviewing several other schools online, I was most impressed with the New York Bartending School's website and extensive variety of establishments where graduates were placed. I then made an appointment to meet with the someone from the school. I was very pleased with the school's appearance and friendly staff. Needless to say, I went through the class. I had a very informative, attentive, patient and friendly instructor. He really focused on each and every student as individuals to make sure they were equiped with everything you need to know in order to be a knowledgable and successful bartender. Shortly after graduating they placed me in two full-time jobs, a sportsbar on the Upperwestside; Soldier McGee's and club on the Lower Eastside; Identity. I absolutely love working at these places, Great clientele, Great money, and my coworkers are an absolute pleasure to work with. It's definitely a good fit and it wouldn't have been possible without the New York Bartending School. more

Teach customer service? Take some classes yourself first! 11/2/2009

This place came recommended by my friend Stevie who is a graduate. I need to make some dough, so I figured I'd go check it out. I walk in and this brunette at the desk just stares at me without saying a word. Weird, no? After waiting for awhile to be greeted, I asked to get some information. She responded, "Whattaya wanna know?" I asked for the price and it had gone up to $800 from the original price my friend paid of like $500. I asked why there was a change in cost and the reponse was that the price goes up and down all the time. WTF? What is the course worth then? Ya feel me? No Answer. I left and signed up for another school. I don't usually write reviews or nitpick the small stuff, but I was really floored on how a school that teaches customer service could be soooo 'effin clueless about the topic. Also...and this is the clincher... My friend that originally recommended me to go here, called to do a "free" brush up class that they promised. After I told him how I made out he wanted to test the waters... and they hung up on him. Naturally, he thought that maybe they got disconnected. He called back again and explained that he graduated and wanted to practice and use there bar. They hung up again. HOW DO THESE GUYS STAY IN BUSINESS? Pros: Learn a few drinks? Cons: Wasting time and money. more

EXCELLENT! 9/21/2009

I was referred to this school by a friend. For convenience I went to their Long Island office and I was not disappointed! Better too because it costs less than the Manhattan location. I just graduated last Friday and I am so glad I decided to do this. I am very anxious to start working in a real bar and I will actually be practicing at one of their training bars in the city to add something to my resume since I do not have any bartending experience. My teachers were excellent and I hope to keep in touch with them because they were the best. Elena in the office was very nice and pleasant too. When I first started there was nothing pushy about it at all. I'm not sure about the Manhattan location but I am confident in stating that there shouldn't be any bad reviews about this school AT ALL! Pros: learned drinks quickly, great teacher, realistic bar set-up Cons: none more
