Nellies Custom Cakes

I went to Nellie's to purchase my wedding cake, because a friend had recommended them. Big mistake! I would NOT recommend their services to anyone. While their cake tastes good, it is a very poorly run business with bad customer service. They lack professionalism and caring; in an industry where both are required.\r \r Here's what happened: After meeting with the owner in person several times, describing in detail what type of decoration I wanted on my wedding cake, AND providing a photograph of exactly what the cake was to look like, AND providing several cell phone numbers they could call in case there were any questions or problems before or on the day of the wedding; I felt confident and excited to see my cake on the wedding day. Was I ever wrong....What a disappointment!! :(\r \r While the cake tasted great, they did not use the color that I had specified for the decorations (that was also shown in the photo!).... And so, not only did our cake not match our carefully planned reception, but NONE of the detail on the cake shows in pictures at all! Needless to say, both my new husband and I were VERY disappointed and saddened at how it turned out. \r \r A few days after the wedding, I returned to Nellie’s to express my unhappiness with their product, but was told the owner wasn't there, and to come back. I did the next day... only to be told the same thing again (frustrating!). I left my phone number, and the owner finally called. When I told her about what had happened, she admitted being unsure of what color to use when decorating the cake, and admitted that what happened was ENTIRELY their fault for not writing down the details; but when I asked why she didn't bother to call me to clarify, or even look at the picture, she had NO good answer.... She didn't even apologize! I asked her if there was any type of compensation or refund she could offer me because her blatent error had tarnished our wedding day. She acted as if she had no idea what I meant...(hello, refund some of the more than $350 I paid!?), and then said that she guessed she could make us a new cake top.....Um, what good does that do us now, after the wedding? You cannot recreate the special moments on your wedding day. I told her as much, and she said nothing.\r \r If you want your ""dream wedding"" (as most brides do), take your business elsewhere.\r more

I ordered a custom cake for my wife's birthday with only a couple of weeks notice and on a busy holiday weekend. The price was so low that I was nervous it would not be what I expected. The cake looked perfect and tasted wonderful. It was a completely custom design based on my description and not something out of a book that has been made before. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone. When you go to the store, it is a bit old looking, but go in and you will not be disappointed. My family has used Nellies Custom Cakes on many a special occasion and never been disappointed. In fact two of the cakes on this website were cakes my sister ordered! The sheep dog cake was a grooms cake for my nephew(looks exactly like his dog) It was such a hit at the wedding nobody wanted to cut it! I love the cake there so I decided I wanted to buy an 8 inch round for my husband and I. Our 1 year anniversary is coming up. I was so excited to get one, so I went in and they said they could do a white cake for me. They asked if I wanted roses on the top and I explained to them that I did not. I just wanted a plain white cake with no decorations. I still had some left over ribbon from my wedding cake that I wanted to wrap around the bottom so, I asked them for to put no border on it either. They absolutely refused to sell me the cake that way. I wasn't wanting any discount or anything just a plain cake. How can they say they are custom cakes? Very disappointed. more

I was looking for an affordable place for a theme cake and a friend told me about Nellie's. She said she gets all her cakes for special occasions from here and I am so glad I did. They did such a good job, more than I expected. The cake was the best looking cake I have had at a party and people went back for seconds. Since my party they have done 4 of my friends weddings and a bachelor party theme cake for a friend. Don't look any where else price, taste and all round presentation is all here at Nellie's. I ordered our wedding cake from Nellie's, after quite a bit of shopping around and tasting. Our custom cake was absolutely stunning--a four-tier cake with vertical white chocolate shavings lining the circumference of each layer. Not only was the look and price of the cake important to us, but the taste was very important, too. I have been to too many weddings where the cake should have been just for display--dry and tasteless. But Nellie's cake was perfectly moist, with that hind of almondine flavor that we were looking for in a wedding cake. We got many complements from our guests on our cake.\r \r I also enjoyed a Nellie's cake at a baby shower. It was uniquely decorated and looked so hip, yet professional--not your basic pink and baby blue booties theme. I ordered a cowboy cake for another baby shower, and it got rave reviews. more

This little hole in the wall cake shop has some of the most delicious cake I've ever tasted. They were very flexible and willing to work with me on new ideas and decorating. I highly reccommend you go here for your child's next birthday party or bridal shower. They made the cake for my engagement party and it was fabulous! Also, it's very reasonably priced being that the overhead prices aren't like others in our area. \r \r more
