Best

Love the food! The best food I've had in a long time. The service was a little slow. But I didn't mind.

Worst

I totally agree with every reviews on here that talk about the terrible service and rude awful manager. I've eaten at nakama a few times. It's either hit or miss. My time there is...

One of the BEST hibachi in PGH!!!!!!!!!! 9/17/2006

I go to Nakama with my girlfriends atleast once a month. We always have the best time. The food is unbelievabley good....I have NEVER had a bad meal and the service staff and chefs are always knowlegable and entertaining. I would absolutly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Best sushi and hibachi in the burgh!!! Cons: are you kidding me...NONE more

Best Japanese restaurant in every aspect! 9/17/2006

I can't even count anymore how many times I have been to Nakama! The food is amazing, always fresh, and keeps you coming back for more! The caterpillar roll is s must-have! It's not your traditional Japanese restaurant environment, but that's what makes it so great! more

Great Sushi & Bartenders 9/17/2006

Regarding the email we received to write a review, I have to say that I can not be bought with $10, so for anyone to think that I would lie in a review to receive $10, give me a break. Nakama does have the best sushi in town in terms of consistency, quality, taste, and freshness. It is fairly priced. The bartenders are some of the best in town. They work their rearends off and always have a great attitude. For those of you who have found otherwise, maybe you should try tipping. Over-all, I am always happy to take friends, family, and customers to this great restaurant. And regarding the use of the VIP coupons, they are very accomodating and allow you to use them anywhere in the restaurant. Pros: great sushi, service Cons: wish bar area was bigger more

Nakama just lost my respect AND my business 9/17/2006

I have been to Nakama once with a group and had a fun experience. The food was decent, and the chef was entertaining. The server, although somewhat neglectful, was pleasant enough. I had planned on returning again soon and would have recommended Nakama to anyone until I also received the email offering $10 for a positive review. I have 10 years of serving experience and am extremely displeased that a restaurant that is so ""high end"" and ""upscale"" has resorted to buying customers' fake reviews. $10 won't buy you much at Nakama, and it definitely won't buy my vote. To Ms. Becky Gomes (Nakama's owner) who sends the Nakama e-mails and obviously reads these reviews, thank you for opening my eyes and turning a definite repeat customer into a disgusted customer who surely won't be returning to your ""fine"" establishment. I encourage everyone to take their business elsewhere, as Nakama has literally resorted to buying their customers and reviews. Pros: group events/celebrations Cons: parking, restaurant owners more

Change of Venue 9/17/2006

Fantastic food and drinks! We live in the South Hills and frequent Hibachi Japan in McMurray. This is sooooooooooooo much better. It is a little dark and loud, but hey that gives it flavor! We drive 35 minutes just to eat here! more

Pros: great food, especially sushi!!! Cons: hard to park in the south side... more

No other Japanese in Pittsburgh compares to Nakama! 9/17/2006

This restaurant is downright amazing. From the decor and ambience on through to its sushi and hibachi-style dinners, Nakama epitomizes the perfect dining experience. In addition, they send out informative monthly newsletters, hold contests, and generally treat their patrons better than any local restaurant. Go to Nakama and you'll see what I mean! Pros: Ambience, sushi Cons: None! more

GREAT FOOD-EXCELLENT SERVICE 9/17/2006

I have been to Nakama's many times, enjoyed everything about being there. Good food, great tricks, the service. The employees were very helpful in whatever we needed. I never waited for ""another beer"" and that is a real plus!! The bathrooms were very clean and the attendant was very pleasant and caring. I recommend Nakama's highly, It's the best around!!!! Pros: Location, parking, service more

Great Sushi 9/17/2006

I've eaten at Nakama numerous times and just love the sushi. My boyfriend is a huge fan of the hibachi. Overall, Nakama is a great dining experience and I recommend it to anyone looking for great sushi! The ginger dressing is great too! more

Hands-Down Favorite Restaurant in the Burg! 9/17/2006

I have become a devotee of Nakama and make it a point to eat there a few times a month. The sushi is the best I've eaten ANYWHERE! Even in my travels, I have found no other japanese restaurant that even comes close. The Hanalei and Boston Rolls are not to be missed!!! I've even taken friends to Nakama who swore they didn't like sushi and they've always left with a whole different outlook. The service is almost always superb (everyone has an off day now and again) and the food is ALWAYS spectacular! Parking on the South Side is always an issue, but Nakama has offset that by offering valet parking - well worth the extra $$. Pros: Fantastic sushi! more

Great Bar Scene 9/17/2006

Always enjoy taking business associates or friends/family here. Great Sushi and great Steak House menu. Above all, though, great bar scene that is always in full swing. more

Hot Spot/Great Food 9/17/2006

Nakama is one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. The atmosphere is fabulous and the staff is always friendly. I've ate at the sushi bar and in the dining area and enjoyed myself at both. I brought my friends from out of town to Nakama and our chef was absolutely fantastic. He even let us get up and cook!! Looking for a good time and good food, go to Nakama! Pros: Everything more

Best Sushi in Pittsburgh by far 9/17/2006

Nakama is amazing. Best sushi/restaurant in Pittsburgh. You can't beat Bob's Triple Combo and the Hanelei Roll, but everything I have ever tried as been delicious. Great to get a group together and go, or just have a nice night out for 2. Pros: An amazing amount of food, never leave hungry Cons: A little pricey, but worth it more

best sushi 9/17/2006

Great Place 9/17/2006

I have been to Nakama twice. My Fiancee enjoys the Hibachi while I enjoy the Sushi. Nakama has a great atmosphere. The chefs are funny and entertaining. It is my favorite place for Sushi. I can't wait to go back again. more

Great Happy Hour 9/17/2006

One of my favorite places to go in Pittsburgh for happy hour. I love the variety of appetizers and they are 1/2 off. Can't beat it. I would recommend the beef tips and lettuce wraps. So great! And one of my favorite drinks, Plumy Yummy! Pros: Happy Hour Cons: Parking, but you know that's south side! more

Best hibachi in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

A must if you live or are just visiting the Pittsburgh area. The hibachi is to die for an the sushi is just as good! Service is excellent and there is usually valet service out in front. The bartenders are experienced and create tasty martinis, like the ""T-D tini"". I definitely recommend the hibachi dinner. Plenty of choices to choose from. I prefer the Land & Sea which is a combination of scallops and NY sirloin. So GOOD!!! I'm always impressed everytime I visit Nakama. I even plan on taking my mother there for her birthday. Pros: Best hibachi in Pittsburgh, great service, and terrific sushi Cons: Packed on weekends more

Great food, great time!! 9/17/2006

I have been to Nakama twice....once for dinner and once for lunch. Both were excellent. I actually recommend lunch because it is less crowded and only a little less food for a lot less money. However, I would not hesitate to go at any time. I have been to several hibachi restaurants and this is the best by far. more

The Best Spicy Tuna Roll anywhere in the City 9/17/2006

It's always a tough choice of what to get because everything is good.\r \r The wait staff is always available and quick to make suggestions.\r \r A very good place for a night out! Pros: The Food - The Spicy Tuna Roll Cons: It tends to get rather loud and sometimes hard to hear if you sit in the bar area. more
