Love the food! The best food I've had in a long time. The service was a little slow. But I didn't mind.

I totally agree with every reviews on here that talk about the terrible service and rude awful manager. I've eaten at nakama a few times. It's either hit or miss. My time there is...

I am very picky with my food. Not many resturants in the area have many things to choose from. I have always been able to find a meal that I enjoy on their menu. more

Best place for friends 9/17/2006

Nakama is a great place to have an amazing time with friends. The service is always great, the drinks awesome, and the food amazing. \r \r No matter how many times I return I am always impressed by Nakamas. Pros: Amazing sushi Cons: A little loud, but that's alright. more

Best shushi, great service, supurb atmosphere, a great place to dine with friends. 9/17/2006

Been there three times for dinner and sushi. I have eaten in 5 or 6 of Pittsbutghs Sushi resteraunts and Nakama is the best hands down. The soft shell crabs rolls are to die for. The service is excellant, the cooks are friendly and entertaining. Each time we were there we were witha group and none of us had any complaints about anything. I will be back again and again! I an't wait for our next trip. Don't wait, try them today. Pros: Super service, outstanding food Cons: slightly expensive but worth it. more

Great Japanese Restaurant! 9/17/2006

I have never had a problem at Nakama, the people there are very nice, the music is great and the atmosphere is fantasic. The food and the tricks that are done are great! I wouldn't change a thing about Nakama. All of their coupons and specials are very true. As long as Nakama stays in Pittsburgh, I will continue to serve them! Pros: Parking, food, atmosphere more

One of the Best Happy Hour Spots in South Side!!! 9/17/2006

All I need to say is...Hanalei Rolls -- You HAVE to try them!. :) If you're looking for an exciting bar atmosphere, EXCELLENT sushi bar (and the hibachi is pretty damn good, too), friendly bartenders, TVs showing various sporting events and great ""mood music,"" look no further... whenever i go to nakama, i have a wonderful experience. the chefs are entertaining, you get a variety of items along with the meal, and the overall setting is perfect for a celebration or jsut a nice, casual dinner. more

Best sushi I have eaten at a very good price 9/17/2006

Excellent service and the food was beyond my expectation. I have eaten sushi in many places across the world and this is one of the best. Presentation was well done and the price was the best part. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes good sushi and Japenese food. Pros: excellent dining with a reasonable cost Cons: recommend reservations as it gets crowded more

Co-workers will envy your lunch the next day. 9/17/2006

Fresh, quality food and the best service in Pittsburgh. Every time I go to Nakama I buy sushi and a dinner entree, but I end up with delicious leftovers that go to work with me the next day. While my co-workers are chewing on hot pockets and lean cuisines, I'm feasting on sesame chicken with sides of fried rice, mushrooms and vegetables. The staff has been friendly and helpful on every visit. Must do's: Sign up for the VIP rewards program; check your mail for valuable coupons; get valet parking; teach your friends how to use chop sticks. ENJOY! Best Food and atmosphere 9/17/2006

My husband and I go out to dinner with friends at least two times a month, and we go to Nakama every single time! Not only is the service excellent, and the food great but the atmosphere speaks for itself! I recommend it to anyone and everyone i talk to! Def #1 in PGH! more

BEWARE!-Good Reviews are for Gift Certificates 9/17/2006

Nakama is really violating the spirit of this website! Look at all the good reviews posted today. Nakama sent out an email stating they'll give gift certificates for positive reviews! I've eaten twice at Nakama and been underwhelmed both times. The service was lousy and the restrooms were in desperate need of a cleaning. Shame on Naklama for being so sneaky! Best sushi and hibachi bar in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

The service and food are always excellent. I have tried almost everything on the menu and never got something I didn't enjoy! If you go on a busy Friday or Saturday enjoy a drink at the well stocked bar and order the sampler platter you won't be dissappointed. more

Best Sushi/Hibachi in the 'burg 9/17/2006

I have been going to Nakama since it has opened and it is by far the best sushi/japanese restaraunt in Pittsburgh. The atmosphere there makes for the ultimate dining experience with some of the best chefs in Pittsburgh and such a great location in the heart of South Side. Nakama has the best food and customer expirience on the southside. Not only will you have great food for lunch or dinner, but you will have a great time watching it be prepared. entertaining, gourmet japanese hibachi! 9/17/2006

I recently took my family in from out of town to Nakama - i was there recently for some cocktails and people there were raving about the atmosphere and the quality of the food. We were seated together for a hibachi-sytle meal, and enjoyed the table commentary by the chef that prepared our meals. Everyone got something a little different, and we enjoyed sharing our different dishes with each other. Everything I tried (even some of the sushi which I'm normally not a fan of} was very tasty and flavorful. We completely enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to our next trip down to the Southside to go to Nakama again soon more

My family and I love Japanese Restaurants! When we heard Nakama was coming to South Side we were so excited. As soon as it opened we made reservations to go and, I must say, Nakama exceeded our expectations by far. The food is execellent and the service was wonderful! For every special occasion my 10-year old son picks Nakama to celebrate. (Birthdays, good report cards, or just to have some quality parent/child time.) Quite frankly, there are plenty of times where we just look for a good excuse to celebrate so we can go to Nakama! And the specials that they are constantly offering, it makes it very affordable for working-class people to enjoy. more

Nakama is the best sushi restaurnant that I have been to since I moved here to Pittsburgh. Being a VIP member, they send me coupons and promotional offers to dine in the restaurant. Recently I brought a friend of mine from California, and we had a pleasant dinner at the sushi bar and the service was excellent! more

Outstanding sushi and sashimi in the the tri-state!! 9/17/2006

I've eaten in the most exclusive and exquisite sushi bars from LA to NY. Upon moving to the Southside, I shuttered at the thought of sushi in Pittsburgh! And then came Nakama. Thank goodness. The wonderful fresh scallops and sweet shrimp...the perfection and artistry of the chefs. Yum yum! They make a rose from my tuna and fancy my crab with it. But the freshness and taste doesn't have to be dressed-up. Although I have had different sushi, I have never had better. Also, my favorite chef makes my seaweed salad quite delectable for me (I'm not telling)! I love that the sushi bar is at the front door so you can slide in and slide out without dressing up for a night out. I've always felt like it was my corner diner. I'm sure I should try the rest of the menu, but I am hooked on the sushi, sashimi and sake and eat alone quite a bit. I've been to Shadyside and they have nothing ""Um"" Nakama! more

Best Japanese and Best Price 9/17/2006

Nakama has great prices for japanese food and the quality can't be beat. All of sushi is expensive. I've been to Yokoso in the Waterfront and their prices are even higher. So if you're in the mood for a good price Japanese food Nakama is your best bet. They give out a lot of coupons and incentitives for being a member. Yokoso doesn't do that. The last time I was at Nakama, I forgot my purse. I ran back in about twenty minutes later, and a friendly waiter was waiting for me with it. I was so relieved! Thank you again so much!! I Pros: Prices, Food Quality. Good ambience, Plenty to do before and after dining Cons: Resturaunt gives out so many coupons and incentitives they are strict following them more

Excellent Sushi and Atmosphere 9/17/2006

I recommend Nakama to anyone whether the person is a local or from out of town. I met some very cool bartenders there who I've seen outside of Nakama and they continued their friendly personalities. The sushi is very good and I've compared their sushi to quite a few places. It is a great happy hour place as others have noted. The owner is also very cool...while I've only had email communication she is very active in the Burg. The only thing I hope for is the non-smoking bill to be passed. This will get me there a little more often. Pros: Happy Hour, Service, Sushi more
