The Morris-Jumel Mansion is a treasure, not to be missed, NEEDS ALL THE SUPPORT IT CAN GET!! Built in 1765, it is a testament to every phase of American History, from British Colonies to New Nation to Today &For the future. General George Washington really did sleep there, his HQ during Battle of Harlem, NY in autumn 1776, &came back with his cabinet &Wives in 1790, 4 future presidents Jefferson Madison and 2 Adamses! The Jumels brought in French Empire influences from Napoleon. Awesome tour guide, Amazing original collection of furnishings, and Terrific education programs for school kids and Art Classes for adults. Excellent Gift Shop. You can even rent it for parties or weddings! It is in DIRE need of renovations to the 1765 original exterior and woodwork, so, come on, New Yorkers and Visitors, PLEASE Visit and Give to preserve the Morris-Jumel Mansion! IT NEEDS YOU! Pros: Awesome History, 1765 Architecture, Lovely Grounds Cons: NEEDS FINANCIAL HELP, Renovations needed, Membership Needed more
